2. From the Head Teacher - Ms. Sue Hill
Dear Parents,
What a fantastic week of celebrations we’ve had at the TX campus! The children have
been busy learning about the important issue of how we can protect our world and about
endangered species in their chosen country. Researching such global issues is helping our
community to become global citizens, one of the important phrases from our BIS mission
statement.
The Bollywood dancing on Tuesday was great fun. We were lucky enough to have a
Bollywood dance teacher visit our campus to teach us some moves. Today, in our
International Parade, we enjoyed watching a lively display of Bollywood dancing from four of our Indian parents.
I must congratulate the parents who have been practising relentlessly in our Multi-purpose Room.
The success of our amazing International Fair on Wednesday was due to the incredible creativity and hard work
of our parents. In total, we had approximately 100 parents in school offering crafts and games such as a French
quiz; Korean fan painting; Japanese sumo wrestling; Malaysian hat making; Indian mehendi and pin the bindi on
the lady; decorating bags from the Phillipines; Vietnamese shoe throwing and clay pig smashing and resting for
Arabic tea in the Kuwaiti majlis. These are just some of the amazing activities open to our children as they
rotated throughout the day. Everything stopped for our International Buffet which was an incredible, delicious
feast from around the world. Thank you so much to all those involved!
Today, the International Parade marked the end of this year’s celebrations. The colourful flag parade of 23
nationalities was a chance to marvel at some of the lovely national costumes and enjoy the creativity of some of
the teachers from the UK: Miss Alice, dressed as a Welsh dragon, Mr Richard as The Grand Old Duke of York,
Miss Charlie who wore a favourite British dish…a boiled egg with soldiers…on her head and Miss Kirstine as St
George.
A special thank you to the team from the Philippines for providing the photobooth; all proceeds from the booth
will be donated to one of our TX charity partners. Also, many thanks to Anne Salapete who arranged for the
Eiffel Tower to be transported to our campus for the week. I would also like to mention our Korean drummer, Jun
Han Chong who gave a wonderful performance on the Korean drum.
On Monday, we would like to invite all parents who helped on Wednesday to come and join us for
celebratory coffee, tea and cake in the Multi-purpose Room at 8am.
Parents’ Evening for Year 1 to Year 6
You will have chance to discuss the report with your child’s class teacher during parent and teacher meetings on
27th
November. Sheets, on which you can sign up for a suitable slot, will be in displayed in the foyer from

EYFS Family Morning
Blogspot
The day of the International Flag Parade is special. As I stand by the gate in the morning, children arrive in
such a wonderful array of colours, materials and styles. The playground is a vision of internationalism at its
finest – the children looking so patriotic in their national costumes simply go and talk to their friends from
different countries and continents. We really are ‘global citizens working (and playing) together. It has been a
wonderful week! Thank you to everyone who has helped to make it so special. Thank you also to all those who
have bought tokens this week; the money will be going to local charities. Your child should have been given a
small photo from the Photobooth, I will be putting all the photos on my blog and you will be able to download
more copies early next week.
On my blog (ianbattersby.blogspot.com) this week there are
only two posts, but there are links to over 1000 photos from
Wednesday’s International Fair
and Friday’s Flag parade. I hope you enjoy them.
Mr. Ian
