EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTIONS
AS THE DEPARTMENT MANAGER MY PLAN TO IMPROVE PRODUCTIVITY IS
TO CREATE A TEAM RESPONSIBILITY MAP WITH EACH OCCUPATION
HAVING TO MEET THREE GOALS AS BROUGHT FORTH FROM THEIR JOB
DESCRIPTIONS. SAFETY BONUS ALSO TO BE ADMINISTERED. I HAVE
ALSO GIVEN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP’S A COLI.
1. The team is evaluated nightly by the Department Manager to ensure task
compliance. As each group of tasks is followed during entire shift the
employee will accrue points throughout the week. When the point total
reaches 100, the employee will receive an additional $100.00 ($1200.00 max
per year) on their next payroll check. This incentive will be communicated
during the weekly safety meeting. In addition to the mapping strategy I will
offer a safety bonus of an additional $100.00 to the forklift operators and
maintenance technicians for a “No Incident Month”. This amount will be
paid out to the employee on their next payroll check.
2. The employees will understand these concepts better when it is
communicated through meetings and actual “putting it into practice”.
Understanding will also be better when they hear incentives through co-
workers.
3. The rewards will be calculated as the employees complete each task and
achieve each safety goal. The plan will be relatively easy because they are
doing their job already. Offering incentives such as this will only motivate
them to achieve higher goals. The rewards will be offered on a weekly basis
as long as goals are met.
4. I will ensure the validity by having checklists for the employees to use on an
every-shift basis. Also, with the safety incentive, less reportable injuries over
a span of time will help make it valid.
