Student´s computer (as half of the group will attend to the lesson online)
Procedures
For the English lessons, students receive and send activities through a Whatsapp group. I will
send them the link for the videocall meeting through a private Whatsapp group the institution
share with the students as well as with their parents. Moreover, the lesson plan will be
uploaded to a webpage called “Educabot” which the institution chose as a campus for their
students.
(5 minutes)
Purpose: To get students be ready to start the lesson.
I will greet students and ask them how they are today. While the teacher listens to students´
comments, she will ask each of them to take a seat. As the teacher listens to them, she will
prepare her computer to connect online with the other half of students.
(10 – 15 minutes)
Purpose: To encourage students to revise their previous knowledge and build a bridge
between the previous and new knowledge.
Students have already learned some vocabulary as well as grammar structures related to
future. In this sense, I will help them to refresh their memory regarding the vocabulary
they´ve achieved through an interactive game: Future - Recurso didáctico (wordwall.net)
The activity will consist of dividing students into two groups (one group will be composed
by students that are in face-to-face lessons while the other group will be composed by the
students that are attending lessons online). The group with more points will be the winner of
the game.
My role in this stage of the lesson will be as observer, and I will interfere only if they need a
hand as well as to keep a safe, respectful atmosphere while the activity is developed.
Scaffolding strategy: Relate the revision of vocabulary to the student´s interest, in this case
through an interactive game in which they have to cooperate and debate with their peers.
Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next one: Well done! Now…
Do you remember the rules we learned to talk about future plans? Well, it´s time to put them
in practice with this listening… Are you ready?
First stage of the lesson: (30 minutes)
I will ask students to bring these exercises done as homework to practise their orality
throughout the lesson. The activities are from the book they daily use: Speak Out
Intermediate Student´s Book.
I will check their understanding of the future structures and I will take an observer role
throughout the lesson, helping students in their learning process.
Here is a copy of the activities we will develop:
Scaffolding strategies: Visual support through a Google Document, I will provide some
examples as a method to awake student´s attention and check their understanding regarding
the activity itself.
Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next one: Great work everybody!
Now, tell me… Are you likely to make plans / arrangements often? Do you think your
partners do the same? Well, let´s work in groups to find it out…
Second stage of the lesson: (30 minutes)
In this stage, I will ask students to work in groups to develop the activities presented.
First, they will be asked to tell individually one plan / arrangement they have had (following
the reflection questions mentioned in the exercise).
Secondly, I will ask students to look at each of the messages mentioned in the “Writing”
section and reflect on the questions that follows:
1. What do you think the relationship between the writer and the person they´re writing
to is?
2. Are the messages formal or informal? Think of the different features between formal
and informal writing, how do you identify them? Find examples in the messages
given.
Thirdly, I will ask students to read each of the messages given and complete the missing
words (the words are given in a chant above). Then, I will ask them to rewrite each message
using fewer words.
Scaffolding strategies: Open-ended questioning in order to encourage students to reflect on
what they are learning and acquire the new knowledge in a meaningful way, directing
students to the important aspects of the task.
Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next one: Great work
everybody! Now, it´s time for a last activity in which you have to use all that you´ve learned
so far… This is our last step of the lesson.
10 minutes)
I will ask students to choose a partner and write messages to each other to arrange to do
things at the weekend / in the evening. This will be developed as a final task, in which they
have to use everything that they´ve learned so far from the unit called “future” and become
active and independent learners of their own learning process.
I will have a guider role during this task, paying attention to students´ needs and checking
common mistakes.
As homework, I will ask them to propose common situations for them in which messages
can be delivered and write a response to any situation presented. This activity will be
developed through a Padlet, which I will create myself them how to post their messages by
sending to the Whatsapp group a video with the instructions.
Video instructions: How to Use Padlet for Students: The Basics - YouTube
Scaffolding strategies: Open-ended questioning in order to encourage students to reflect on
what they are learning and acquire the new knowledge in a meaningful way, directing
students to the important aspects of the task. Visual aids to guide students to use a new
multimedia tool for them.
Transition comment to link each stage of the lessonwith the next one: Wow! You work
very hard today… great job! We come to the end of this lesson! Remember homework! See
you next class!

  • 5. Scaffolding strategies: Visual support through a Google Document, I will provide some examples as a method to awake student´s attention and check their understanding regarding the activity itself. Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next one: Great work everybody! Now, tell me… Are you likely to make plans / arrangements often? Do you think your partners do the same? Well, let´s work in groups to find it out… Second stage of the lesson: (30 minutes) In this stage, I will ask students to work in groups to develop the activities presented. First, they will be asked to tell individually one plan / arrangement they have had (following the reflection questions mentioned in the exercise). Secondly, I will ask students to look at each of the messages mentioned in the “Writing” section and reflect on the questions that follows: 1. What do you think the relationship between the writer and the person they´re writing to is? 2. Are the messages formal or informal? Think of the different features between formal and informal writing, how do you identify them? Find examples in the messages given. Thirdly, I will ask students to read each of the messages given and complete the missing words (the words are given in a chant above). Then, I will ask them to rewrite each message using fewer words. Scaffolding strategies: Open-ended questioning in order to encourage students to reflect on what they are learning and acquire the new knowledge in a meaningful way, directing students to the important aspects of the task.
  • 6. Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next one: Great work everybody! Now, it´s time for a last activity in which you have to use all that you´ve learned so far… This is our last step of the lesson. 10 minutes) I will ask students to choose a partner and write messages to each other to arrange to do things at the weekend / in the evening. This will be developed as a final task, in which they have to use everything that they´ve learned so far from the unit called “future” and become active and independent learners of their own learning process.
  • 7. I will have a guider role during this task, paying attention to students´ needs and checking common mistakes. As homework, I will ask them to propose common situations for them in which messages can be delivered and write a response to any situation presented. This activity will be developed through a Padlet, which I will create myself them how to post their messages by sending to the Whatsapp group a video with the instructions. Video instructions: How to Use Padlet for Students: The Basics - YouTube Scaffolding strategies: Open-ended questioning in order to encourage students to reflect on what they are learning and acquire the new knowledge in a meaningful way, directing students to the important aspects of the task.
