Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product
Firstly, for looking at my drawing planning that I have done on paper. I would say that
when I was drawing these out I haven’t used used two of them as I thought that would
make it seem better to be fitted together into one instead on two separate pages. As this
was for my drawing story boards. From this I have used only 11 pages from this story
board. From this story board to my digital story board is that I have made them look the
way I want them to look into the theme of Antarctica from the mountains on the outside
and inside of an igloo. These flat plans gave me numerous space of how the text was going
to be represented with a filled layer box behind it to make it to be stand out of the page
overall. As this was the key pint of the story of my flat how I was going to base around the
storyline. So around the text I had created the visual images to go with it. As this would
make it seem more spaced out from one another. Make more clear and simple of how it
has been done with al ready existing projects of story's that are out there already. But
however with the drawing flat plans I could only use a pencil or pen to draw out of how
each section is going turn out to be. However, the problem with this I cannot adjust the
choice of colours as this is the main problem for this type of flat plan for drawing one for
the story board. As you can see to the right hand side that my drawings are all in pen ink,
this doesn’t help me chose the right colours of how I want to make it seem like. Where as,
the other beneficial’s for this story board shows how I would reflect each section of
furniture or the objects of how they should be laid out from one to the other. As these are
chosen different varieties for each section of each object can be changed to fit the
purpose of the sector for the relevant page. Some of these drawing helped me to set
things out for all the individual pages of how everything should be spaced out from each
other.

Secondly, using digital flat plans like a storyboard but it has been made on Photoshop. From these story
boards is firstly with the benefits of using this on Photoshop is that you can pick out colours that you can
see. By also using this in colours, I can also use this guide what type of colours fits that will mix with in
everything which has represented onto the page. So from going to the objects that have represented in
these individual pages I have recreated into my own way. For an example of this is when I had recreated
the igloo.
As you can see her from the igloo that has been represented in
the digital flat plan has made me think to create own on the
actual Photoshop. On my own creation of it. As this has shown
that this has been in my plans so I added it in to be produced
into my own final product. As this creation has been numerous
sequences around my storyline. As most of the sequences of
story happens within side the igloo itself. As I thought it would
be a good Idea creating it but then just recreating it for
numerous scenes.
For my main character Goldilocks she was just going to be recreated in different positions of how you
can see her here on the various positions on the digital flat plans. These have been shown the way I
would have wanted to be shown in my finally product the way I have designed them to be shown. From
the digital plan of my storyboard, can see from each stage of my story how everything was going to be
planned out. For instance how I was going to set some specific objects around the place. But, however,
from my digital plan to drawing plan they have been made to be seen as various ways but they don’t
really look mostly like my final storyboard which I have created. As some of these picture I have created
on the right hand side. I haven’t used as my final dissension. So for instant for my first page I have just
made the two characters of Goldilocks and the dog called Bella. This is highly different compared
towards my drawing flat plans that I did firstly. Which can see below. As you can see here that these two
very different as you see from the drawing flat plan is that I have set the house, mountains and the
people in all various different positions. So in my final product of what I have come to is that the setting
of the house has positioned more forwards towards the audience and also the way it has been sized up
to be shown up much bigger than the original idea.
However for the mountains I have made seem to be far in to the distance
but going behind the house instead of being higher than house.
Lastly the people which I have created I have only made Goldilocks and her
dog called Bella. Also how all the over positions where going to be around it.

Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product
From looking at my final product which I have created from looking from my original intentions. Is that from the look from
all of my pages I have done. Do seem very similar pages that go back to my original ideas which I have made by my flat
plans and story boards. As these particular pages look similar to the ones which I have made into my product. Comparing
them to my storyboards and flat plans.
