Penelope gets lost in the woods during a storm and finds her way to a castle where the Queen lives. The Queen lets Penelope stay the night but puts a pea under her mattress as a test to see if Penelope is truly a princess. Penelope tosses and turns all night from the discomfort of the pea. In the morning, the Queen and Prince are surprised that Penelope had such an unpleasant night, proving she must be a princess. They get married in the end. The story has a clear beginning, middle, and end to keep it simple for children to follow along.
2. What my story is called is ‘Princess And the Pea’ I have based t o the original
story, just changed some parts about it. I have three characters in Penelope,
the Queen and the Princes.
• The narrative of my story is A lady called Penelope works in a bakery and
she on her way home, when you gets caught in a storm. She runs in to the
woods where she lives, but the storm is that heavy and misty she ends up
getting lost. Penelope ends up coming across a castle, where the queen
lives. She goes and knocks on the door and get an unwelcome greeting by
the 2 guards and the queen, ‘what do you want?’ Penelope tells her
what’s happened, which then the queen lets her. The queen lends her a
bed to stay in for the night, But the queen ends up putting a pea under her
bed; Her son the prince is wanting to find a princess but, the only way
they will know if she is one is they princess is if she had an uncomfortable
night sleep. Penelope lays in her bed tossing and turning all night as, the
pea rummages through her piles of duvets. She wakes up the next day
after an unpleasant sleep, to be greeted by the queen and prince.
• “How was your sleep Penelope, we hoped you slept well’
• “ i’m sorry, but it was awful i just could sleep’
3. My story is a closed narrative because it reaches it’s conclusion. It has a start,
middle and end. I wanted to do this structure because it makes it more simple for
for the kids to remember and understand what is happening in the book. I didn’t
want to expand the book further and make it have a cliff hanger on, as they might
forget what is already happening in the first one; as well you are leaving it longer
and will have read different books by then. Another reason it might become
boring for them as, most things they watch or read has a ending.
My story just has single strand narrative, it only has one story line. I did this so I
don’t need to expand on the story and create different story lines. I did this so it
just get straight to the point of what the story is all about. Furth more Children
struggle to cope with more and like something that is more basic to attract there
attention. I have one main character and the focus is all on her she is called
Penelope.
But a book that i am going to compare it too is biff and chip this is a multi-strand
book, but each book they do has many different story lines. This is a popular book
because you are getting to know what the characters are like, you are learning
each time what they like and dislike as well as the type of adventures they go on.
This books keep to intrigued to read more of their books because they can do one
book based on each characters or they can be all together. If you read on there
books you are able to remember if any of them relate back to any books before.
4. I have created a linear book which is where its all in order and doesn't’t create to
much confusion for people that are reading. It’s a simple format and makes it
easier to the audience to understand. If it wasn’t a linear book they would have to
think back and forth to what happened and what is going to happened.
My book is unrealistic, it does not portray anything that is would happen in really
life. The characters and story line is all abstract, but by doing this gives a false
hope of imagination.
Components- my book has a clear start and shows who the main character is
straight away, so they audience can follow her. I am wanting to readers to follow
Penelope's story.
Conflict- my book shows no conflict but, Penelope is not a princess and the prince
is wanting to find one, so the queen puts a pea in her bed
Resolution- the conclusion is Penelope couldn't’get to sleep that night and the
queen and princes are surprised because it shows that’s she is a princess and In
the end they get married.
Englma in my story to intrigue my viewers is, that any one can be a princess it
doesn’t matter if you don’t have a family that are in the royal family. Because my
audience is children aged 5-8 female, will make them feel confident and make
them feel like they are a princess them selves. And the climax to changing my
character fate is when she decided to go to the castle, as she isnt exspecting to
become a princess.
