An Essay On An Honorable Person
Honor is a good quality person who respects others. In my opinion, honor is someone always trying to do what's right, are respectful toward others and
themselves, good reputation, good character judgement. People who are honorable were able to change things for the better. Charles Birdseye was an
American inventor entrepreneur. His invention of finding how to flash–freeze food was a big contribution to the industry and because of this, Charles
Birdseye is an honorable person. The first freezing methods were frequently done at higher temperatures and this was how freezing was produced.
Although they were done at high temperatures, freezing was also done at a slower rate causing the ice crystals to grow more. Now it is understood that

My Personal Identity Essay
A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that
tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities,
ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's
taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more

Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing,
attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life
off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects
of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a
dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some
are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in
nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong
family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people
just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational
experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational

Me !: What Writing Means To You !
What Writing Means to You!!
Writing for me is a way of expression. It is way of letting go, without anyone having to know your thoughts. I believe writing is more interesting
when you are doing it without being forced. Writing can be used in many different areas of life whether it is in school, work, or even at home. We are
always writing, even when we don't think we are. Writing can help you be successful in life, it is a very important qualification on a resume. No place
of employment wants to hire a person who is unable to write. Businesses need to have people who can put their ideas on paper. Unfortunately, writing
papers get boring. However, you have to remember you are writing for a good

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences,
forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no
errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in
kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with no errors. All through elementary my teachers

goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my
whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs,
essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will
have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and
sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and
collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift

How My Writing Has Improved
After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the
reader in many ways. I don't just look at grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise.
Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further on in the future. My strong points as a reader
have also definitely improved after reading the poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of expression
for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to
say. I feel that I am more expressive and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I have learned
new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I
believe that I have grown at organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers without any plans or
organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base
your paper around your thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from their reactions made me
much more aware that my main ideas

Friendship Essay: What Makes A Good Friend?
A friend is someone difficult to find. A friend is someone you can always count on when times are tough. The dictionary's definition of a good
friend is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. A good friend is there when you are struggling. For example,
when a boy breaks your heart a good friend walks you through it and offers a shoulder to cry on. According to Bree Neff, a good friend is someone
who is trustworthy, doesn't talk behind your back, listens to your problems, gives good advice and tries to lend humor along with his or her support.
There are also bad friends, those who pretend to care and then turn around gossiping and starting drama. Good and bad friends are all around you,

You want friends that show they care and do not resent your achievements. A good friend sees good in your accomplishments; because of this they
will not want you to do poorly and will always be looking out for you, hoping you do your best. A trustworthy friend is someone you can count on
no matter what. They are someone you can call in the middle of the night and vent to, or just talk. They are someone who, if they say they are
going to do something, they do it and don't bail out. Good friends are people with whom you can talk to and trust with your secrets. You can tell a
friend anything and know they won't open their mouth just for the fun of it because they like and respect you too much to hurt you. If you have
something you feel like you can't tell anyone about, they are the friends you can tell. A good friend is someone who when you tell them personal
stuff you don't have to worry, you know your secret is safe. Trusted friends are those you can tell your flaws to and know your revelations are safe.
Sometimes after you tell people certain information you think: "What in the world was I thinking?" but a trustworthy person won't ever make you feel
like that. What is a loyal friend? A loyal friend is someone who never lets you down. They are someone who does things with you even though these
things maybe totally boring, but they still do them. Loyal friends won't back out at the last second. They stick with

The First And Hardest Part Of Writing An Essay
The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a topic to be written about, but in some cases that
may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic. The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable
about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about, will take away the anxiety of not knowing where
to start or what to write about. If you chose to challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a
topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a paper about cars, do not make cars what your
paper is about, because although it is a broad topic it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed
our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write about and leaves the door open to give you more to
write about. The second step, and what I believe to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without
sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from. Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay
is about "how technology has benefited students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how technology is used in

Describe Yourself As A Writer
When I was young, I always knew that college is important to the major that you choose. When I see my aunt, I ask many questions about college and
how it is like. I thought it would be challenging and stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see myself as a
writer, I think about the process, then I consider the improvements I need to make, and lastly the strengths I have.
First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right away. I start right away because I don't want my
work to be late and I have other assignment to do for other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I just
think about what I know and don't know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do sentences or sometimes words only. It depends on the topic
or essay I write. I find the outline is a helpful way to get started.
After the outline, I start researching the topic. I use the internet for the research. I use it because it is helpful. It is helpful because I take examples of
how to start. I use google and look at images of essays. It provides inspiration for the essay....show more content...

Marriage Essay
Marriage
What does marriage mean? By definition, marriage is "the legal union of a man and a woman as husband and wife" (Webster's Dictionary). Most
people claim that they want their marriage to last a lifetime. Because over half of all marriages in the United States end in a divorce, most people lack
the understanding of what it takes to stay married. I believe that couples should become more aware of the commitment that they are making when they
enter into marriage.
Men and women should get to know one another completely before deciding to get married. Important issues such as religion, finances, career, and
whether or not to have children should be discussed so that the couple can learn each other's views regarding the...show more content...
Why did they not discuss this issue before they got married or did they think the other one would change after saying their wedding vows? Marriage is
not about changing someone; instead, it is about loving your partner for his or her beliefs.
Rather than giving up and ending the marriage, many couples could save the marriage by trying to work through the problems that arise. Many
people do not realize how much hard work has to be put into a marriage for it to be successful. When planning a wedding, some couples spend a lot
of time preparing the vows that will be exchanged during the ceremony, but sadly the partners fail to live by the vows day after day. Scores of married
couples drift apart because their hectic lives do not allow them to spend enough quality time together, which is important for a healthy marriage.
Communication is also an essential factor in working through problems in a marriage.
Entering into marriage for the wrong reason usually leads to divorce. Sometimes an individual will say that he or she married for money, or he or she
may claim to have married for love. Many times, lust is mistaken for love; consequently, when the passion ends so does the marriage. Some people
choose to marry wealthy people solely to gain financial security, but eventually they will find that money does not lead to happiness. Others enter into
marriage believing that it is a cure–all that will make

Reflection On My Writing Skills
Reflection
My writing skills which I have worked on over the few months I have been in English 102 have changed quite a bit in my opinion. There are many
things which I have improved upon that were amongst my weaker writing skills when the year began. On the opposite side of that point, there are also
many things which I still need to improve upon if I want to truly elevate my writing to a level that I will be confident in. Finally, I have gained new
skills outside of writing from this class, particularly the activities which we did in class at various points throughout the year. These things all cumulate
together to give me an appreciation of English courses which I did not previously have.
Throughout this semester there are many skills that I have noticed have improved through the constant writing of essays for this class. The one
that I find most noticeable is a habit I had long struggled with which was essentially my tendency to be over necessarily wordy when writing my
essays. I believe that I was able to somewhat fix this subconsciously, just by knowing that I was no longer in high school, and could no longer get by
with just attempting to fill up my word count. I also believe I have greatly improved in my topic selection. In high school I would throw caution to
the wind and just pick whatever topic came to mind just in an effort to get it done. I have been much more calculated in college, and I believe that it
has helped me write better essays. While these were the

Personal Experience with Writing
I have always considered writing to be a work in progress, and it constantly can be improved. I have always been devoted to writing. I loved to write
stories as a child because I could use my creativity and create any type of character I desired. But I have struggled with writing as well. English has
never been my forte. I have received A's, B's, C's, and D's on essays. I truly never found my voice in writing. In my high school, English teachers
would give me mixed reviews on my writing. For example, in 9th grade my English teacher said I was organized with my thoughts, and my writing
process was excellent. While in 10th,11th grade ,12th grade my teachers only said negative things about my essays. Not being a strong writer made me

The essay prompts, that I was given allowed me to challenge myself. The essay prompts were challenging because each essay I had to approach it
differently. For each essay, I wanted to be creative on how I would approach it. As a writer, you have always change you writing. It was
challenging to decide how I wanted to structure each essay. But, challenge is the key towards being a perfect writer. Finally, reflecting on English
114A/B my attitude and style of writing has changed. My attitude has changed because now I see writing as being therapeutic. I see writing as
something to help me relieve stress. It allows me release my feelings, rather than expressing my words to someone. Also, my style of writing has
changed. Taking the English stretch course at CSUN allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, I was able to let go of the five
paragraph essay. It was hard, but I was able to do it slowly. Moreover, I was able to let go of the habit of starting all my essay's with a quote. It was
not easy to be open to changing my writing style. I had to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, some people are scared of change because they
believe that change is bad, because you do not know what to expect. I was not scared to change my writing style because I look as change as
challenge, and the opportunity to start something new. Adjusting my writing style was a challenge, but I was able to do it. It is

