RESUMÉ
A resumѐ is a formal document that contains a job applicant’s qualifications
for a position. It is usually submitted together with a customized cover letter.
Whatever the format, most resumѐs contain a summary of your skills and
experience, followed by a bulleted list of your previous jobs arranged in reverse
chronological form and a list of degrees, awards, and achievements earned. A final
section might be included to emphasize special skills, such as hobbies that can be
useful in the workplace, professional connections, technological proficiency, mastery
of a foreign language, and special honors received.
Conciseness and cleanliness are essential when you write your resumѐ since
people assigned to sorting these things out have limited attention spans and do not
have much time to spare.
Contents of a Resumѐ
The following should be included in your resumѐ:
 Contact Details- name, address, contact number, and e-mail address.
 Summary of Qualifications – highlights of your experiences and
accomplishments
Example: Ten years of teaching experience where my expertise in the English
language and various teaching strategies have been applied
 Key Skills and Strengths- strengths and transferable skills, such as the
following:

professional qualities--- has knowledge of the professional and
technical aspects of the job
personal qualities--- adjusts to the ever-changing demands, conditions,
and challenges at work
entrepreneurial qualities--- has a deep understanding of commercial

 Personal Attributes- ways you can show that you are dependable, honest,
trustworthy, and eager to be taught

DR. CHRISTINE L. MORENO
Director, University Admissions Office
Iloilo City State University
La Consolacion, Iloilo City
Dear Ma’am:
Good day!
I am Herman V. Sales, a senior high school graduate of Makabebe National High
School. After careful consideration, I have chosen to apply at Iloilo City State
University because the College of Education in this prestigious institution offers the
best education program in the whole region for aspiring teachers, as reflected in your
graduates’ teacher’s licensure exam results.
I have always wanted to be an educator because I consider learning and academics
an utmost priority. My transcript of records and the academic honors I received in my
elementary and high school years prove that I have the highest regard for education,
and this will enable me to contribute positively to the university. I believe that Iloilo
City State University can help me make my aspirations of becoming globally
competitive in the field of education become a reality. At the same time, I will also be
of great impact to the school by sharing my talents and skills with teachers and other
students.
7
I am also active in various community projects. One which I am particularly proud of
is the “It is Story Time” community engagement activity. I helped organize this
endeavor and its aim is to give hope and joy to orphaned kids in our village, children
who have no parents to tell them bedtime stories. Because of this project, I learned
how teaching can touch people’s lives in such a profound way, and this experience
inspired me to pursue a career in teaching.
Attached with this letter are the duly-filled application form and a recommendation
letter from my high school principal. I hope that you find my qualifications
commendable enough to be given a slot in this institution. I can be reached through
the phone number I provided above.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
Respectfully yours,
HermanV.Sales

Ms. Grace Joy Militante
Admission Director
Dear Grace Joy,
I am a graduating student at Makabebe National High School. I want you to consider
me for admission at the Iloilo City State University for the education course. I learned
from friends that your school offers the best education program, so please do accept
me.
Together with this letter is the application form I accomplished and the
recommendation letter from the high school principal. They are really impressed with
my achievements. I hope you are too. I am also attaching my transcript of records.
10
A resumѐ is a formal document that provides an overview of
your professional qualifications, including your relevant work
experience, skills, education, and notable accomplishments.
A college admission application letter is written by a student
to enter a university. It provides an overview of the student’s academic
achievements and extracurricular involvements.
Feel free to peruse it so that you will know how excellent my academic performance
was during my high school years. I am smart, eager to learn, and very patient. I
believe that these attributes will help bring me to the top of the class.
I was not involved in any extracurricular activities because I chose academics over
them, but I tend to get along with other people very well. I have not had any conflicts
and misunderstandings with anybody. Also, I have the highest respect for authority,
and do not have a bad record at my previous school.
I am hoping for a positive response from you. Thank you very much.
Respectfully yours,
Axel N.Villagracia

MORENO Director, University Admissions Office Iloilo City State University La Consolacion, Iloilo City Dear Ma’am: Good day! I am Herman V. Sales, a senior high school graduate of Makabebe National High School. After careful consideration, I have chosen to apply at Iloilo City State University because the College of Education in this prestigious institution offers the best education program in the whole region for aspiring teachers, as reflected in your graduates’ teacher’s licensure exam results. I have always wanted to be an educator because I consider learning and academics an utmost priority. My transcript of records and the academic honors I received in my elementary and high school years prove that I have the highest regard for education, and this will enable me to contribute positively to the university. I believe that Iloilo City State University can help me make my aspirations of becoming globally competitive in the field of education become a reality. At the same time, I will also be of great impact to the school by sharing my talents and skills with teachers and other students.
  • 7. 7 I am also active in various community projects. One which I am particularly proud of is the “It is Story Time” community engagement activity. I helped organize this endeavor and its aim is to give hope and joy to orphaned kids in our village, children who have no parents to tell them bedtime stories. Because of this project, I learned how teaching can touch people’s lives in such a profound way, and this experience inspired me to pursue a career in teaching. Attached with this letter are the duly-filled application form and a recommendation letter from my high school principal. I hope that you find my qualifications commendable enough to be given a slot in this institution. I can be reached through the phone number I provided above. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Respectfully yours, HermanV.Sales HERMAN V. SALES Applicant III.
