3. ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION
Founded in 2009, YNPN Pittsburgh promotes an efficient, viable and inclusive
nonprofit sector in the Pittsburgh region that supports the growth, learning,
and development of young professionals. We are an independent 501c3
nonprofit organization led by our board of directors and various volunteer
committees.
As an all volunteer organization, meaning we employ no staff to execute
programming, administration, and oversight, we appreciate the dedication of
our volunteers to bring professional development opportunities to the
Pittsburgh nonprofit community.

5. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Board of Directors
Board of Directors provide active governance, oversight,
leadership, and strategy for the organization.
10-20 hours/month
● Make a two-year commitment
● Attend at least 75% of monthly board meetings
● Actively participate on at least one committee, including
attending monthly committee meetings and engaging in
tasks and communication between meetings
● Participate in periodic programming and fundraising
activities
● Act as an ambassador for the YNPN Pgh mission
● Board meetings are held the first Thursday of each month
(6pm-8pm) in Shadyside
Committee Volunteer
Committees deliver member-focused programs and manage
many day-to-day operations
4-10 hours/month
● Make a one-year commitment
● Meetings are held monthly (in-person or via phone)
● Must be a YNPN Pittsburgh Member
● Actively participate on a committee, including attending
monthly committee meetings and engaging in tasks and
communication between meetings
6. OUR COMMITTEES
• Governance – you will onboard prospective board and committee members, hone the process and transparency
of onboarding, develop recruiting strategies for new board and committee members, manage board member
nominations, review exit evaluation, and lead the annual policy and bylaws review process.
• Member Relations - you will work with other committee members to welcome new members as they join,
managed the YNPN Pgh member newsletter, create and implement a member recruitment strategy, conduct polls
and surveys to enhance membership experience, and work with the Fundraising Committee on our contract
management system.
• Fundraising - you will work with other committee members to create and implement the annual fundraising plan,
cultivate corporate sponsors for events, steward individual and philanthropic relationships, and work hand-in-
hand with the Treasurer to keep up-to-date and accurate financial records.
• Programs - you will work with other committee members to plan the coordination of networking and professional
development events, work with the Fundraising Committee to finance the organization's events, manage the
Mentoring program, maintain YNPN Pgh’s chapter website and social media platforms, as well as preform post-
event evaluations for review and improvement.

8. HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER
1. If you wish to move forward with volunteering please submit a volunteer
application form (click this link).
2. Afterwards, you will be contacted with the date and time of our next Volunteer
Orientation. They are usually every month depending on demand.
3. After you’re oriented, you will be connected with the chair of the committee you
selected to volunteer for. The committee chair will be your point person to
being your volunteer journey.
For Board of Director volunteers, please complete steps 1 and 2. After orientation you will be asked to attend the
next board meeting for board nomination/election process.

DONORS
Don’t have the time to volunteer? No problem! YNPN Pittsburgh could use
your help in spreading the word about our great programs by:
