2. From the Head Teacher - Ms. Sue Hill
Dear Parents,
Our focus on Internationalism and global citizens continues until the festive holidays. With
this in mind, I would like to draw your attention to two events that are advertised in our
newsletter this week, both of which are aimed at parents. The first event is a coffee
morning, led by our Japanese parents. Following the success of our Indian celebrations for
Diwali, the forthcoming event will involve learning how to make the delicious sushi we
tasted as part of the international buffet. The Japanese mums are busy preparing and are
keen to welcome parents next Thursday 4th
December at 8 am.
The second event, a wine and cheese evening, has been organised by our French parents. The event should
appeal to many parents as advice on how to match wines with both cheese and Vietnamese food will be
provided. The evening will be held on Thursday 4th
December at The Warehouse.
Finally, I hope to see many parents tomorrow morning during our first EYFS Fun Day, held at the TX campus. A
bouncy castle, balloons, face painting and a variety of games will be available for children in our Foundation
Stage so lots of fun to be had.
Parent and Teacher Meetings
Teachers were happy to meet with many parents yesterday in individual parent and teacher conferences. If you
were unable to meet yesterday to discuss your child’s progress, then please contact your child’s class teacher to
make an appointment.
TX Parents Hosted Coffee Morning - Making Sushi roll
Thursday 4th December
Time: 8.00 -9.00 am
Venue: TX Multipurpose Room
Our Japanese mothers are planning to have a demonstration of
"Makizushi" (Sushi roll) making, and you can roll up one yourself. After
that, "Makizushi", Japanese sweets, drinks will be served. (vegetarian
fillings will be available).
We are looking forward to seeing you, and sharing our culture.
Just bring yourself !

Well done to Michael, Suri and Kiet (Year 1), and Minh, Yui and Quynh Anh (Year 2).
4. Community Club
The Community Friends Club has been running for the last
two terms here at TX. Children from the Tu Xuong Centre
join us every Thursday afternoon for a play session in the
Soft Play Room with some of the children from Year 2 and
3. All the children enjoy using the fun environment of the
soft play area, climbing and playing together- a particular
favourite is the parachute! For our children it is a chance
to meet and play with children they might not normally
come into contact with. Well done to all the children who
have taken part this term!

Eco – Warriors
Green Certificate, November 2014
This month, the Eco-Scouts toured the school to see just
who was following the Eco-Code, and 5T were doing a
great job switching everything off.
Well done 5T.
November was also Energy Month, and children have been
telling me how their homes have changed as parents,
grandparents and children have all been taking more
responsibility to turn things off. Keep it up as we head into
December, and know that you are doing your bit to save
the world (and save money!!).
Ms. Heather
Blogspot
Effective communication between home and school is so important. Each week the newsletter is available via
e-mail, through the school website and on the noticeboard in the foyer. Furthermore, over the last two years
we have developed the use of blogs as a means of whole school and class communication. The advantage of
blogs is the ease with which photos and videos can be shared as well as important information. As this week
has progressed, I have received three additional sets of photos from Adam Astley, Anne Salapete and the
organisers of the photo-booth. Please follow the links on the blog to download photos of your child. Also can I
urge you, if you have not used the ‘Follow by Email’ tool to receive updates from my blog and your child’s
class blog, to please do so.
On my blog (ianbattersby.blogspot.com) this week
you will find the following posts:

6. On Wednesday 26th
November the U11 Girls Basketball team took part in the ‘A Pool’ Basketball tournament
at AP2. They competed against five other international schools from around HCMC. The team consisted of
seven students. These were; Jeanette Vo (6T), Hannah Bui (6T), Yu Gyeong Kang (6X), Jamie Donnelly (6T),
Minh Nguyen (6T), Susu Le (5T) and Kelly Tran (5T).
The first game that the team played was against TT AIS. The TX squad initially found it difficult to organise
their defence in this game but then they were able to make some superb steals. Jeanette aided and scored
several points. It was an extremely close game that culminated in TT AIS beating TX by one point.
In the second game against SSIS and third against ISHCMC TX dominated from the onset. Jamie was able to
intercept several passes that were made by the opposition into the key. Both Susu and Yu Gyeong supported
Jamie and ran back to mark the other players. In both games, Hannah, Minh, Kelly and Jeanette passed the
ball quickly and scored several baskets. The squad’s teamwork at this point was superb! The score from the
SSIS game was 14-2 to TX and the third game was 12-8 to TX.
In the fourth game we played AP1. This was a challenging match that the squad fatigued quickly in culminating
in an AP1 win. However, due to the points scored TX went into the 1st
and 2nd
play offs.
TX went up against AP1 again. This time however, TX stepped onto the court a completely different team.
They fought for every ball demonstrating both determination and perseverance. However, in the end AP1’s
attack managed to break through TX’s defence. It resulted in AP1 winning the game.
The TX team took home the second place trophy. Players of the tournament go to Kelly and Hannah. Kelly
demonstrated superb attacking play and movement on court. Hannah was solid in both attack and defence
always supporting her team mates.
The students were really happy with their achievement and performance in the tournament. The girls showed
both hard work and dedication to their training and their games leading up to the tournament which resulted in
second place. Well done TX, you should be proud!
