Hunger Game Essay
People would never see me as the winner of the hunger games I simply don't fit the mold .
Whenever the topic comes up people always label me to be the first one to die . But trust me
when the first cannon goes off it will not be mine . Infact my face will never be in the collection
of the dead . Even though most people don't think i'm capable of winning the games because of my
bubbly attitude i'm a good hunter I can easily find myself food in the wild . I know my way around
the wilderness I can tell which tree is good for climbing and what plants are good for eating . I'm also
a quick thinker when there's a problem I can find quick way out .

In a situation you have to be able to stay calm and think . If you freak out in a situation it's very
likely you will be killed or injured . I can calm down and observe when i'm faced with a difficult
task this is something my parents have taught me. It's like if you're drowning the more you struggle
the more water you're gonna swallow and faster you're going to sink but if you calm down and
swim up you can save yourself .
Some people may say that I wouldn't be able to handle the stress of the hunger games that i'm too
weak . Though yes the hunger games is very stressful and emotionally challenging I can stay calm
I have always looked on the bright side of things it helps me stay calm in stressful times and will
help me in the games . The games isn't all about how strong you are take Katniss for example she
was from one of the most undesirable districts and was one of the smaller opponents all the others
doubted her but she still ended on top .
So people of the capital even though I may seem a weak young girl I wouldn't be so quick to judge .
I can fight just as well as the bigger tributes .I will use my hunting skills to keep me fed . I can

Hunger Games, Film Essay
Mikyla Pene–Bavastro
The movie 'The Hunger Games' directed by Gary Ross is an extraordinary fictional tale. A tale set
in a futuristic dystopia society called 'Panem'. This nation is divided into 12 districts and a capitol.
Every year each district must offer two tributes a male and a female that must fight to the death until
there is one remaining tribute out of twenty–four, who later becomes a victor. An interesting
character in the film is Katniss Everdene, the films heroine. A District 12 citizen, katniss's will to
survive and furious attitude is shown from the moment we first see her on screen. Throughout the
games we see Katniss challenging the regime and having the will to survive. Even before Katniss
enters the games we see her...show more content...
Katniss show the audience how everybody has the natural instinct to survive when put in front of
difficult situations. Before Katniss enters the games she comes across as stubborn and making
friends is not her strong point. Katniss portrays a sympathetic and loving emotion during the games
once Hamish, her mentor gave her wise words, 'you have to make people like you'. Hamish being
a past tribute, who became a victor, knows how the games must be played to win. A mid shot on
Katniss's face when told this captures her emotions in a way the lets the audience know the
discomfort the news has brought her. Katniss preformed well during the games, and upheld a
persona leading up to the games. Together Katniss and Peeta, the male tribute from district 12
forged a fake love for the satisfaction of the government. In a critical moment in the film after
Peeta gets injured they use their 'love' to receive medication, A single kiss helped them get the
suplies they needed with a note attached reading "you call that a kiss". Katniss is willing to adapt
to lying in order to survive. As the audience, we are positioned to understand to understand her
point of view, Katniss does not enjoy killing, nor approve however in order to survive she is willing
to do what is nessercery, and as viewers we asked left asking what would we do in this situation?
Through Katniss's character, Gary Ross has

Culture In The Hunger Games
The novel and film series the Hunger Games has a huge cultural following. A significant influence
on the writer, Suzanne Collins, was both Greek and Roman civilizations. ("One story that most
influenced 'The Hunger Games,' it would be the Greek myth of Theseus...I decided that the nature of
The Hunger Games would be very much based on Roman gladiator games..."–Suzanne Collins) We
can relate almost every aspect of The Hunger Games to ancient Roman language, history or culture.
Firstly, the reader of the novels and viewer of the films can see the major impact Latin had on her
thought and the relation of the names of the characters with ones that come from Roman history.
Finally, we can relate these two cultures through their sociopolitical structure,...show more content...
In this film President Snow says "This is the uprising that rocked our land. 13 districts rebelled
against the country that fed them, loved them, protected them." This image shows the destruction of
district 13, the one empowering the rebellion. In the film next to the mushroom cloud, a blooming
flower had been added. This could be a symbolism of the outcome of the destruction of the
rebellion, which is the flourish of a new era. It is the beginning of the use of the games in order to

