2. History behind advertisement
• Radio plays have been mainly advertised between slots on the different
radio stations.
• With the change in technological advances it means that there has been a
change in the way radio plays are advertised.
• They also use newspapers, magazines and, the internet to advertise radio
plays, with these other ways they can get the radio play out to many more
people.
• Normally radio plays are produced to suit the demographic population
where it will be played to. It will be suited to those who are the most
likely to listen to radio plays.
3. • The first radio play broadcast was first done in the August 28th 1922 by the
Queensboro corporation.
•
95% of people still listen to the radio weekly these days even though
there has been many advances in technology.
4. Newspaper advertisement
• Radio’s understand that people read the news
papers so they will put an ad in them that they
want to stand out to people.
5. This is an example of radio advertisement in newspapers.
The publishers have made the header on this bold so that it
stands out to the reader of the newspaper.
They have also made the
background colourful using two
different colours that blend in
well with all the writing while
making it stand out. This could
suggest that this programme is
fun as the colours suggest
summer and it being a bit more
light hearted as the colours are
light.
The sell lines have been made clear
and little writing telling the
audience about what it is about the
show.
6. This is another example of a radio
advertisement in a newspaper
The header shows the date the show
will be held. This is unusual as many
have more information on them and
they tend to have the title on them.
This one like the last
one uses colours to
stand out at you. This
time it uses pink to
stand out.
This connotation this is
catering to a more
feminine audience. The
colour pink tends to be
associated with being a
girls colour.
They have used a
darker pink for the title
making sure it stands
out from the other pink
on the page.
The secondary images of
the snowflakes suggest
that it will have something
to do with the theme of
winter/ Christmas looking
at the date it is.
The Sell lines have
limited
information on
them only giving
the basics of
whose hosting the
show.
7. They have made
the colours on this
advert to match
with reds and
yellows.
The only image
they have on it is a
crown.
The connotation
of this could mean
that it’s something
that is posh.
The style they have put the writing in makes it stand
out. They have made sure that it is big enough so
that it stands out to people when they are reading
the newspaper.
8. This radio ad in a
magazine is simpler, and
just has the basic
information on it
The only image on it is three
nines that are in three different
colours.
9. The connotation to the
colour suggests that the
person who is being
remembered is from a time
long ago.
Who older people may
remember when things used
to be in black and white.
The writing stands out on
the black background being
in white. It makes it easy to
read, only has the
information a listener may
need on it.
The picture is quite small compared
to some of the ones I’ve looked at
that have had secondary images.
This picture suggests this is the
person they want people to
remember.
10. When the war of the
worlds was first heard on
the radio it caused wide
spread panic.
This shows the powerful effect that the authors
can have on the listeners. By using sound and
voices conforming to the codes and conventions
of radio plays.
