• Standard narrative: Arabs have two broad
categories:
– 1. Extinct/Ancient Arabs/ Arab Al-Bayidah the
earliest civilization in Arabia. They don’t exist
anymore and most likely all died out.
– 2. Remaining Arabs/Arab-Al Bakyiah two
categories:
• A) Arab-Al-Ariba the pure Arabs
• B) Arab Al-Mustaribah people who became Arabs
4. • Arab Al-Ariba Qahtani Arabs found in
Southern parts of Arabia
• Qahtan was one of the descendants of Sam
• We get the term Semites from Sam
• From Nuh(a), the three sons started all the races,
according to the Bible and Islamically:
– Sam was the father of Arabs
– Yafis is the father of the Romans
– Ham is the father of the Africans
5. • Both Ibrahim(a) and Qahtan are Sam, Semites
• Qahtani Arabs and the Adnani Arabs are the
two big categories of Arabs
• The Adnani Arabs are decendents of Ismail
who were Arabicized
• Arabic came from the Qahtani Arabs
• Ibrahim (a) most likely spoke a language closer
to Hebrew than Arabic
• Adnan is a direct ancestor of the Prophet(sws)
• The Prophet is the 20th grandson of Adnan

themselves and people were considered to be
well-educated
• Arabs would pride themselves over the
knowledege of lineage

• The son of Adnan lived in the same time as
Isa(a) so Adnan lived one generation before
Isa(a)
• 570 years between Isa(a) and the Prophet
Muhammed(sws)
• Adnan lived around 30 BC
• Qahtan predates Adnan
10. • The lineage of the Prophet(sws) is divided into
three categories:
– 1. Between Adnan and him is 20 generations(sure)
– 2. From Adnan to Ismail (the Bible does not care
about Ismail’s lineage, so does not mention it) So the
information is gotten from Arabic folklore. We don’t
know how many generations between the two.
– 3. From Ismail to Adam(a). The Torah, the Old
Testament has the only source of information about
this. We can’t rely on this.