Personal Essay : My Personal Qualities
My Personal Qualities
Over the course, I have learned that all people are unique and have their own personal traits and qualities. One person does not just simply fall into

we should be proud of and embrace these unique qualities of ours.
As a perfectionist, I like to present my things beautifully and creatively, and it is clearly seen on my collage. I appreciate beautiful things and this is

I know and I have been told that I am a kind and sympathetic person, because I love to help people and put a smile on their faces. Even when someone

pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul". I chose to use this quote because I adore it and I go by it. What matters most is in the inside, not
on the outside. I think people sometimes, even me, get too caught up and try too hard to look beautiful, but they don't focus on personality.
A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because I already knew I had these traits as a part of my

and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last year, I took a survey to figure out my learning
style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can
be learned and strengthened.
I learned plenty of things from my results. My values–which I didn't see clearly–are now clear, and I found out the little unique things that make up my
personality. From my personality survey, I am mostly artistic,

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and
continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome
obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming
the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is
to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more

I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six
mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth
fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just
given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now
my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways
than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the
foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with
a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point.

Why I Want To Be A Writer
I want to be a writer when I grow up. Being a writer is hard. The success of your job is dependent not only on whether you have done it well but also
on whether other people think you have done well. I would like to be a writer. I don't know if I can do it. It's like any other job; you never know
until you try. But few other jobs are as dependent on the opinions of others and on something that has no basis in fact or logic. One word out of
place can tear a whole work apart, and yet a few black and white words arranged just so can unleash a world of color and feeling. A spark of inspiration
can create a new world from nothing, metaphorically speaking. It is the gift of God. He gives some people a story to tell and the ability to tell it. Like
any gift from God, it is something to be used to His glory and not taken lightly. To use any gift takes work....show more content...
In college you can major in Creative Writing but many authors recommend that you do not. Instead, they advise that you study Literature instead, the
great works of authors past and present. If you don't know what is good, how can you write something good yourself? Or you can do this outside of
college and simply read the great works of literature on your own, studying what makes these writers great, what writing tricks and techniques make
up their style. The purpose is not to copy them; the purpose is to be inspired. To be awriter you must write. This is the most important piece of advice.
Write anything, even if it's as flat as the floor. The more you use words, the more they become willing to be used by you. The more you write, the

Who Are You As A Writer? Essay
When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer
has been influenced by so many different sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that "literacy
is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a person to become literate and shape the way the person
actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43) My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by my
mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have
convinced myself that I am a terrible writer, and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden and a
huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society.
When writing, I write to the guidelines in order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my own ideas
because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on
things, but that was not the "right" way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they wanted to hear, and
even then I was not to the level they

The People Who Have Influenced Me Essay example
My grandfather ! This is the first thing coming up to my mind when being asked about the one who is the most important to me! From time to time,
the caring and educating professionally of my beloved granddad grew me up.
If he had not given me opportunities to take his lessons, maybe I would not have realized that what I had to do to make my life really valuable.
Serving as a colonel in military, my granddad taught me to be disciplined– one of the most important characteristics for young people. Certainly, it was
not easy for me at the beginning. I was lazy to get up early in the morning to do exercise, go to bed in the exact time and not go out before finishing

As growing older, coping with more obstacles, I really needed his advice. My granddad talked with me like a true friend, openly and sympathetically.
He told me some stories when he was at the same age as me. So, from those I found out the solutions for my own troubles. The best method for me,
according to him, was self– study from books and anything around. I learned that confidence and optimism were essential for life. When I failed the

but impossible. Now come back to your state, you must know that failure is the common thing. But you will have another choices, another options,

