1. How Can Intentional Teaching
Be Applied in an Elementary
Classroom?
Bayley Carder
2. What intentional steps
do you take to make
sure your students are
getting the most out of
their learning?
Through research, it is apparent that
there are four key points to
intentional teaching;
1. Thoughtful lesson planning
2. Intentional questioning
3. Developing curiosity
4. Promoting intrinsic motivation
4. Allow your students
to form their own
questions over a new
topic.
This will spike their
curiosity.
Intentional Questioning
5. Giving students the
opportunity to choose
what works best for them,
gives them the sense of
autonomy, but also allows
them to nourish in their
own learning.
Student Choice
Everyone desires a choice.
6. Allowing students to
find their own curiosity
and make their own
choices, leads them to
learn through intrinsic
motivation.
Intrinsic Motivation
7. ● Does not add extra steps to your
schedule.
● Should become a habit throughout
your day.
● Gives your students ownership of their
learning.
