Abstract
At Intel’s IT group, we have a large data warehouse for Service Management reporting and
analytics. This talk will show how we utilized CA Agile Central (formerly Rally) to improve
management of key self-service reporting, advanced business intelligence, enterprise
integration, dashboards and operational activities. You’ll see how went from spreadsheet-based
project management to using CA Agile Central and Scrum and finally to the evolution of a
Kanban model for Agile Lifecycle Management

feature delivery)
§ We have to split stories to meet the needs of a fixed iteration
– Because of Analysis delays

What We Learned From Retrospectives

Converting to Kanban
§ Our work was more “flow” vs “Incremental”
from Rally Chalk Talk: Kanban and Scrum

§ As a team, we came up with our Kanban States and WIP limits
– None/Ready
– Analysis
– Development
– Unit Test
– Preview
– Customer Test
– CCB
– Accepted

Results – Cycle Time Comparison
Prior system = 37.1 days Current system = 14.3 days

Results
Conversion from the hybrid waterfall to Agile Scrum took about 3 months
§ Improved Cycle Time
§ Custom field filters enabled easy quarterly summaries
Conversion from Scrum to Kanban took about 3 weeks
§ Agile approach that better aligns to how we work
§ Team initially hesitant to switch but after a week
they were completely bought in
