3. INTRODUCTION
• An effective teamwork is now globally recognized as an
essential tool for constructing a more effective and
patient-centred health care delivery system.
• In delivering health care, an effective teamwork can
immediately and positively affect patient safety and
outcome.

4. DEFINITION OF TERMS
• TEAM: A team is a small number of people with
complementary skills who are committed to a common
purpose, performance goals and approach for which they
hold each other mutually accountable.
• TEAMWORK: is defined as two or more people who
interact interdependently with a common purpose,
working toward measurable goals that benefit from
leadership that maintains stability while encouraging
honest discussion and problem solving.

6. THE HEALTHCARE TEAM
• The health care team consists of a group of people who
coordinate their particular skills in order to assist a
patient or his family.
• Healthcare is a team effort.
• “No one can do everything, but everyone can do
something.”
• Each member of the team plays a vital role, and is inter-
dependent on other team members for various aspects
of patient care.
