The main problem/conflict throughout the novel is the struggle to survive. The 24 contestants in the Hunger Games must kill each other and be the last
one remaining. Another conflict is the conflict that Katniss has with herself. She battles with herself, unable to decide whether she loves Gale or if she
loves Peeta. For all of the contestants, they must decide who to befriend, betray, or kill.

While competing in the Hunger Games, Katniss is unsure if Peeta is on her side or not because he betrays her and joins the Careers; plotting to team
up and kill the weak. This make Katniss extremely confused, causing her to be uncertain of whether or not she will be able to kill Peeta since he is
her supposed star–crossed lover. She also debates with herself because she cannot decide if she is in love with Gale or Peeta. During the Hunger Games,
Katniss becomes friends with Rue through the mocking jay pin. Rue is killed, but Katniss remembers her by using the wisdom that she learned from

Children in District 12 have no chances for education and have to work as an adult in order to feed their family. Katniss has to hunt illegally and
even risk her life to get into the forest to find food for her family (Sparknotes, n.d.). Some other villagers are not able to hunt so that means

There are several differences between the book and movie adaptation of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Some of these similarities are very
clearly portrayed in the story, and several of the differences made profound changes in my perception of the story line. These changes included plot

Overall, the story structure was very similar. For examples, Katniss is a hunter in both the story and the book version of the story. Katniss is from
District 12 in both versions. She also has to volunteer to save her sister, Prim, whom she clearly has a mother–daughter relationship with in both the
movie and the book. Occurring throughout the story in both the movie adaptation and the book, is the struggle within herself as she falls in love with

The girl, whose name is Rue and Katniss decide to team up and work together to destroy the food stash of the stronger tributes called Careers,

The book The Hunger Games, portrays a society where people are treated unfairly based on factors that they cannot control. The people are born
into one of 13 districts. There lives vary drastically based on where they are born. Someone born in the Capitol has a completely different life than
someone born in district 12. A person born in the Capitol lives a wealthy life and is always treated with respect. On the other hand someone born in
district 12 has a life of constant back breaking work. They live in poverty and struggle to survive.

Katniss and Peeta have to work even harder to overcome the bias against them and win the hearts of the sponsors and the crowd. Being as poor as
they are comes with some benefits and some disadvantages. They have been under fed most of their lives which means they are skinny and weak
compared to the other tributes. Living in district 12 also gives them the natural sense of survival. Katniss spends a lot of time hunting to survive
which is basically what the hunger games are. Peeta also uses skills from his trade, like his cake decorating, to give him an upper hand in the games.
Just like in their everyday lives Katniss and Peeta are spending every waking moment during the games fighting to survive. Because of the social class
system set up by the Capitol people are treated very unfairly based on where they were born.
The time that Suzanne Collins lived in when she was writing this book had a heavy effect on the plot of the book. It was from watching tv when the
concept of the hunger games came to her. She was surfing the channels and saw a reality tv show where people were competing to stay in the game
and a footage from the invasion of Iraq. The two concepts mixed in her mind and led her to the hunger games. She published the book in 2008
which was a time when reality shows, like Survivor, were very popular. If the reader approaches this book thinking of it as a reality tv show, a lot of
the same themes arise.

Book Summary: The Hunger Games
Now after being back from the Hunger Games, and finally starting to adjust to her new life as a Hunger Games victor. Katniss is now living the
high life. When her and Peeta are about ready to go and start their victory tour, the president of the Capitol visits Katniss in her District 12. President
Snow was angry because of the way they defied the Capitol with the poison berries. Snow told Katniss that she started a chain of rebellions in all the
other district's. He tells her that she must tell the people of Panem that she didn't act that way as an act of defiance, but that she did it because she was
way too in love with Peeta. During an interview after their Victory Tour Peeta proposed to Katniss in the hopes of convincing the country that they
are truly in love with each other so that Snow doesn't end up killing the people. They then found out that in the next Hunger Games, the tributes will
be selected from the existing pool of victors. Katniss and Peeta were going back into the arena. Once they were in the arena they joined forces with
Finnick, and Mags an 80 year old woman. Finnick had to carry Mags which gave them a disadvantage.Very...show more content...
Katniss had the plan to take down the arena. During the process where she was preparing to complete her mission she was attacked by one of her
allies who cut her arm with a knife, and then ran away. Katniss stumbled up to the force field and found one of her allies knocked out, she then shot
an electrified arrow at the force field, and then passed out from all the blood she lost. She then wakes up in a hovercraft that on it's way to District
13. Katniss later found out that her ally that cut her arm open did it to remove the tracking device. Peeta and the ally who removed her tracker were
both captured by the Capitol. Her friend Gale from her old district told her that he got her mother and sister out of the district before the Capitol bombed
