Who are we: Rochester College is an
established men’s Division I ACHA Ice
hockey team.
Where are we: The Hockey program is under
the radar with a low budget staff. The
program is in the process of building their
team by reaching out to potential players
and staff to help establish the program into
a successful team.

How do we get there?
Rochester College hockey program and their
PR team is committed to creating objectives
to achieve these goals.
4. “Be a Fan from the start!”
How: Plan a free skate event with current player at home rink for
fans
Cost: Free of Charge
Explain: By conducting a free skate, this will open the door to
future fans and future recruits to the program. This will also
demonstrate the program’s involvement with the community and
encourage current/future alumni and fans of the program to
invest in Purchasing season tickets, merchandise, purchase
products from our sponsors and potentially develop boosters.
5. Key figures in the community supporting the team
How: Display pictures of public figures. For example,
using the Mayor of Rochester Hills, MI supporting the
hockey program by wearing Rochester College
Warriors hockey merchandise.
Cost: Free of Charge
Explain: Displaying public figures who are supporting
the program can attract both potential fans and
recruits by demonstrating their relationship to the
program. Posting theses pictures on social network
sites and the main website can generate Facebook
“likes” and curiosity. This will also demonstrate to
potential sponsors how popular the program is in the
community.
6. Like the program’s Facebook page
How: Promote “Like us on facebook” by
handing out free water bottles.
Cost: $275.00 for Customize white/red
water bottles with RC Hockey “Like us on
Facebook”.
Explain: Our Public relations team will be
giving away free water bottles at school and
public events that displays the team’s logo
and promote “Like us on Facebook”. This can
generate likes on the team’s Facebook page
and build a fan base by help reaching our
goal of 300 likes.
7. How do we know this will work?
Goal #2: Accomplished/In progress. Our PR team reached out to a local
restaurant “Fuddruckers” for an opportunity to support the Hockey
program. The owner of the establishment agreed to pay $1,500 for the
2013-2014 Season to help pay for the program’s expenses for
sponsoring their business at all home games.
Objective #1: In progress. Recently, our PR team and Hockey program
requested permission from the owner of the Great Lakes Sports City
Arena (Fraser Arena) to run a community event on September 14th 2013.
The arena agreed and will support the event.
Objective #2: Completed. Our PR team contacted Mayor Barnett by
offering a featured piece of his support towards our Hockey Program.
Mayor Barnett agreed and will participate in future events.
Our Social media specialist is highly active on our Facebook and Twitter
accounts by promoting news, events, contests and fun facts.

Our program will use the offseason from now til the end of
September to recruit fans and potential recruitments. It is
important to create awareness of our Hockey program
through Social Media, News outlets Alumni, Current players
and other media outlets before the start of the season. This
could create ticket sales, social media involvement and
interest.
