3. Happy Holidays
Did you know that 95% of Americans say they celebrate
Christmas? 5.9% Hanukkah? 2.1% Kwanzaa? How about
the fact that Americans purchase 25-30 million real trees
and 8-12 million artificial trees each Christmas season?
Around 17.5 million oily doughnuts (sufganiyot) are eaten
in Israel during Hanukkah, commemorating the miracle of
oil. The first Kwanzaa postage stamp was introduced in 1997. These
are some surprising statistics! From the Chamber to you & your
family, we wish you a very merry holiday season.
Annual Chamber Dinner
Annual Chamber Dinner is next month! On January 22nd, 2015,
the 71st annual event will be taking place at Manchester
University's Jo Young Switzer Center. Invitations will be sent out
very soon. It is going to be a wonderful night, definitely not one
to miss!
4. Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, Off to Disney She Goes!
Chloe Webber, North Manchester Chamber intern, writes “crazy to think that it’s almost the end of the year. It’s also crazy to think that I am off to Disney next month! I will be taking an Applying Industrial-Organizational Psychology Seminar class in Disney through Manchester University’s January term program. When that concludes, I will be finished with Manchester University’s classes on the North Manchester campus. I will then move to Orlando in early February, and I won’t leave until August (…that is, if I leave!). The Disney College Program will be an excellent experience for me, and I can’t wait to get started in my desired field of work. Although, I’m super excited to move south to Florida, I will miss my wonderful family, classmates, professors, employers, and so many more. I truly will! I’ve been incredibly blessed with the opportunities that I have had here in North Manchester, and I definitely won’t forget any of the fantastic memories I have made. Thanks to all who have shared these memories with me!”
