MOUTHWASH
• What Is Mouthwash ?
Mouthwash Is a Clear Solution Intended For External use to
Deodourised the buccal cavity.

Procedure
• Dissolve Zinc Sulphate and zinc chloride in 10ml.
• Add Dil.Hcl to get clear solution.
• Add chloroform to h2o and tartrazine solution and mix
well.
• Rinse the beaker with h20 and filter it in the same
solution.
• Adjust final volume with remaining water.
• Container And Storage :-
Store in tightly closed glass container in
cool place.
• Category :-

Dilute 20 times with its volume with warm
water for external using.
GARGLE
• What is gargle ?
It is a clear solution used in posterior region of
mouth to treat throat infection. It is usually prescribed to
reduce sourness in mild throat infection. Povidone
iodine is a iodine product a complex of iodine and
povidone which is used as a antiseptic solution
povidone. Iodine gargle is clear and red brown solution.

Procedure
1) Clean all the glassweare and dry them properly.
2) Dissolve povidone in same portion of purified H2O in
beaker add glycerin menthol and sodium Saccharate in it with
continuous stirring.
3) Dissolve Methyl salicylate in required quantity of ethanol in
separate beaker.
4) Mix both the solution and transfer into measuring cylinder.
5) Makeup volume Upto 20ml by addition of purified H2O
6) Transfer solution in a narrow mouth amber colour bottle and
clothes toughly with polypropylene screw cap label properly
and submit it.

THROAT PAINT
• What is a throat paint
• It is viscous liquid
preparation of medicament usually prescribed
to relieve cough , pharyngitis, laryngitis.
• Application of iodine to an inflammed throat for
the treatment , eliminates throat infections, kills
fungus and bacteria and eradicates the
underlying cause of sore throat

PROCEDURE
• Clean all apparatus and glass ware and dry them according to
sop
• Weigh required quantity of iodine an dtransfer into glass
mortar and triturate to get fine powder
• Weigh and dissolve to 20ml by adddition of glycerinerequired
quantity of KI in water
• To this solution add fine powdered iodine with continuous
stirring
• in another beaker containing alcohol (90%) V/v add required
quantity of peppermint oil , add half the quantity of glycerine
• Add this solution to above iodine and KI solution with
continuous stirring
• Pour content into measuring cylinder and make up the
volume
• Transfer content to amber colour wide mouth glass bottle ,

store in tightly closed
container in cool and dry place

apply with help of soft brush and
cotton swab, food and water before and after
apllication of thriat paint should be avoided for
one hour
EAR DROP
• What is ear drop ?
• These are solution or emulsion of drug in water
, glycerine and propylene glycol instilled into the
ear to remove exceesive wax , to treat infection
of ear to reduce inflammation or pain and for
cleaning of ear.
• Water is not preffered vehocle for ear drop
because it is aimmiscible with fatty secretions
present in the ear and presence of water also
make the ear canal and ideal location og of
growth of bacterial fungi

added into sufficient amount of water and mix
well
• Make up the volume upto 70 ml and add
glycerine into it

NASAL DROP
• What is a nasal drop?
• it is aqueous or oily solution
of medicament made isotonic with body fluid
instilled in nasal cavity in order to relief
conjation to reduce pain or inflammation and
subsequently pervent further infection in nasal
cavity
• Most commonly antibiotics ,antihistamine,and
symphathomonatic drug used for preparation of
nasal drops