Storyboard Digital flat plan Final product
From this page that looked similar towards each other from going from storyboard, digital flat plan and my final product. Firstly I got this idea
from the story called ‘The Gruffalo’, as I have seen this has been in most books for little children books. As I thought it was a good idea to put it
in as it way to express these little adventure towards the igloo. This was better idea to keep going through this instead of having three different
pages individually. As this would seem more boring to this type of audience. As this audience which I am targeting at is ages from 3 – 6 year
groups. As they want an easy flow to the system to this kind of book with its visual imagery. As this has been shown in three stage to get to the
igloo. Of first how she is with her dog and then secondly she loses it and then lastly she she finds the igloo which is puffing out smoke. Of the
smells of the food been captured into the air of the cooking which they had made the penguins. But also with these three different two
planning's I have the first, flat plan to look quite messy as the three individually circles have been spaced out randomly across the page. But
however in my digital flat plan and my final product. Can see that these two circles of the way I have made them seem more closer together and
also the way they have been spaced out evenly. This shows that the way the different levels have been shown out. So, then you know by this that
you know what you should look at first and then second and then lastly. As the text has all been resented above them all to also in title you what
is happening with in this picture on it is own.
From this there are multiple similar pages that link with in my all my planning for instance like my storyboard, digital flat plan and eventually
product.
How well have you constructed your images?
How well have you constructed your images? You could talk about the overall visual appearance
and well as the use of texture and colour.
From my final product picture I would say that my construction of these images which I have
created. Considering, that I have tried my best to make it look like an original picture image.
Is by firstly, talking about all my backgrounds is that I have done well on of how I have made
them. As some of are highly different but then some of them are the same like the igloos. So,
for looking at the backgrounds on the ones with a mountains behind them. I have done this
well by adding into the mountains a drift of snow type of texture floating away from the
mountains. As this makes the whole background seem mysterious and and dangerous place
to be. Following this the drifting snow from the mountains and also the various dust from
mountains. Also as well with the mountains I have made an texture detailed within the
mountain by enhancing a darker colour that can be easily been shown as the darker shading
on top of mountain. This makes the texture of the mountains to be seen as more appealing
and works with in the whole of the inter scene which has been created all the around the
scene. From this from mountains and everything else makes the various scenes and the
background of igloo to be more constructed of how much colour alteration going to it with
how objects have been viewed into each pages.
For this page I have constructed very well. For considering, that the way I have set everything
out to this room is all right. For instance the wardrobe as this projects to be a bedroom. As the
colour and and the bed fit with each other with well. As link in to each as well. Of the way I
have made seem that the way wardrobe set in to the far background of the bedroom. So, the
wardrobe seen to be smaller than it actually is. As the first view would be the bed and then
moving off it to around what’s happening through out the scene of page. The bed has been
shown to be texture of a crimpled look within the quilts of where Goldilocks is underneath. This
texture makes it seems more life like by having this makes the effect of the bed. I like the way I
have made the construction of the way I have made the bed a bit 3D ish. By putting on to the
side of the bed a kind of rectangle
How well have you constructed your images?
How well have you constructed your images? You could talk about the overall visual appearance and well as the use of
texture and colour.
The way I have constructed this image is well and simple. From the way I have created this image with the chairs having
them all in an even line on a slight slant from one another. As each chair was curved differently to one another as they all
spread out. So that this shows that the main view point to this story page is that it’s main focus is onto the chairs. As there
nothing else to betray a divert over attention on other things like the characters. So this is why I have only used a chairs
here instead of enhancing character on to this page. As this keeps the flow of the story to go through the story very nicely.
As for the colours for each of the chairs are they are always the same types of colours. As one of the penguins belongs is
always red or green or orange. Depending which penguin it is. As this fits well within the story of when Goldilocks goes
inside she sees the three bowls. The same types of colours which have been represented on to here. The colours which I
have chosen all complement each other. The texture of the igloo of each of the different tiles have been shown in
different shapes. This shows that the texture of tiles and the different colour of them reflect on to them. But also with in
the image itself I have added a picture to the side on the igloo wall. This gives the sense of imagery to make it feel more
home based feature towards it. As this just makes it that more calm and not so over crowded.
I think that my overall look on my story the images have all been constructed well and simple for the particular audience
that I am targeting it at. But however there are some pages that seem a bit rushed and which I could do better on is pages 8
and 9. These two pages have both got the image of the just the girls face seems a bit scary without not having a body. As I
should have created a body for character as well within the bed. But apart from this for the construction of the looks of the
image of the pages. I think that everything else looks good and that it suits it’s background of were it has been placed.
These two ages which have been represented above. Which has been shown.
How well have you used text to anchor your images
You should talk about the combination of words, images and text.
Throughout my pages I would say that most of my images and text and word type of font which I have
chosen does all match each other. But however there are a couple of pages which don’t correspond
with the anchoring everything together for one full page.
Most pages like these two on the right hand side fit the anchoring category of how it should look. So
the first image to the right hand side. Has been anchored all together by firstly looking at the text and
the background of which it is over. The background box colour matches everything with in this scene.
As this colour that has been used is a pale cream colour, so that the text would be able to be seen
easier and clearer. Also talking about this feature of this shape box is that it really pulls away from the
scene so that the text can easily be noticed. Around this it has got leafs pattern which is going around
the boxes in just two types of colours. This makes the contrast seem more depth towards the igloo. As
one of these light blues which have been used which represents one of the colours from the igloo. The
other colour is light colour that compliments the other colour internally which goes with the scene so
nicely. From the text and the words goes off from this towards above it is the scene of what’s
happening. As I have featured all the penguin family to be seen in this one scene in the their various
colours which has been shown on their bellies. As you can see the look of their faces seem angry
which gives us the sense that they aren’t happy that a person has come into there house and messed
up there house. Also the reaction of Goldilocks face seems to tell how well it says within the text. Of
how she is feeling shocked and scared of sights of penguins.
However from this page there has been pages where the text doesn’t interlink with in the scene of the
story. As this by means doesn’t fit with in the flow of the scene from going to one page to the other.
So as you see hear the way I have chosen the colour to be a bright pink doesn’t balance with the page.
As all the other colours are all much darker compared to others. So this makes the text seems to be
out of place. As this doesn’t show a good anchor of this image to the text and the words. But apart
from this everything else seems good with in the page of the image. As all colour’s are all well suited
for each other, to get that dark blue, black, cream white colours which have been expressed here.
Also the same thing with this page there has been kind of the same problem. But however, the main
colour of the shape of the rectangle has to be shown to be a dull pink colour which is a huge
difference compared everything else. As well everything is cream colour’s or dark colour’s. As, this
shows that this doesn’t fit within this page either of the flow of pattern from going to other pages.
From these two pages I should make them to a simple cream colour which will benefit the whole of
the scene. As this wouldn’t make so side-distracting as it all ready is as I want to make less of this.

From this what I have said on my, ‘Audience and Target Market’ is that I have aimed it this specific age group from ages from 3 to 6 year olds. As
for here I have said that other books which have this specific age group just have simple visual imagery and simple text which link with each
other. As I have both intrigued both genders for the boys and the girls. Firstly, intrigue the boys to read this type of story is because of how
rebellious she is towards her mother. You see her being ‘rebellious’ is by the beginning of the story as she doesn’t listen to her mother that she
shouldn’t go out with out her there. As she tells Goldilocks it is highly dangerous to go outside on her own. From this she wants to have
adventure from this, but out so badly of what she had planned in her head. Also the way that boys would also like this type of story is because of
she intrudes into a house and eats the penguins food and sleeps in their beds. Lastly, for the boys they would find the angry and the aggressive
part of how the penguins act towards Goldilocks as interesting and thrilling for them. However, the girls would be interested in the cuddly side to
the penguin of how they have been made to seem of their visual image. Also the creation of the dog which has been represented in various
different positions which has cute appeal towards it. Lastly, that girls that would be interested in this book is because the main character that’s
following through this story is a girl. This is how they would interest both genders.
Yes I would say that my final product are all suitable for my audience. As from page to page they are they easy to get what’s going on into my
story. Also with the text it is easy to read for ages I am appealing to. As all the pages which I have created are all simple to understand and they
have got the same style going through the book. As I would class it as middle class because of how most of this group is referred to this type of
group. Of how it has been represented and that also that it would work best as middle class as it would open part to people to buy it.
What do you like/dislike about the techniques you have used?
Reference specific tools you used with images
The specific techniques which I like about my work is by firstly looking at these three images.
