4. UNDERSTAND THE EXPECTATIONS
• Weekly Modules will be made available Monday of each week. All assignments
must be submitted to by the following Sunday at 11:59pm to receive credit.
• Late work will not be accepted unless you have communicated with me prior to the
deadline and I have agreed to offer an extension.
• Meet your deadlines. Extensions will only be offered in the case of illness or other
extreme circumstance.

5. UTILIZE BLACKBOARD
• All project descriptions and deadlines will be available in Blackboard. You
will begin with Module 01: Introduction. The following week, you will start
Module 02: Principle & Elements Overview, and so on.
• You should refer back to Blackboard often to ensure that you are meeting
all project requirements.

6. BE OPEN MINDED AND RESPECTFUL
• As Graphic Designers we develop solutions to
design problems and those solutions are not
always the same. Be open to new ideas and
think outside the box.
• Give feedback that is thoughtful and be open
to critique. This is how we grow.

7. DON’T PLAGIARIZE
• Graphic Designers build on each other’s work
but we don’t copy.
• Great designs come through research, ideation
and exploring the world around us.

14. A Graphic Designer is a professional practitioner who conceives and gives form to
ideas and content (images and text).
Essentially this means that we communicate ideas using visual imagery.
Graphic Design is EVERYWHERE. On packages, on signs, on websites, on billboards, on
our mobile devices, in our cars, in our homes. Everywhere you look, you can find some
form of desgn.

15. READING ASSIGNMENT
Please purchase the textbook. You will need this book for several of your classes in the
Advertising and Graphic Design program. The book can be found in our bookstore or
on Amazon.com.
This week you will need to read Chapter One, Introduction: The Graphic Design
Profession and then complete the quiz found in Module One.
