Collaboration and Family Involvement In The Classroom
The education of a child involves three major components: teacher,
student, and parent. Effective communication between these
components is essential to a successful classroom. To ensure this as a
teacher I will do the following:
• Foster an online presence. I will do this by posting homework, comments,
discussions, and maintaining email between myself and students/parents.
• Plan events and meetings well in advance. To the best of my ability, I will
ensure that students and parents are well-informed and prepared for
meetings and school events in advance.
• Focus on the best interest of the student. Above all else, I believe that this
is the most important consideration in developing a plan for student success.

In some cases this will also help us determine a positive course of action
for those students who are struggling.
• Develop an effective parent-teacher partnership. There are several ways to
foster this growth. Most importantly, taking the time to meet with each
other and listening carefully to the other’s concerns will help establish trust
between the two.
• Encourage and maintain regular interaction between the school and families.
This includes encouraging parents to be involved in school activities. This
also includes regularly holding parent-teacher conferences.
• Help foster a sense of community and caring relationships in my classroom
between teacher, student, and parent. This will create an environment where
everyone feels safe and welcome.
• Prevent conflicts, resolve them quickly, and allow students to develop to
their fullest potential and succeed.
• Share information with students about their strengths, needs, and goals.
Allow students to present their ideas and perspectives and learn to
advocate for their needs.
• Express appreciation for parents’ participation in their child’s education.
