This assignment incorporates elements linked to research of the National Curriculum and the different Key Stages. You
are required to investigate recent Government strategies to raise achievement and to highlight your own settings extra
curricular activities. You are required to outline the factors that influence teaching and learning and to study the role of
the Teaching Assistant. Included is information on why it is important to plan and prepare activities and the importance
of having experienced Teaching Assistants to support teachers and children in the classroom.
STRENGTHS
 Gave a very good description of the subjects within the National Curriculum for Wales
 You have written in more detail about English, this was very interesting to read
 Lovely range of extra curricular activities.
 A good range of factors that affect learning indicated here.
 You outlined Teaching Assistant job roles and responsibilities.
 Some fair examples of how the Teaching assistant encourages independent learning and offer support with
feedback to the teacher
 You have a good general understanding of the role of the Teaching Assistant throughout and you have
included some good examples of effective practice
 A bibliography included and a good attempt at using quotes
AREAS TO IMPROVE
 Your terminology from question 1 is missing eg Sats, Attainment targets
 It is not clear which key stage you have focussed on for your detailed description. Please always read the
questions very carefully.
 Your strategies are school strategies and not national/government strategies for learning. Also it is
unclear which of the two activities is for your focus extra curricular activity, again please read the
question carefully.
 I would have liked to have seen your research for the job description
 Please remember to show exactly where the quotes are with speech marks at the beginning and end of
the actual wording. You have a long bibliography however very few quotes within the assignment. Quotes
and literature sources should match and if you did not use quotes in the body of your assignment you
don’t need that literature source in your bibliography.
