Music Video Evaluation. Sweet Disposition- The Temper Trap
This is going to be an evaluation on my rough edit of my music video. My music video will be for the
song Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap. I will be explaining the good and bad points and also
the things I would like to change. My music video is a ‘day in the life’ type video. It’s an insight of our
lives as teenagers.
Throughout my music video I’ve tried to edit it so each shot changes in time with the music. This was
a big importance for me at the beginning of the video when the music is slow. As the music increases
the timing of the videos aren’t as important. We didn’t aim for a narrative in the music video we
wanted to make it look as real as possible. The song is young so it is aimed at the younger
generation.
The things I like about my music video are the quicker shots and the way I’ve faded two clips of
footage together. I like that it doesn’t make sense. I like the randomness and the unpredictability
about it.
Although, there are quite a few things I would like to change about my music video. At first we
thought it was unfortunate that some of our footage was blurry, but as a group we decided that it
makes these shots look more real life. Firstly I would like to add a caption at the beginning of the
song. I would like it to scroll onto the bottom left hand side of the screen during the first shot. I
would like it to say “Sweet Disposition- The temper Trap”. The first shot is 6 seconds long which
means there is enough time for the caption to scroll on and off before the second shot.
At 1:16 there is a slowed down clip of me and Georgia I would like to remove this clip and replace it
or speed the clip up. At 1:20 I have reverse the moonwalk shot, I have decided I want to replace this.
At 1:30 I have faded two shots together one of me playing guitar and one of Georgia playing guitar. I
would like to delete this and replace it with a 3 way split screenof each one of us playing the guitar.
At 2:23 I want to make this shot higher key. At 2:31 I need to cut this clip down so we cannot see the
boy moving with the sign. Also the same at 3:38 and 3:41.
At 3:34 there is a very short clip. It was filmed on a dull day and does not match the brightness of the
rest of the video. I need to make the brightness a higher key to set a happier feel.
The shot at 3:35 is repeated further on in the video; therefor I am going to change it to another clip.
The shot at 3:22 drags on for a bit longer than I want it to, I am going to split it and put in another
shot clip.
At 3:34 the shot is outside and it looks very dull and doesn’t match the rest of the video of high key
lighting, therefore I would like to make this shot brighter.
At 3:38 there must be a gap in between two of the shots as it goes black I will fill in this gap.
Finally I am going to change it so the last shot finishes a second earlier so the last beat goes onto a
black screen.

I think the song we chose fits well with the idea of video as it’s about living whilst being young. We
thought that doing a “day in the life of” type video would be a good idea as this is what a lot of
popular artist are doing. Although theirs are usually filmed whilst being on tour, we filmed our
everyday life.
