 respond to the environmental issues positively.
 speak and express their views in group discussion.
 construct both oral as well as written discourses.
 enhance vocabulary by guessing the meaning from the context.
PRE REQUISITE
The learner,
 might have learned poems or stories having similar themes.

introduced.
Tr: Let’s play a small game.
Teacher presents certain images on ppt slides.
Students are required to listen to each image and
express their thoughts regarding the image. The most
engaging group will be rewarded.
LINK TALK
Tr: Is the game interesting.
So, there is a common theme in it, isn’t it
What might be the theme? Any Guesses!!!!
Students might answer it as science and technology
Tr: Do you know the importance of Science in our
daily life? In each and every thing we come across,
there is an intervention of advanced science and
technology.
Then the teacher introduces a quote and explains it to
the students.

DISCUSSION
The teacher shows an image on a flashcard and asks
some thought provocative questions to elicit
response. Each group is required to write their
responses. Students (in groups) are provided with
activity cards to write their points (ideas) on it.
Tr:
1. Can you identify the instrument which is
used to watch the sky?
2. What are the children in the picture doing?
3. How can you connect the quote with the
picture?
Students in group might provide the expected
answers. Or else teacher acts as a facilitator and add
on to the response of the students.
Tr: What improvement in technology and science is
likely to happen in the next decade?
Teacher may lead the learners to predict the future of
science in the next decade.
Teacher may ask the learners to come out with their
own predictions first and then the teacher provides
them the following predictions given below:
EXPECTED ANSWERS
1. Telescope
2. They are watching the night sky
through telescope
3. The picture shows the children
watching the night sky. Children
decide the future of a nation, and the
future development of the world is
through science alone.
The discussion may be consolidated in the following
way:
 Science holds the key to our future. It is the
most powerful tool that we have.
 Our society is what it is today due to
scientific advancement.
 Science continues to make our life easier,
healthier and better in every way.
 In future, with the help of science man will
achieve wonders that are perhaps
unimaginable now.
