Dear Parents,
This week, was a chance to show our children’s creative talents here at TX. On
Tuesday night the MP3 astonished us with their acting and singing. The production
of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ received rave reviews from our delighted
audience. The popular story, written by Roald Dhal in 1964, was brought to life by
superb acting from our main characters and seamless transition of props from our
backstage crew. The oompa loompas sang a mesmerising song to lure us further
into the land of the quirky Willy Wonka. Once there, the humourous lines, colourful
set and super costumes kept us all glued to the stage.
Thank you once again to the MP3 team and in particular Mr Robbie and Mr Richard who wrote and
adapted the music and script for the production. MP3 children were absolutely amazing; their dedication
to learning all those lines and perseverance to reach such high standards is creditworthy.
Other activities this week included our Green Day on Thursday. All children arrived at school wearing
green then proceeded to make their pledges on how they will make our planet healthier. Thank you Ms
Heather and the Eco Warriors for helping us all to think carefully about the effects our actions have on our
planet.
Today, we finished Term 2 on a high note, with TX’s Got Talent. The finalists performed confidently in
front of the audience of excited children and parents. There was a surprise at the end of the children’s
acts as the teachers, led by Ms Christine made their way to the stage for their own dance performance.
Well done to all the finalists, especially to Minh Anh and Victoria who used cups for percussion and sang
solo verses during their act to gain the first place position. Thank you to Ms Nicola and Ms Holly for
organising the event.
I wish you all a very happy holiday and look forward to welcoming you back safely to TX on Monday 4th
May.
Security
From Monday May 4th
, all parents and visitors to the TX campus will need to show their security cards. If
you forget your card then you will be asked to exchange a personal ID card e.g. a driving licence for a Vis-
itor Pass at the gate.
From the Head Teacher– Ms Sue Hill
3. MP3 Production
On Tuesday evening, the children in Milepost 3 entertained and
enthralled audience with an outstanding performance of
‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. From the moment the
opening line was said to the final song the show was top quality
and it was wonderful to see.
The Roald Dahl classic story is about a little boy who finds one
of five golden tickets in a Wonka chocolate bar and wins a
lifetime supply of chocolate and a trip to Willy Wonka’s magical
chocolate factory.
Our MP3 cast brought so much energy and confidence to this
performance that it was a pleasure to watch. The actors truly
transported the audience into the colourful candy-land of an
eccentric inventor. There was so much to enjoy including
dancing birds, oompa loompas, dramatic moments where
characters fell into chocolate rivers and egg-weighing
machines, and some truly superb acting!
The chocolate factory was brought to life with wonderful singing
and dancing, plus the help of an invaluable backstage
crew. With convincing props and gadgets, and a multi-coloured
painted set design, it was a feast for the senses to behold!
Learning lines, lyrics, choreography and cues for scene
changes all demand a lot of commitment and we were proud of
the many children who went the extra mile to make this show a
success.

TX Green Day: 16 April 2015
Dressing in green, making videos of their promises to care for the planet, and getting really, really,
REALLY hot during ‘Switch-off Hour’ were some of the ways that the children enjoyed thinking about the
environment on ‘Green Day’.
Theresa, 5T, Eco-Warrior
Green Day was so exciting!
All of the TX students and teachers wore green clothes to school.
The Eco-Warriors organised for the whole school to participate Switch-off Hour, when we had to switch off
electrical things for 1 hour. This was great, because the interactive boards and the computers were all
switched off, but so were the air conditioners.
We were all so hot and sweaty!
When my group went down to Ms Nicola to learn, we made paper fans to keep us cool for a while!
Participating in Green Day this year was so much fun! Remember: Stay GREEN!
Winners of Healthy Plant Competition
On Monday, our super judges Ms. My (Head of Cleaner), Mr. Sang
(Deputy Head of Guard) and Mr. Dat (Head of Canteen) went around the
school and visited all of the classrooms to see which class had best cared
for their plant. The winners were: F3, 1T, 4T, and 5T. The certificate for the
best plant in the school was given to 3X !
Well done to every class who still has a happy and healthy plant.

TX Waste Week: 13-17 April 2015
Tracy, 5T, Eco-Warrior
During waste week, we participated in many activities, such as writing pledges, creating our own waste
week poster, bringing water bottles, and earning badges or stickers by not wasting food. There was one
day in that week that we had to wear green; that was Green Day.
First thing in the morning on Green Day, Mr. Mike took a photo of the whole school looking great and
waving, wearing their green shirt/dress.
Next, Mr.Ian announced the winners of the
healthiest plants. There were certificates for
each milepost, but in the whole school, the
healthiest plant belong to…(drum roll
please) 3X!
At 10:00, across the school, all the lights,
computers, air conditioners, and anything
else run on, or even charged by, electricity
were switched off. That’s because we joined
in Switch-off Hour until 11:00.
The good news was that canteen staff told us that we didn’t waste as much food
as on other days.
REMEMBER TO STAY GREEN WHEREVER YOU ARE, and:
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle too.
The Eco-teams are watching YOU!

TX Waste Week: 13-17 April 2015
In an effort to make everyone realise just how much waste we make, the
Eco-Teams joined The Pod’s Waste Week campaign.
In the run up to this week, the Eco-Warriors encouraged children to think about
how much they threw away, and shared interesting facts about waste. Did you
know, for example, that each and every one of us throws away about 70kg of
food every year?!
The Eco Warriors took photos of the food waste every day a few weeks before
the campaign started, and took photos during Waste Week. It was quite difficult
to tell the difference between the amount of waste, but Mr. Dat and Mr. Ba from
the canteen confirmed that this week there was less food waste than in previous
weeks. This is good news.
You may have noticed that there were no plastic cups available at the water dispensers this week. More
children than ever before have been walking round with water bottles and started to realise that they don’t
really need plastic cups. Watch out next term then, since it seems like ‘no plastic cups’ is a good idea to
reduce waste permanently!
Vivian, 5T, Eco-Warrior
During waste week I tried to eat all food on my plate and not throw any food away. I
thought ‘If everybody throws one piece of food away there will be lots and lots of waste
food and that is not good !!!!!’, so I tried to make sure that people didn’t throw food
away.
During Waste Week I looked in the waste-food bin and saw that there wasn’t as much
waste as there had been last week. I hope that everyone will try to keep this going - not wasting food to
make the earth greener!
Gymnastics Competition
The BIS HCMC Gymnastics Competition took place on Wednesday 15th April at the AP2 campus. The TX

Jeong, Amiri Nemoto, Mi Nguyen, Jenny Yoo, Kelly Tran, Yu Gyeong Kang, Soo A Kim. The students
performed both a set routine and a vault. All the girls enjoyed the competition. They worked hard and
there efforts paid off. Well done to the TX squad.

U11 Mixed Netball
On Thursday 16th April the mixed netball team played against RISS. The team consisted of Hannah Bui, Tyler
Nguyen, Anh Vu Dang, Gia Vinh Le Nguyen, Jeanette Vo, Jamie Donnelly, Susu Le, Pana Duong, Rishi Ahuja and Kelly
Tran.
During the first half of the game the TX squad dominated with Gia Vinh and Jeanette supporting the centre court
play. Both Susu and Pana made a superb attacking plays in the circle resulting in the majority of the goals being
scored. In the second half of the match RISS came out fighting intercepting a lot of our passes. Tyler and Jamie
fought for every ball regaining possession enabling the ball to be passed down the court. The final score was 5-1 to
TX. Well done to all the players; your hard work is paying off.
The player of the match goes to Susu for her supporting movement in the circle.
