Question 1: Choose two COMPLEX LEGO products from Google images (e.g., large
buildings, robots, machines, bridges, instruments etc). Search as "LEGO images".
1.Would you be able to build these two products using LEGO blocks? What could be
some of the possible problems that you might face when building these units using
LEGO blocks? (Study the images well and try to imagine possible issues with design)
(150 words)
I think that I would not be able to build perfect these two products using LEGO blocks
very well. But I can build a similar things. (maybe)
· Lunch box (Shinkansen)
I read a creator's comment. "The head of the bullet train used the head of the
helicopter". It is an unexpected idea to me. The head is existing thing, but the body
seems to be made by the creator. I am surprised that the body of the bullet train (ex:
window) was successfully made. It is lovely to express red snake as ketchup !
・christmas leaf
Christmas leaf is using 4 Protrusion and 6 Protrusion types of LEGO for base. It is
gorgeous because it mixes not only green but also red. Ribbon uses the same shape
LEGO. 1 Protrusion type of LEGO is red tee nut. The yellow part of the lamp is a
human face (no facial expressions are drawn)
Both cute design. There are many ingenuity and I can not copy it.
2.The lecture notes mentioned that the design process follows a guideline involving
three main sections (150 words):
For each of the above three stages in the design process, write a 50-word paragraph,
explaining how you would approach the design of the two chosen products using the
LEGO blocks. (Follow the lecture notes for the different sub-steps under analysis,
concept and synthesis).
<Lunch box>
First of all I will decide a side dish(Type, quantity) (Analysis). Therefore, you need to
consider the contents of the main lunch (Concept). When making side dishes, we
decide which parts are most actually used. Helicopter on Shinkansen, Serpent in
Ketchup ...(etc) Find the best from many choices (Synthesis).
<Christmas leaf>
Create a base part. Look for the most efficient way to make thickness and circle
(Analysis). It is necessary to choose the parts so that it looks like leaf (and ribbon)
(Concept). Be careful with the balance of ribbons, bells and lamps. Devised a fine part
(nuts) and show it like a leaf (Synthesis).
3.Search for Google images to identify a LEGO product that could be extremely
difficult to assemble. Please post the image of the LEGO product. Write down 5
reasons why the assembly could prove to be difficult? Then, write down 3 strategies
that you will use in the assembly process to overcome the difficulty. (150 words)
1: There are 1st floor, 2nd floor and 3rd floor and can be piled up.
2: The inside of the hall is made.
3: Cannons and screws are made.
4: Helicopter can take off and land.
5: Making is fine. (All colors and equipment are reproduced)(The LEGO product is big)
Make the base of the battleship first, be careful of color and balance. (The size that
you can also make a ship). Complete the floor one by one. Be careful not to mistake
the shape of the overlapping parts. Be careful of the height of the ceiling inside the
ship (the height that people of LEGO will enter). After exterior finish, attach detailed
parts (Add small parts to prevent deterioration of balance). Make it while comparing it
with a real photo (Although I have said it many times, I will care about
balance)(Analysis).
Question 2: Download the 3D scanning app in your mobile device (Andriod or
iPhone) and let me know your experience using the apps for 3D scanning. 3D scan at
least three different types of objects. Let me know what are the difficulties you faced
with the interface. (200 words or more). PLEASE POST THE IMAGES YOU SCANNED.
POST IMAGES OF HOW YOU HAVE USED THE 3D SCANNING APP.
I scanned three types of "macbook""shoes" "pitcher" using the 3D scanning
application.
<macbook>
The liquid crystal was reflected by lighting. I focused on keyboard and liquid crystal. I
took it neatly because I took it evenly. I could not express the thickness using the
application (Trnio). I knew that I took a MacBook, it means that it is difficult to shoot
the black part. The same is true for other subjects.
<shoes>
I was able to shoot beautifully in every direction (Preview). But, only a part of the
black box was distorted. Like the MacBook, black reaction is bad. What I thought
when I wear shoes is that this application can express textures. I was impressed that
light and shadows reflected well.
<pitcher>
First of all, I failed to take a pitcher. It seems that the part of tea did not respond
well. (cause: There were many shots from the angle from above?) The size of the
subject was a little big, so I could not take pictures from any angle. The number of
photographs that can be taken in one shot is 60. In order to suppress it to 60 images,
it seems better to stop shooting from all angles or reduce the subject.
Question 3: I would like you to design two separate posters: one for Q1 and another
for Q2.
Question 4: Now, design a 8 slide presentation in PowerPoint / Keynote explaining
the following:
https://docs.google.com/a/jc.u-
