Certificate III in Instrumentation
and Control
Scope: This qualification provides competencies to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain systems
and devices for measurement and recording of physical/chemical phenomenon and related process control.
Entry Requirements / Eligibility: To gain entry into UEE31220 Certificate III in Instrumentation and Control
candidates are required to be the holder of an Unrestricted Electrical Licence. Candidates must be reasonably fit as
practical work involves considerable amount of physical activity. A wheelchair user or someone with significant
physical disabilities simply may not be able to fulfill the requirement of the course. Students must attach Unrestricted
Electrical Licence during enrolment so the admin staff can verify before admission to the course.
Students with relevant experience are eligible for RPL for the units marked “TBD”. The course duration will vary with
experience and successful result of RPL.
Electricians will attain credit transfer on the below core units with an * as result of holding the Unrestricted Electrical
Licence. Students who have completed UEE40420 Certificate IV in Electrical – Instrumentation or equivalent will
attain credit transfer on the below core units with a # which are also a prerequisite to enrol into the course. For
student who are not Electricians you will need to be an apprentice to an Electrician/Electrical Company who has
exposure to Instrumentation work. Consequently, all the below units will have to be completed in full and the fees for
each unit will apply in full. The duration will go up to 3 years

Credit Transfer
Ausinet, as a Registered
Training Organisation
(RTO), recognises the
Australian Qualifications
Framework qualifications
and Statements of
Attainment issued by any
other Australian RTO. You
are encouraged to submit
requests for credit from
previous studies when
enrolling to ensure that you
are not enrolling in units
you may not need to
undertake. If you have
completed units at other
RTO and you think they
may count towards the
award requirements of the
course you are enrolled in
at Ausinet, submit an
official copy of your results
for the units you have
undertaken. Credit transfer
may fast-track your course.
RPL
Recognition of prior
learning, also referred to as
RPL, is the formal
acknowledgement of a
person's current skills and
knowledge experience
gained throughout life –
regardless of how they have
been acquired.
This is an important
assessment pathway,
particularly for people who
are considering doing
study. The recognition
gained may considerably
reduce the study time
needed to get a
qualification.
The RPL assessment may
include workplace
observation, interviews and
professional conversations,
work samples and
documented
evidence.Please contact the
office for an RPL kit.
Completion
requirements
The requirements for
granting this qualification
will be met when
competency is
demonstrated and achieved
for:
All the Core competency
standard units, defined in
the Core Competency
Standard Units table above
and a combination of
Elective competency
standard units to achieve a
total weighting of 140
points in accordance with
the Elective Competency
Standard Units table above
