2. Why Slasher?
Slasher is the most exhilarating and thrilling I believe out of the several other sub-
genres of horror. It constantly has its audience on the edge of their seats as they
sit through a continued cat and mouse chase between the victims and their killer.
Furthermore, it includes jump scares to keep up the level of fear for the audience.
These jump scares are usually followed by a gory and brutal death for the victims.
This is also just as thrilling and weirdly exciting for crazed slasher audiences as
the way in which the victims are killed are usually so brutal it causes its audience
to cringe and hide behind their hand. I would love to recreate this type of effect on
an audience and I believe it would be a fun experience to recreate a typical
slasher narrative yet be able to add my own twist.
3. Why I chose Sub-Genre;
I was particularly interested in
researching into the slasher genre as
one of my favourite slashers is
Scream I think it is one of the most
iconic slashers. It also has one of the
most remembered antagonists known
to slasher, the iconic mask is
commonly associated with horror; this
highlighted how important my
antagonists costume is to my
audience.
