Planned, organized, and directed the work of correctional and inmate staff engaged in the
following activities: budgeting and accounting; data processing; personnel, health and safety;
labor relations; food preparation and service; procurement, supply, and warehousing
operations; mailroom receipt and distribution; administrative and visitation porters; accounts
receivable, accounts payable and inmate accounts; clothing issue, replacement, and laundry
operations; inmate hobby; and commissary operations; Directed the preparation of the
budget and quarterly estimates of materials, supplies, and equipment required for maintaining
and operating the facility, and maintained an effective budgetary control system; supervised
the preparation/administration of contracts, purchase and control of supplies and equipment,
and approved work orders; Directed the maintenance of the accounting records and exercised
control over Inmate Funds, Inmate Welfare Fund, and expenditures; Processed the data
processing and automation of administrative and other records utilized within the facility;
Maintained the records for equipment requests, major and minor capital outlay, and special
repair/maintenance projects.; Prepared statistical reports and other data; Compiled the billing
for the state and federal contracts for inmate housings; Represented the facility in meetings
with state agencies, contractors, CCA contracted lobbyist and other parties; Represented the
facility at meetings on budget and fiscal affairs at the state, federal and corporate level;
Maintained and reviewed the policies and procedures for the departments under my care and
assured they were in compliance with all rules and regulations to maintain the safety of
facility employees and inmates; Directed the food service department of the facility,
including nutritional planning, food ordering, food preparation and service, hygiene, and
related security operations; Directed the warehouse department of the facility, including
clothing issue, repair, replacement, and laundry operations providing service to the entire
facility; Directed the commissary operations of the facility, reviewed and approved items
requested by inmates, and removed items posing potential safety threats. Ordering, sales and
maintaining operational store front; Meet with staff in charge of the various business services
activities and advises them of problems relating to these activities; Recruited, selected,
trained, and evaluated the performance of staff and recommend appropriate action as needed;
Insured that working relationships of the business services staff and inmates are consistent
with CCA’s policy of fair, firm and consistent; Received and responded to inmate KITES
(communications) regarding business services functions; Participated in initial inmate
classification committee reviews; Served as a member of the facilities top management
team, participated in decisions affecting facility staff and inmates; Supervision of a 45 to 50
staff and 125 to 150 inmate staff; Facility Startup & Inventory Team as assigned: Including
traveling to other CCA facilities new and existing and state facilities: For startup assignments
the task would be to prepare the facility for incoming inmates and set up departments: For
inventory assignments the task would be to count all items and cross check totals for audit
compliance; Served as Alternate Duty Officer in the absence of the Chief of Security; makes
decisions impacting both custody and business services functions. As a member of the
institutional management team, responded to any emergencies or other form of disruption
initiated by or involving inmates. Responsible for overseeing selection, training, and
supervision of inmate workers assigned to business services functions and for related security
practices intended to protect persons and property.
