Illuminating the Self and A Public Engagement Project As a project, we are keen to engage with the public and the epilepsy community to ensure that the project meets the needs of people with epilepsy. This is why we have a patient advisory group who have helped shape the requirements of the therapy. We have also held open events and talks about the project where anybody can learn about CANDO and ask questions. To help that engagement we have collaborated with renowned artist Andrew Carnie for concurrent exhibitions which have been running since the start of 2020 at the Hatton Gallery and Vane in Newcastle upon Tyne. The exhibition at Vane has now closed but will continue at the Hatton Gallery until 9 May 2020. We have also worked with North East based theatre company Operating Theatre to develop new drama Deep Mind & The Great Puzzle which will be performed during Brain Awareness Week in March 2020. The result of over two years of research with CANDO, the work aims to stimulate discussion and understanding of epilepsy and the use of technology within the human brain.
