example the woods, mansions in the middle of nowhere and summer camps.
Power cut and phone lines cutting often foreshadow the dangers approaching.

• Character may be vulnerable and endangered with death, be
enforced to deal with the deaths of others.
• endorse strong exhilaration, suspense and a great level of
expectancy.

o Psychological horror targets to make uneasiness by revealing common or
widespread psychological and emotional helplessness and fright.
o It is used to create the illusion that the happenings in the film could come about
with the audience.
o Affected characters tend to have a normal and ordinary lives which is frightening
as it is suggesting there is a possibility it could happen in real life.

5. Comedy-horror
 Comedy-Horror films intends to alert the audience, but also
deliver amusing escape that let the spectators laugh at their
fright.
 associations comedy with horror movie themes/subjects.
 often use sarcasm on horror stereotypes as its main focus of
hilarity or take a story in a dissimilar viewpoint.
 Unforeseen circumstances- different characters acting
unpredictably to horror events create comical circumstances.

 Slasher horror makes a different plot that includes a
psychopathic killer that pursues and murders its
victims through ruthless methods, frequently with
sharp weapons such as a blade or chopper.

 Killer is stereotyped to have gone through a trauma or
injustice in life which leads them into stalking and
butchering their victims .
 Killer also comes back in multiple sequels in order to
get revenge and forward their anger to more victims.

Captivates the audience through the
helplessness of the human body and the

vivid viciousness.
The incentive for fear in a splatter film
comes from bodily annihilation and the
discomfort accompanying it.
