2. From the Head Teacher - Ms. Sue Hill
Dear Parents,
Welcome back Year 5! The intrepid explorers, from Ms Kris’ and Mr Rob’s classes,
flew back from their 4 day adventure in Hoi An last night. From the looks on their
faces, I could see some were a little tired today however they all agreed that the trip
was a fantastic experience. When asked about their favourite activities, many
agreed that the challenge of the abseiling was number one. Others enjoyed the
organic farming and scavenger hunt or just the mere fact that they were away from
school with their friends! Hoi An is one of our many excursions this term, as we
concentrate on the pillar, Adventure, from our BISCAT booklets. Residential trips
play an important part in building confidence, perseverance and independence;
qualities all valued by our school. After Tet, the Year 3 children will have their sleepover in school and
Year 4 will enjoy their trip to Long Hai.
This morning, the children amazed us with their wonderful performances during our Tet assembly. The
smiles said it all as they sang and danced to various Tet tunes in front of an enthusiastic audience of
parents and children. The final performance was the Year 4 lion and dragon dances. The audience
gasped as the lion rolled over and also jumped! Thank you to all our teaching assistants who have worked
so hard during Vietnamese Culture lessons to prepare children for the performance. As a foreigner here in
Ho Chi Minh City, is it always an honour to take part in Vietnamese festivities and to learn more about the
culture and customs.
I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Tet holiday. For those who are travelling, I wish you safe and
enjoyable journeys and look forward to welcoming you all back on Wednesday 25th
February.

An amazing day of science,
investigation and discovery awaits
us after the Tet holidays. The
children and adults of TX will be
embarking on an adventure of
discovery during our annual
Science Day next half term. This
year each year group will be
focusing on a different aspect or
area of science. Some of us will be
getting all starry eyed learning about light, while others may learn some
shocking truths about electricity and its applications.
Over the Tet holiday period your children will be set an exciting project to
carry out at home and come back with on Science Day. Parents are asked
to help their children discover the wonders of science. Please ask them
questions about their task and help them out if needs be. Science is as
much about the journey as it is about the destination, so please take the
time to think about the task, not just get the answers.
This year’s Science Day will also give mums,
dads and carers the opportunity to do some
science themselves. You are all invited in to
come and see what your children have been
doing during the day. At 2 o’clock all the
classrooms will be open for you to come and
visit. Come and let your children show you
what they have been learning.
Science Day is on Thursday the 26th
of
February, see you at 2:00pm in your
child’s classroom.

EYFS Tet Collection
What a spectacular Tet show from our EYFS children this year! Thank you to all the parents and carers for being
such a wonderfully enthusiastic crowd. The children all had lots of fun performing in their beautiful Ao Dai to a vari-
ety of songs. We are proud of all our EYFS children for being so enthusiastic and brave and such wonderful sing-
ers and dancers!

On Tuesday, the Year 4 children went on an exciting photography trip to
District 1. As part of our IPC ‘Shelters’ topic we wanted the children to
consider how the build environment has changed over time. We wanted
to look at the skyline of the city from a tall building.
Shri Restaurant in the Centec Tower invited us to take photographs from
their rooftop. The manager Mr Ashley was very helpful when Mr Mike and
I were organising the trip and the staff were extremely welcoming and
helpful when we were at the restaurant.
Shri provided us with delicious snacks and drinks for free, as a welcoming
gesture. The children and staff would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Ashley and the staff at Shri, who made
our trip very enjoyable.
We had the opportunity to take some excellent photos of the buildings of Ho Chi Minh City and in the coming
weeks we will compare our photos, with photographs of the city through the ages.

U11 Boys Football
On the 11th
and 12th
February the U11 Boys Football team played against two international schools. The
team consisted of; Chi Nhan Phan, Pana Duong, Gia Vinh Le Nguyen, Tyler Nguyen, Anh Khoi Ngo Pham,
Bao Tran, Vi Tri Khuu, Anh Vu Dang.
On Wednesday 11th
February the boys’ squad played against AP1. From the onset of the game the TX
squad fought for every ball and made some superb interceptions. Gia Vinh had several runs down the line
and shots on goal but unfortunately they just wouldn’t go in the back of the net. Vi Tri and Pana made some
superb saves in goal and continually communicated with Chi Nhan and Anh Khoi in defence. The overall
score was 5-1 to AP1 at the end of the match.
There were two players of the match; Vi Tri for making some superb reactionary saves and Gia Vinh for
controlling the mid field and continually battling for the ball.
On Thursday 12th
February the squad played against EIS. The TX squad walked onto the pitch excited and
determined to win. From the onset of the match Anh Khoi chased down every ball and made some excellent
tackles which influenced the game. Gia Vinh opened out the midfield play, constantly working hard and
connecting the backs and forwards. His effort and determination was exceptional. Pana was influential within
the game; his communication and goal keeping skills aided the TX squad to work as a team. The overall
score was 6-3 to TX.
The player of the match goes to Pana for his superb saves in goal and communication with his teammates
on the pitch. Well done TX; your hard work in training is paying off!
