A Philippine Air Force plane carrying 96 military personnel and crew crashed in the southern Philippines on Sunday, killing 50 people. The C-130 plane missed the runway as it was transporting troops from Cagayan de Oro to Sulu province on the island of Jolo. Witnesses reported that some soldiers jumped out of the aircraft before it crashed and exploded upon impact with the ground in nearby Patikul village. It was the country's worst military air disaster in decades.