Qualities of an Honorable Person

  • 1. An Essay On An Honorable Person Honor is a good quality person who respects others. In my opinion, honor is someone always trying to do what's right, are respectful toward others and themselves, good reputation, good character judgement. People who are honorable were able to change things for the better. Charles Birdseye was an American inventor entrepreneur. His invention of finding how to flash–freeze food was a big contribution to the industry and because of this, Charles Birdseye is an honorable person. The first freezing methods were frequently done at higher temperatures and this was how freezing was produced. Although they were done at high temperatures, freezing was also done at a slower rate causing the ice crystals to grow more. Now it is understood that using Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Personal Identity Essay A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content... Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a person's identity. I have not had too many educational Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Me !: What Writing Means To You ! What Writing Means to You!! Writing for me is a way of expression. It is way of letting go, without anyone having to know your thoughts. I believe writing is more interesting when you are doing it without being forced. Writing can be used in many different areas of life whether it is in school, work, or even at home. We are always writing, even when we don't think we are. Writing can help you be successful in life, it is a very important qualification on a resume. No place of employment wants to hire a person who is unable to write. Businesses need to have people who can put their ideas on paper. Unfortunately, writing papers get boring. However, you have to remember you are writing for a good Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content... I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that other nurses will not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Job Skills Essay Laura G. Thompson Angie Miller English IV November 6th, 2014 Important Job Skills There are several different skills that are important to have to have no matter what the job you are in search of or already have. Employers have told us for quite sometime now what they expect out usНѕ and I'm going to talk about the most basic ones everyone should have, including: confidence in themselves and their work, excellent communication skills, flexibility, adaptability and being reliable. Everyone is drawn to confidenceНѕ it's a proven fact. Although, you also want to make sure you're still able to accept positive feedback and apply the lessons learned. • 6. How My Writing Has Improved After this semester of English 102, at Bristol Community College I feel that I have gained the skill to articulate what I want to convey to the reader in many ways. I don't just look at grammatical error, but instead I look for ways to make my sentences more effective and concise. Nevertheless, I hope that this strategy will continue to help me improve my writing even further on in the future. My strong points as a reader have also definitely improved after reading the poems and stories we experienced this semester. Writing has been an important form of expression for me. I find myself to be very soft spoken and speaking verbally is usually difficult for me because I can't always seem to find the right words to say. I feel that I am more expressive and have more control over what I want to say. While this semester progressed toward its end, I have learned new writing skills and gradually learned how to engage with audiences. This skill was very useful in meeting my course goals in English 102. I believe that I have grown at organization and careful stream my thoughts as well. Before I would just begin writing my papers without any plans or organization, along with no definite idea of where I would be going with the assignments, but throughout this course I've learned that you should base your paper around your thesis statement. Another skill I took from this class was to value my classmate's responses, from their reactions made me much more aware that my main ideas Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Friendship Essay: What Makes A Good Friend? A friend is someone difficult to find. A friend is someone you can always count on when times are tough. The dictionary's definition of a good friend is a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard. A good friend is there when you are struggling. For example, when a boy breaks your heart a good friend walks you through it and offers a shoulder to cry on. According to Bree Neff, a good friend is someone who is trustworthy, doesn't talk behind your back, listens to your problems, gives good advice and tries to lend humor along with his or her support. There are also bad friends, those who pretend to care and then turn around gossiping and starting drama. Good and bad friends are all around you, involved in...show more content... You want friends that show they care and do not resent your achievements. A good friend sees good in your accomplishments; because of this they will not want you to do poorly and will always be looking out for you, hoping you do your best. A trustworthy friend is someone you can count on no matter what. They are someone you can call in the middle of the night and vent to, or just talk. They are someone who, if they say they are going to do something, they do it and don't bail out. Good friends are people with whom you can talk to and trust with your secrets. You can tell a friend anything and know they won't open their mouth just for the fun of it because they like and respect you too much to hurt you. If you have something you feel like you can't tell anyone about, they are the friends you can tell. A good friend is someone who when you tell them personal stuff you don't have to worry, you know your secret is safe. Trusted friends are those you can tell your flaws to and know your revelations are safe. Sometimes after you tell people certain information you think: "What in the world was I thinking?" but a trustworthy person won't ever make you feel like that. What is a loyal friend? A loyal friend is someone who never lets you down. They are someone who does things with you even though these things maybe totally boring, but they still do them. • 8. The First And Hardest Part Of Writing An Essay The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic. The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about, will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a paper about cars, do not make cars what your paper is about, because although it is a broad topic it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write about and leaves the door open to give you more to write about. The second step, and what I believe to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from. Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay is about "how technology has benefited students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how technology is used in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Describe Yourself As A Writer When I was young, I always knew that college is important to the major that you choose. When I see my aunt, I ask many questions about college and how it is like. I thought it would be challenging and stressful. Then it was stressful because I want to improve my writing. When I see myself as a writer, I think about the process, then I consider the improvements I need to make, and lastly the strengths I have. First, I think about the writing process. When the teacher or professor give me an essay, I start right away. I start right away because I don't want my work to be late and I have other assignment to do for other classes. Once I read the prompt, I start my outline to know what to write in my essay. I just think about what I know and don't know, then put it onto paper. For the outline, I will do sentences or sometimes words only. It depends on the topic or essay I write. I find the outline is a helpful way to get started. After the outline, I start researching the topic. I use the internet for the research. I use it because it is helpful. It is helpful because I take examples of how to start. • 10. Marriage Essay Marriage What does marriage mean? By definition, marriage is "the legal union of a man and a woman as husband and wife" (Webster's Dictionary). Most people claim that they want their marriage to last a lifetime. Because over half of all marriages in the United States end in a divorce, most people lack the understanding of what it takes to stay married. I believe that couples should become more aware of the commitment that they are making when they enter into marriage. Men and women should get to know one another completely before deciding to get married. Important issues such as religion, finances, career, and whether or not to have children should be discussed so that the couple can learn each other's views regarding the...show more content... Why did they not discuss this issue before they got married or did they think the other one would change after saying their wedding vows? Marriage is not about changing someone; instead, it is about loving your partner for his or her beliefs. Rather than giving up and ending the marriage, many couples could save the marriage by trying to work through the problems that arise. Many people do not realize how much hard work has to be put into a marriage for it to be successful. When planning a wedding, some couples spend a lot of time preparing the vows that will be exchanged during the ceremony, but sadly the partners fail to live by the vows day after day. Scores of married couples drift apart because their hectic lives do not allow them to spend enough quality time together, which is important for a healthy marriage. Communication is also an essential factor in working through problems in a marriage. Entering into marriage for the wrong reason usually leads to divorce. Sometimes an individual will say that he or she married for money, or he or she may claim to have married for love. Many times, lust is mistaken for love; consequently, when the passion ends so does the marriage. Some people choose to marry wealthy people solely to gain financial security, but eventually they will find that money does not lead to happiness. Others enter into marriage believing that it is a cure–all that will make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Reflection On My Writing Skills Reflection My writing skills which I have worked on over the few months I have been in English 102 have changed quite a bit in my opinion. There are many things which I have improved upon that were amongst my weaker writing skills when the year began. On the opposite side of that point, there are also many things which I still need to improve upon if I want to truly elevate my writing to a level that I will be confident in. Finally, I have gained new skills outside of writing from this class, particularly the activities which we did in class at various points throughout the year. These things all cumulate together to give me an appreciation of English courses which I did not previously have. Throughout this semester there are many skills that I have noticed have improved through the constant writing of essays for this class. The one that I find most noticeable is a habit I had long struggled with which was essentially my tendency to be over necessarily wordy when writing my essays. I believe that I was able to somewhat fix this subconsciously, just by knowing that I was no longer in high school, and could no longer get by with just attempting to fill up my word count. I also believe I have greatly improved in my topic selection. In high school I would throw caution to the wind and just pick whatever topic came to mind just in an effort to get it done. I have been much more calculated in college, and I believe that it has helped me write better essays. While these were the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Personal Experience with Writing I have always considered writing to be a work in progress, and it constantly can be improved. I have always been devoted to writing. I loved to write stories as a child because I could use my creativity and create any type of character I desired. But I have struggled with writing as well. English has never been my forte. I have received A's, B's, C's, and D's on essays. I truly never found my voice in writing. In my high school, English teachers would give me mixed reviews on my writing. For example, in 9th grade my English teacher said I was organized with my thoughts, and my writing process was excellent. While in 10th,11th grade ,12th grade my teachers only said negative things about my essays. Not being a strong writer made me ...show more content... The essay prompts, that I was given allowed me to challenge myself. The essay prompts were challenging because each essay I had to approach it differently. For each essay, I wanted to be creative on how I would approach it. As a writer, you have always change you writing. It was challenging to decide how I wanted to structure each essay. But, challenge is the key towards being a perfect writer. Finally, reflecting on English 114A/B my attitude and style of writing has changed. My