 Environment is the total sum of all the surrounding the living organisms ,
including natural forces and other living things.

3. What is Technology?
 The application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in
industry.
 Machinery and devices developed from scientific knowledge.

4. Analyzing the impact
 It has become very difficult to analyze the impact created on our lives
through certain advance introduced technologies. People, environment and
the society has also impacted through the increase in use of technologies. The
methods of using technology determine whether it will create positive or
negative effects.

5. Positive impacts of technology on the
environment
 Improved energy efficiency: Technology has enabled us to produce and use
energy more efficiently, reducing the amount of energy we need to produce and
use to achieve the same level of output.
 Renewable energy sources: Technology has allowed us to harness the power
of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal power,
reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
 Improved waste management: Technology has allowed us to develop more
efficient ways of managing waste, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in
landfills and reducing the environmental impact of waste disposal.

6. Negative impacts of technology on the
environment
 Environmental degradation- refers to the deterioration of the natural environment due to human
activities such as pollution, deforestation, land-use changes, and climate change. It is a gradual
process that affects the quality of air, water, and soil, and also has impacts on wildlife and
ecosystems.
 Deforestation: The clearing of forests for agriculture, urbanization, and logging has led to the
loss of biodiversity and soil erosion, which affects the ability of ecosystems to function properly.
 Pollution: Technology has contributed to increased pollution, including air pollution from
transportation and industry, water pollution from agricultural runoff and industrial waste, and soil
pollution from improper waste disposal.
 Climate Change: The increase in greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane due
to human activities has caused global warming, sea-level rise, and extreme weather events,
which have negative impacts on ecosystems and human society.

 In conclusion, technology has had both positive and negative impacts on the
environment. While it has enabled us to improve energy efficiency, develop