  • 3. MOUTHWASH • What Is Mouthwash ? Mouthwash Is a Clear Solution Intended For External use to Deodourised the buccal cavity. Formulation Table : Zinc Sulphate and Zinc Chloride Mouthwash I.P : Sr.No Name Of Ingredient Quantity Given Quantity taken Roll Of Ingredients 1) Zncl 2gm 0.4gm Astringent 2) ZnSO4 1gm 0.2gm Desanitizer 3) Compound Tartarizine Solution 1ml 0.2ml Colouring Agent 4) Dil.Hcl 1ml 0.2ml Remove Terbidity 5) Chloroform H2O 50ml 10ml Preservative
  • 4. Procedure • Dissolve Zinc Sulphate and zinc chloride in 10ml. • Add Dil.Hcl to get clear solution. • Add chloroform to h2o and tartrazine solution and mix well. • Rinse the beaker with h20 and filter it in the same solution. • Adjust final volume with remaining water.
  • 5. • Container And Storage :- Store in tightly closed glass container in cool place. • Category :- Astringent. • Direction :- Dilute 20 times with its volume with warm water for external using.
  • 6. GARGLE • What is gargle ? It is a clear solution used in posterior region of mouth to treat throat infection. It is usually prescribed to reduce sourness in mild throat infection. Povidone iodine is a iodine product a complex of iodine and povidone which is used as a antiseptic solution povidone. Iodine gargle is clear and red brown solution.

Procedure 1) Clean all the glassweare and dry them properly. 2) Dissolve povidone in same portion of purified H2O in beaker add glycerin menthol and sodium Saccharate in it with continuous stirring. 3) Dissolve Methyl salicylate in required quantity of ethanol in separate beaker. 4) Mix both the solution and transfer into measuring cylinder. 5) Makeup volume Upto 20ml by addition of purified H2O 6) Transfer solution in a narrow mouth amber colour bottle and clothes toughly with polypropylene screw cap label properly and submit it.
  • 9. • Container and storage • store in amber colour bottle and close tightly with the propylene screw cap. Store below 25 C. Protect from light • Category • Antiseptic in management of local infection of the mouth and oropharynx in dental surgery • Direction • Dilute with equal volume of warm water, for external use only and not to be swallowed in large amount

THROAT PAINT • What is a throat paint • It is viscous liquid preparation of medicament usually prescribed to relieve cough , pharyngitis, laryngitis. • Application of iodine to an inflammed throat for the treatment , eliminates throat infections, kills fungus and bacteria and eradicates the underlying cause of sore throat

PROCEDURE • Clean all apparatus and glass ware and dry them according to sop • Weigh required quantity of iodine an dtransfer into glass mortar and triturate to get fine powder • Weigh and dissolve to 20ml by adddition of glycerinerequired quantity of KI in water • To this solution add fine powdered iodine with continuous stirring • in another beaker containing alcohol (90%) V/v add required quantity of peppermint oil , add half the quantity of glycerine • Add this solution to above iodine and KI solution with continuous stirring • Pour content into measuring cylinder and make up the volume • Transfer content to amber colour wide mouth glass bottle ,
  • 13. • CATEGORY treatment of laryngitis, pharyngitis,and follicular tonsillities • Storage and direction store in tightly closed container in cool and dry place Direction apply with help of soft brush and cotton swab, food and water before and after apllication of thriat paint should be avoided for one hour
  • 14. EAR DROP • What is ear drop ? • These are solution or emulsion of drug in water , glycerine and propylene glycol instilled into the ear to remove exceesive wax , to treat infection of ear to reduce inflammation or pain and for cleaning of ear. • Water is not preffered vehocle for ear drop because it is aimmiscible with fatty secretions present in the ear and presence of water also make the ear canal and ideal location og of growth of bacterial fungi

PROCEDURE • Weigh required amount of sodium bicarbonate added into sufficient amount of water and mix well • Make up the volume upto 70 ml and add glycerine into it • CATEGORY- wax softener • STORAGE AND CONTAINER-plastic bottle inbuilt with with container and store in cool place • DIRECTION –for external use only

NASAL DROP • What is a nasal drop? • it is aqueous or oily solution of medicament made isotonic with body fluid instilled in nasal cavity in order to relief conjation to reduce pain or inflammation and subsequently pervent further infection in nasal cavity • Most commonly antibiotics ,antihistamine,and symphathomonatic drug used for preparation of nasal drops

PROCEDURE • Weigh required amount of ephedrine hydrochloride added to3/4th volume of water • Weigh require amount of NaCl added to the solution of ephedrine hydrochloride and finally make up the volume with water • CATEGORY-nasal decongestent • CONTANER AND STORAGE- store in coloured flutted bottle fitted with dropper • DIRECTION –for external use only
