❖ PLC is an Industrial Computer that monitor inputs,
makes decision based on its program and
control outputs to automate a process or Machine.
❖ Basically PLC is used for Electro-
mechanical Processes.
4. The First PLC was invented in 1968 By Dick Morely.
Dick Morely is considered as the father of PLC. The
first PLC name was Modicon-084, for General
Motors.
In 70’s The communication Abilities Appears.
In 80’s standardization becomes on Communication
Protocols.
In 90’s standardizations Becomes on Programming
Languages.

Counters.
▪ Power supply work is to provide voltage needed to run
PLC components.
▪ Programming Device terminal is used to put the
program require to work PLC.
8. PLC can be described as small industrial computer with
modular components Designed to automate control
process.
The PLC takes input, perform logic on the input in the CPU
and the on/off as required.
PLC monitor the input and it take information from input
and then operate output.
9. So ladder programming language is used to run the
plc.
There are certain software available to program a
PLC such as Logic Pro
There are many symbol used in ladder programming
such as:
Normally Open, Normally Closed, Binary, Holding,
Interlocking, etc.
10. Microprocessors like the ones found in PLCs and
personal computers operate on the binary concept.
It refers to the principle that things can be thought of
in one of two states.
The states can be defined as:

In machining assembly etc.
