variety of classes of antibacterial such as fluoroquinolones, oxazolidinones,
macrolides and ketolides.
Drug diffusion assays in agar media.
Spectrum determination by Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC)
determination by agar and broth dilution method.
Modified agar dilution method for MIC determination in 96-culture format using
lids of 96 well microtitre plates to generate extensive data.
MIC determination for anaerobe cultures by using anaerobic chamber
Performing biofilm assays for Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus genera
Time kill studies for diverse pathogens
Determination of resistance selection window

Enzyme inhibition assays (Determination of IC50)
In-vitro resistance development:
• To develop an In vitro resistance to differentiate the activities of NCEs and
antibacterial agents used in the clinics.
Molecular Biology Techniques:
• Genotyping by using PCR
• Isoelectric focusing (IEF) of ESBL
• PFGE
• SDS-PAGE
In vivo expertise
Extensive hands on experience in in vivo evaluation of various NCE s from variety of
classes of antibacterial such as fluoroquinolones, oxazolidinones, macrolides,
ketolides and beta lactams
� Animal handling and experimentation on mice, rat, rabbits and guinea pigs, etc.
� Viable counts of bacilli in organs of animals.
� In vivo efficacies of drugs against bacterial infections.
� Experience in development of animal models for basic screening of NCE�s
against variety of bacterial pathogens, such as:
