BlackFem is a nonprofit born out of the need to improve wealth literacy at the intersection of two severely underserved demographics: young girls and people of color. We serve them by providing schools with engaging and holistic wealth literacy curriculum that encourages the financial habits and behaviors needed to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty – at the individual, family, and community level.

1. Wealth inequality is real, it’s crippling and it’s
distributed heavily along racial and gender lines.

2. Our educational systems inadequately support girls
of color. Not only are they repeatedly told they are
not worth it, they are also faced with the lowest net
worth of any demographic.

3. If we do not elevate the net worth of girls of color
and their communities, then the wealth gap’s
crippling effects on this demographic will be
irreversible.

4. When we give girls of color access to wealth
education, we can solve for pressing societal
disparities that impact everyone regardless of
gender, race, and affluence.
