1. Introduction
Hello dear listeners
I am Muneer Ahmad a teacher of Govt. Hr. Secondary School Gingal of Educational
Zone & Block Chandanwari, district Baramulla of Union territory of Jammu &
Kashmir.
Here I am sharing my innovative ideas regarding VAM Project and the title of my
project is:
Title: Learning of Modern Periodic Table through Role play
2. Challenge
Despite teaching with full enthusiasm and with full
energy the challenge for me was that, I was not able to
attain my learning outcomes as my whole class which is
comprising of two sections was not able to achieve the
learning goals.
3. An important topic of our syllabus from Chemistry section which I was
supposed to teach was “Modern Periodic Table”. Initially I made all my
possible efforts to make my learners to grasp things as it is available in books
but my students were not getting things as required, so my main objectives
still remain very far for being achieved.
4. I analyzed my teaching methodology and
realized that I was not involving any activity or
using pedagogical strategies to attract my
students' attention towards the concept. I also
realized that the way I was using the TLMs led to
a lot of mismanagement leading to confusion
among the students, as a result the desired
learning outcomes could not be attain in a
stipulated time frame.
5. My VAM Project Objective
To ensure that students achieve the desired learning outcome of
connecting the text and visualize the things in real sense by trying a
new pedagogy while reading on their textbook.
I decided to work on the learning outcome where students "connect
the text and visualize the same by trying a new pedagogy.
Students should be able to memories and understand the topic
easily by activity method and also through learning by doing
method.
6. This is what I did.
I took both sections of class 10th students in the open ground and arranged their positions as
per the positions of elements in the modern periodic table.
I named each and every student as per the name of the elements in Modern Periodic Table.
I also named their groups as per the names of groups and periods of Modern Periodic Table.
Being Science teacher a lot of previous years science practical note books were lying in our
school science laboratory, so I decided to torn the first page of used practical note books on
which always modern periodic table’s chart is made and I provided the said charts to my
whole class for understanding and learning the topic in better way.
I also made the WhatsApp groups and shared videos and other study material through it.
It was also observed that all of my students do not have accesse to digital devices.
I prepared a list of students with and without digital devic es. I made groups of students
based on the availability of digital devices and the area they lived in to ensure peer learning
by sharing the device.
7. Next day I asked my students some comprehensions
questions from the videos and material already sent to
check their understandings. I noticed that 10% of the
students were still not able to respond well. So I advised
students to prepared modern periodic table’s chart and after
this I observed that the remaining 10% of the students were
also able to achieve the learning outcomes.
8. Impact of my project
I adopted the same pedagogy at regular basis at
the end of each class and assigned the same task
to students to prepare the painting of each
topic. This boosted the interest of art among
the students while they enjoyed it and were
able to understand each concept fully in a
holistic way.
9. Conclusion
