The Younik Foundation was created by friends in Kameelrivier B, South Africa to address challenges in their community such as poor education and limited opportunities. The Foundation aims to equip youth with tools to achieve their dreams by providing educational support from grade school through university and employment. Key programs include rewarding top students, advising on subject choices, assisting with college applications, and helping graduates find jobs. The goal is to create lasting impact by focusing deeply on individual learners rather than widespread programs.

MADE TO THE LIVES OF OTHERS
THAT WILL DETERMINE THE
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE LIFE WE
LEAD.”
- NELSON MANDELA
3. No two Zebra are the same, the unique stripes of the zebra not only serve as visual cue and
identification, they create motion dazzle do confuse the predator, help the zebra hide in the grass and
cool the zebra in hotter habitats. We believe, it is in our uniqueness that our strength as a people lie, we
strongly believe that one should never think what they have to offer is insignificant. There will always be
someone that needs what you have to give
It is with this appreciation that Younik Foundation was born, a
collaboration between friends with a unique set of skills, imaginative
vision and a burning desire to change the community they come
from
Having broken out of a vicious circle of poverty, poor education and
limited resources to further their dreams they endeavour to create a
platform for a progressive dialogue, a think tank for solutions,
incubator for great ideas and a heuristic platform for learning
Focusing on the depth of impact rather than the width of coverage,
Younik foundation aims to create a new culture of being daring,
imaginative, empirical and most importantly being different
Each one of us was created different in order to make a difference

5. Our Community
Kameel-rivier B or Kameelrivier is a village in
the low-veld region of KwaNdebele, in the
Nkangala District Municipality of the
Mpumalanga province of South Africa
Its difficult to remain pessimistic when you
meet the people of Kameelrivier B, they are
friendly, resilient and eager to learn. They
inspire optimism, enthusiasm and dedication
for change
History Future
KwaNdebele was a bantustan in South Africa,
intended by the apartheid government as a
semi-independent homeland for the Ndebele
people. The homeland was created when the
South African government purchased nineteen
white-owned farms and installed a government
Kameelrivier B is still a developing village with
a population of 11 865 (2001). Life in the village
is not easy with the shadows of apartheid still
lingering. Public infrastructure is rudimentary,
healthcare and social programmes are under
funded and unemployment is persistent.
The education system, which is the only hope
outside this situation, is flawed. Teacher
shortages, school closings, and classroom
overcrowding are a continued struggle the
village face . Students drop out of school simply
because they cannot afford uniforms and those
who matriculate do not further their studies
simply because they cannot afford
Younik Foundation envisages a more brighter
future for this community and its youth.
Through our programmes/projects we aim to
uplift the youth and inspire hope. Our
programmes touch the learners lives throughout
their schooling life, from the first grade all the
way up to university.
We see a community that reads, that is curious
and shuns ignorance. A community that is
aware of its past and works towards its future. A
community that dreams big and has all the
resources that allows it to achieve its goals
A community full of role models that make it
seem possible to achieve virtually anything . A
community with world class information and
learning facilities that gives every kid in the
community a glimpse of all the possibilities that
the world has to offer
6. Our Younik Model
Focus on depth more than width of impact:
We aim to create a significant and lasting impact by focusing on
the learners from the very first grade all the way to employment
Community based
Creating a platform for engagement and dialogue, because we
grew up in this community we aim to come up with solutions
tailored for this community’s values, culture and circumstances
Individualised pathways to a career:
We aim to follow learners from first grade, motivating hard work
and discipline from an early age by rewarding top achievers from
every grade:
1. Ensuring that in grade 9 leaners choose their Grade
10 to suit their strengths and dreams
2. Motivating leaners to produce good grade 11 results
and help them apply to high education institution in
due time
3. Sourcing funding for deserving learners who did well
in Grade 12
4. Follow students through out varsity, monitoring their
progress and motivating them to motivate other
5. Assisting them in finding employment and
becoming individuals with stable income
This is the cornerstone of our work, choosing depth rather than
scale
A sustainable model:
Creating a self sustaining model where those who benefit from
the foundation become partners in the quest to create better
communities