attitude has changed because now I see writing as being therapeutic. I see writing as something to help me relieve stress. It allows me release my feelings, rather than expressing my words to someone. Also, my style of writing has changed. Taking the English stretch course at CSUN allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, I was able to let go of the five paragraph essay. It was hard, but I was able to do it slowly. Moreover, I was able to let go of the habit of starting all my essay's with a quote. It was not easy to be open to changing my writing style. I had to step out of my comfort zone. For instance, some people are scared of change because they believe that change is bad, because you do not know what to expect. I was not scared to change my writing style because I look as change as challenge, and the opportunity to start something new. Adjusting my writing style was a challenge, but I was able to do it. Well, there always that someone or person who has or had influenced you or even changed your life during you past years in your life. My influence is my one and only father. My father has influenced me in so many ways that has actually changed my life. The main three ways were for me to keep on task, keep safe and stay out of drugs and, and mostly, to believe in yourself. First of all, school is a hard thing to concentrate on. This influence had made me to talk to more people and get to know them and also to get to know new things that I did not even know that I was possible to do. • 14. Personal Essay : My Personal Qualities My Personal Qualities Over the course, I have learned that all people are unique and have their own personal traits and qualities. One person does not just simply fall into one category, but various categories. What is beautiful about all of us is that we all have diverse personalities, traits and qualities. I have learned that we should be proud of and embrace these unique qualities of ours. As a perfectionist, I like to present my things beautifully and creatively, and it is clearly seen on my collage. I appreciate beautiful things and this is why I got beauty/aesthetics as one of my highest totals on the values survey. I know and I have been told that I am a kind and sympathetic person, because I love to help people and put a smile on their faces. Even when someone is being rude, I try to "kill them with kindness" in return. I used the quote: "Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul". I chose to use this quote because I adore it and I go by it. What matters most is in the inside, not on the outside. I think people sometimes, even me, get too caught up and try too hard to look beautiful, but they don't focus on personality. A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because I already knew I had these traits as a part of my personality. However, the results from mylearning styles survey were a little surprising to me. I got visual as my highest total score, while kinesthetic and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last year, I took a survey to figure out my learning style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can be learned and strengthened. I learned plenty of things from my results. My values–which I didn't see clearly–are now clear, and I found out the little unique things that make up my personality. From my personality survey, I am mostly artistic, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content... I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. • 16. Why I Want To Be A Writer I want to be a writer when I grow up. Being a writer is hard. The success of your job is dependent not only on whether you have done it well but also on whether other people think you have done well. I would like to be a writer. I don't know if I can do it. It's like any other job; you never know until you try. But few other jobs are as dependent on the opinions of others and on something that has no basis in fact or logic. One word out of place can tear a whole work apart, and yet a few black and white words arranged just so can unleash a world of color and feeling. A spark of inspiration can create a new world from nothing, metaphorically speaking. It is the gift of God. He gives some people a story to tell and the ability to tell it. • 17. Who Are You As A Writer? Essay When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer has been influenced by so many different sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that "literacy is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a person to become literate and shape the way the person actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43) My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by my mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have convinced myself that I am a terrible writer, and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden and a huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society. When writing, I write to the guidelines in order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my own ideas because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on things, but that was not the "right" way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they wanted to hear, and even then I was not to the level they Get more content on HelpWriting.net

From time to time, the caring and educating professionally of my beloved granddad grew me up. If he had not given me opportunities to take his lessons, maybe I would not have realized that what I had to do to make my life really valuable. Serving as a colonel in military, my granddad taught me to be disciplined– one of the most important characteristics for young people. Certainly, it was not easy for me at the beginning. " Family is your first school," my granddad said. As growing older, coping with more obstacles, I really needed his advice. My granddad talked with me like a true friend, openly and sympathetically. He told me some stories when he was at the same age as me. So, from those I found out the solutions for my own troubles. The best method for me, according to him, was self– study from books and anything around. I learned that confidence and optimism were essential for life. When I failed the chemistry exam, I was much hopeless. My granddad asked me to read a piece of the novel:" THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA" (Earnest Hemmingway). After reading he asked me" What have you learned from this book?" I answered him that it was impossible for the old man to fish the big fish like that. He smiled and told me " Something that the people can not reach though they try their best, which expresses that people pine to do it but impossible.
