- The term ‘pop’ originally

abbreviation of “popular”
- The genre derived via rock
and roll but since the late
1950s pop has had the
special meaning of non-
classical music
Pop Music consists of a wide range of
genres which include different styles
from jazz to country; rock and roll to
rap; be-bop to hip-hop
It is usually described as commercially
friendly, marketable, memorable, with
vocals, lyrics and instruments.
