2. Heart is a completely muscular
organ
Human heart is a conical, hollow
organ located behind the sternum in
the thoracic cavity.
3. Heart is protected
by a double layered
membranous sac
called pericardium.
In between the
pericardial
membrane is the
pericardial space
which is filled with
pericardial fluid.
Human heart is four
chambered i.e., two
auricles and two
ventricles.
4. The auricles are the upper chambers
while the ventricles are the lower
chambers.
The auricles are thin walled and are
separated by inter auricular septum
and ventricles are thick walled which
is separated by interventricular
septum
5. The right auricles receives impure blood
from different body parts through two
large veins superior and inferior
venecava.
The left auricles receives pure blood
from the lungs by pulmonary veins.
6. From the right ventricles arises an artery
known as Pulmonary artery, which carries
deoxygenated blood to the lungs for
purification.
7. • From the left
ventricle arises a
main blood vessel
known as aorta
which carries pure
blood to various
body parts.
• The opening of the
pulmonary artery &
aorta are guarded
by semilunar valves.
8. Semilunar valves prevent the backward flow of
blood from the pulmonary aorta and artery to
their respective ventricles.
The right auricular ventricle valve is known as
tricuspid valve and the left auricular valve is
known as bicuspid valve.
