3. Ageing products' section better lit
than others.... strategy!!
Festivities as an attraction
in the drug and beauty store!!!
4. Leakage and bad ceiling conditions definitely made this store
less attractive in spite of having sales!
5. Other common observations
Store letterings were all big, clear and lit up.
No definite sales script, no visibly obvious usage of store
products, display tables in every store and no free samples!
Every store had an open entrance probably since they were all in
the same shopping complex.
Prices of products in all the stores was quite easy to locate, either
in form of price tags or stickers.
6. New findings!
The shoe store had a weird pink sheet to cover the display table
which definitely didn't draw me towards it.
The grocery store sells laundry carts...that was new for me!
Even spotted a washroom for customers in the grocery store,
have never seen it before, though I'm sure it was always there.
The shoe store had just one person doing the job of the cashier
as well as the sales guy! Don't know if thats always the case...
7. Never noticed this structure outside
the grocery store!
Never noticed this community
board too in the grocery store!
8. Notes & Exceptions
Ingeborg's
Could you have guessed from the name that its a shoe store!!?
This was the only store where the sales guy initiated talk,
probably since this was the only 'one product predominant' store.
Only store that didn't have impulse items near cash register! Shoe
related accessories could've been a hot sale..
Only store with a male sales guy in a majorly women's shoe store.
Wonder what the idea behind this is!
9. Notes & Exceptions
Metro
A famous mart in Canada! A newcomer might not guess what it
sells...
Music playing in the background...definitely a thumbs up!
High customer to salesperson ratio, they sure lose out on many
customers!
Only place where items were placed in inaccessible locations.
Typically oil, flour, bags, sauces, etc.
10. Notes & Exceptions
Everything for a dollar!
Yes a dollar store...
Considering they were closing, the look could've been much better
to attract customers to low prices, but definitely a disappointment.
Worn out ceilings, leakages all over, loud music just at the counter
were the few dampeners.
Only shop with tiled flooring, not the best option for rainy, snowy
weather.
11. Notes & Exceptions
Carlton cards
Yes an appropriate and clear name!
Only store with a dim lighting, didn't really give it a peaceful
ambience if that was the intention.
Ceilings were low, making the store look a little too crowded with
items.
Only store that had all the sale items in one side of the store, might
not do good to the majority of the other selling items.
12. Notes & Exceptions
Shopper's drug mart
Another famous brand in Canada and yes stands true to its name.
Favourite of the young crowd due to the ample of beauty products
they sell!
Only store where customers were mostly shopping alone.
First product I noticed, chocolates!! I guess one thing thats liked by
all irrespective of age/gender :).
Definitely my pick for the most fulfilling store of the evening!!
13. Inferences & Insights
Its important to have a well lit, bright, high ceiling store.
Items like these give the store
a welcome look!
A pleasant, approachable sales staff gets half the job done!!
Soothing background music is like a cherry on the cake :).
14. Its definitely not one thing that makes a store a success.....
Its a combination of many aspects, of course varying with the type of
store!