Hunger Game Theme Essay
The themes that found in the novel The Hunger Game such as survival, violation, power, inequality,
poverty, devotion and so forth are presented to demonstrate a critical time in the history throughout
clarifying the cultural significance in an unspecified future time. The novel's main point is the
struggle to adapt to normal daily life and how individuals are finding it difficult to adjust within their
environments at this time. The adventure novel follows sixteen years old Katniss Everdeen and Peeta
Malirak who lived in the twelve poor districts that ruled by the rich Capitol, which located in the
Rocky Mounted. Noticeably, the perspective of Collins anticipated that readers have to draw

Hunger Games Essay
When children are forced to grow up fast at a young age due to traumatic events, it shapes them
into fighters, when faced with life and death a person would do almost anything to assure survival.
This is greatly demonstrated in the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins when the main
character Katniss Everdeen's world is shifted upside down when her father dies and when she
volunteers as tribute for the Hunger Games. After her father's death the weight of the world was on
Katniss's shoulders, as she had to learn how to provide for, and keep her family alive. Her family
consisted of her mother, who suffered severe depression after the death of her husband, and her
younger sister Prim who meant the world to her. She inherited hunting...show more content...
Lastly, Katniss volunteered to take her sisters place in the hunger games when Prim's name was
pulled at the reaping. She could not stand the thought of her sister being thrown into such an
awful situation and she did the only thing she could to save her life. Fighting for others when
they were too weak to fight for themselves was another characteristic that Katniss demonstrated
throughout the novel. This was displayed in many cases. One way in which this was portrayed
was when Katniss immediately without giving a thought to the matter decided to enroll herself
in the hunger games in order to ensure Prim's safety as well as to save her the terror of the
despicable games. "With one sweep of my arm, I push her behind me. I volunteer! I gasped. I
volunteer as tribute!"(Collins 22). This showed how Katniss stood up for her sister and fought
for her when no one else would, she saved Prim's life and she risked it all for her. Katniss also
took care of and risked much for Peeta when he was injured. As soon as it was announced that two
people could win the hunger games if they were from the same district Katniss immediately made it
her priority to find Peeta. She wanted to do everything in her power to assure his survival. When
Katniss did find Peeta he was badly injured and she spent much time and effort in making him better.
At one point she even risked her own life to obtain medicine that would

The film The Hunger Games Essay
The film The Hunger Games, released in 2012 and based off the first book of a literary trilogy,
has become a source of entertainment and intrigue among many Americans. Featuring a futuristic
and dystopian United States, it has captured the imagination for some and kindled a intense
obsession for others. While on the surface this movie might seem to simply be a story with a
riveting plot line about young love, vicious combat, and survival, it is much more than that. As
most films do, if one takes a closer look, The Hunger Games gives rise to multiple sociological
patterns and themes. If one observes with an informed and critical eye, sociological issues that are
embedded in the film are revealed. From this, one can draw cultural and...show more content...
Although this could be seen as a result of the context in which these characters find themselves,
this proclamation by Katniss sheds light on the possibility that she thinks there could be more to
life than just having kids. However, this statement could also be enforcing social norms. Katniss,
who is presumably supposed to want kids as a woman in this story's society, might be stating that,
although she wants to have kids, cannot do so. This could be a result of the fact that she does not
feel that she could properly care for them, or that her world in which she lives is not fit to be the
home of her potential offspring. Another instance in which Katniss's character challenges gender
roles is when Katniss finds the wounded, suffering Peeta and saves his life. This goes against the
typical concept of a male being the stronger, more protective of the two sexes. When Peeta suggests
that Katniss needs to look out for herself, Katniss utterly dismisses the thought: "No, I'm not gonna
leave you. I'm not gonna do that." Instead of Peeta riding in on a horse in shining knight's armor, he
is portrayed to be weak and vulnerable, dependent on Katniss's cunning and skill to save him. Within
this situation, female gender roles are also enforced. Along with coming to Peeta's rescue, Katniss
