Aim
This training course will provide participants with the competencies to safely
lay, joint and terminate underground cables, install and maintain underground
electricity network apparatus and low voltage underground services.
Recommended For
Network operator, electricity supply contractor and electrical contractor
employees seeking an apprenticeship outcome as a Distribution Cable Jointer.
Prerequisites
Candidates need to meet network operator recruitment and/or electricity
supply industry recruitment requirements.

The fee is dependent on the number of participants and the
units of competence chosen as electives.
Employer funding is available for the qualification through an
Australian Apprenticeships Centre (AAC).
Payment:
Clients will be invoiced on completion of each stage of the
training. Payment is required within 14 days of the completion
of the training unless other arrangements have been agreed
to with Energy Skills Solutions.
Dress:
Minimum personal protective clothing and equipment for the
course will be advised for each stage of the training.

3. Delivery
Units of competence are grouped for delivery in 2-4 week training stages. The
units are grouped to ensure:
 Learning occurs in a logical sequence
 Alignment with the prescribed prerequisite pathway
 Opportunities are available in the workplace to support the training
ar Training delivery methods include face-to-face, self-paced learning guides and
online learning.
Learning activities are included in the training to ensure knowledge and skills
can be safely applied to workplace situations.
The importance of safety is emphasised throughout the training.
Assessment
A number of assessments are included in the training. These include off the
job knowledge and task assessments, on-the-job task assessments and a
final capstone assessment.
Apprentices are issued with an On-the-Job Training Workbook for the purpose
of collecting and presenting evidence for assessment for each unit of
competence. The workbook also includes a Work Experience Record Sheet
for recording the workplace tasks completed and the plant, equipment and
tools used for the task.
