3. • Greenwich is a ‘Comprehensive’ borough
which means all schools teach children
from the full range of abilities.
4. • To ensure that all secondary schools take
children from all ability levels, children
take a Reading and Maths test in the
summer term ofY5.
5. • The test thatY5 take in
the summer term is the
first stage of the
children’s transfer to
secondary school.
6. From the results of the test, children are
put into a ‘BAND’.
This can be confusing to parents as it is a
very different system from the National
Curriculum Levels
It is also separate from the 11+ or Bexley
tests as it is NOT an entrance test
