1. To whom it may concern,
I am very happy to recommend Anouk de Baat in her career pursuit. As acting chair of the
Department of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship, I had the pleasure of working with
Anouk, and got to know her as a highly dedicated, conscientious, constructive team player.
Between September 2015 and August 2016, she was Lecturer (Wetenschappelijk Docent)
within our department, and in this capacity fulfilled a wide range of activities. In this
recommendation letter, I like to highlight some of these activities, and emphasize Anouk’s
key contributions as much as possible.
Her position involves working in a dynamic, international and research-driven environment,
where Anouk was required to work independently, quickly having wide-ranging
responsibilities. Anouk was enrolled in a divers set of coordination projects and teaching
activities. Early on, she became responsible for the overall coordination of the courses of
Philosophy of Science and Strategic Management that are taken by over 1.500
undergraduates enrolled in the (International) Business Administration programs. As a
coordinator she was responsible for, among other things, communication with students and
RSM’s Program Management, hiring and educating teaching assistants, and conducting
assignments and exams.
Moreover, Anouk was responsible for teaching part of strategic management and
entrepreneurship courses to first and second year bachelor students, coaching 12 master
thesis students throughout their master thesis trajectory, and coaching 27 bachelor thesis
students in theirs. Her work was highly valued - the bachelor thesis students evaluated
Anouk with an average grade of 8.9, one of the highest evaluations given to faculty for this
task. Furthermore, Anouk helped develop a revised course in the Bachelor program,
Orientation on Entrepreneurship, and she educated master students in becoming tutors for
this course. She also contributed in developing a new trajectory for our master program
Strategic Management.

RE: Letter of Recommendation Anouk de Baat
Date Rotterdam, 01 July 2016
2. While Anouk had a very extensive coordination and teaching portfolio, her dedication to the
work did not stop there. She also took the responsibility for performing extra tasks, such as
creating protocols for new lecturers, developing teaching manuals, and enabling students
with extra learning possibilities, for example through creating writing manuals. The manuals
particularly will be of great use for us for years to come.
We have gotten to know Anouk as a pro-active and hardworking professional. Anouk did a
fantastic job regarding her responsibilities and beyond. As a coach she was really open and
approachable for her master thesis students and she was highly appreciated by all the
students that worked with her. The same accounts for the students she trained for being a
teaching assistant or tutor. Anouk showed that she can both work independently, for
example solving various student-related problems for Strategic Management, and function in
a team, for example being the facilitator among the teaching assistants and tutors.
I am sure Anouk would be a great addition to any organization. She will thrive in a
challenging environment where sustainability is valued and where her talent is appreciated
and nurtured. Please do take a close look at Anouk’s vita and profile. If I can help bolster
Anouk’s application in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Prof. Taco H. Reus
