The Semantic Web is an extension of the World Wide Web through standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium. The goal of the Semantic Web is to make Internet data machine-readable. a proposed development of the World Wide Web in which data in web pages is structured and tagged in such a way that it can be read directly by computers.

Semantics is related to the word “syntax”.
BUT
Syntaxis how to say something and
semantics is the meaning behind what you say.

 The Web is a system of interlinked documents accessed
via the internet.
 Computers use network protocols to communicate in
networks.
 Web browsers use HTTP to communicate with Web
servers.

 Web 2.0 :-
Web 2.0 describes World Wide Web websites that
emphasize user-generated content and usability (ease of
use , even by non-experts) for end users.
Example:- You Tube , social networking sites such as
facebook etc.

describes the syntax not the semantics .
