2. Observations
Pictures (clockwise from upper left)
1. Dylan’s Candy Bar – visually appealing with all gummy candy and jelly beans
organized by color; reminds me of a rainbow with very sweet smells throughout
the store; the store said to me “You’ll love my colors so much you won’t even
realize you are paying $15/lb of candy.”
2. TJMaxx – Halloween display; store itself is rather drab but this display catches your
attention with its color and arrangement as you enter; this store said “We tried.”
3. Lush at Mohegan Sun Casino – small space that is packed with products that are
visually appealing in shapes, colors, and sizes, with an assortment of aromas from
soaps and oils (intended to distract you from the price of their products!)
4. Five Below – creative use of wheelbarrows to pile products and to use large
numbers to catch your attention (those of us looking for a bargain!)
5. Sephora – very sleek, clean, and organized; displays are bright, simple, yet visually
attractive
6. Dots – low end clothing shop in town; simple display that lacks any particular
characteristic to draw in customers (other than the large 40% off sign)….the store
is saying “we are not very creative but we are cheap”