By looking at the first image on the left hand side. I like the way I have created the feature of a wooden which was brought
through to the house. As this type of techniques to put the clipping mask on to the square to reveal the features within the
wood and the textures. From the wood which I had picked out I had good definition lines going across with a dark colour. As
this part of the house suits it so well and compliments the whole scene. As you can see in between the dark lines there are
various sketches which have been shown in a lighter colour’s and variation of darker colour’s as well. Also I like look the way
that the lines don’t look all look even they all look different. In various thickness. With this you can use the opacity to be
shown how much of this kind of texture of can be shown through from the base colour of the shape which was original
there. On this house of the texture of this would can see a good depth of contrast between the variation of colours which
have been chosen. Here I used the clipping mask to clip this merge with the shape tool which I had which was a plan
square.
What do you like/dislike about the techniques you have used?

With in this image I like the way I have made the mountains have been made to look
as if the wind blowing off them. As this creates an dramatic effect on to the
landscape for the background. As I have made this by using the brush tool, for this I
have used the soft brush tool to get this kind of effect of a kind of fading effect on to
it. Made to be seen as the snow is floating away from the mountains. As this is going
behind the mountains itself to be made to look like this. As well with the mountains I
like the way I have made textures of the mountains are meant to be representing the
mountain rocks and then the over halves are made to be the softer parts of the
mountains. As for the softer parts of mountains and the rocks parts of mountains to
be changed colour from the mountains at the front and then the mountains behind
as well.
I like the way I have made the individual circles on here for the mini stage of how she
gets to the house of the igloo. This makes the actually stage of this interesting and to
where she is going. I have made the individual circles out of the shape tool. With in the
shapes I have made scene to be made from a paint brush to make the snow and and sky
and also the igloo. For the sky part I have made two of the circle shapes to have
snowflakes in three various types of them.
For the background for this I have just used the technique of rotoscopping. I have used this
with everything with in this scene on this page of what you can see here. For the igloo you
can see that there various shades of colours that have been shown to make the effect that
it is coming out of the wall a bit. Also the way I have designed the beds all differently so
then you will know which bed she goes towards when following the story. For here as well I
have made different colours for beds to go with theme from the bowls and so on.
What I dislike with these two images is that the way I have put Goldilocks
sleeping there in bed. Of the way I have just shown her face and that is it but I
should have done the rest of body like for an example her arms to be
represented out of the bed. As this wouldn’t as so odd as I have created to look
like. On the first image from one of my pages, I didn’t know what to do with her
eyes to show that she was asleep so just gave her eye mask as this seems quite
rushed. Doesn’t really represent the element of what I was trying to go for. So
maybe I should look something up to get a better idea of what to do for her
eyes. Also the way I should represent the way she could have laid in bed in a
different positions so it looks as if she is a sleep instead of looks like she is
sitting up in the bed. So I would like to see her being laid down in the bed.
For the second image from my story I should have made Goldilocks sit up more
in bed as by looking more surprised of the fact that the penguins have come in
and intruded on her while she was sleeping. So that her face is in the wrong
position as this is very low to the duvet as this seems a bit weird of being like
within the image. However the face expression on her face for this is really good
to go with the narration of what has been said in the text. This gives the viewers
of the book that she is shocked and worried of what is about to happen to her
by the penguins.
What do you like/dislike about how your final product looks?
What do you like/dislike about how your final product
looks?
Through out each page of my story of my final product of all my images wanted to look like a nice, simple and vibrant
colours to go through out the images through my story. By they all keep this simply effect with in this type of pattern genre.
With in this type of genre I have got a wide range of colours these colours have been chosen from a range bright and some
dark colours as well. However, all these range of colours go well with each other. The contrast of which I have chosen going
from page to page. I like how I wanted each of my pages to seem a bit a different but having a link with in each page to
continue from one to another. My ideas which I have used from planning have came into perspective to be shown in my
final product of how it looks like now.
The picture which has been shown on the right hand side. By looking at the the sky on
here it looks like as if the main sky part of this is in a kind of gradient effect. By one half of
the sky has been shown in a bright colour of blue and then suddenly it goes into pure
darkness. As this effect has been shown to be effect for this type of scene and goes with
everything else on this page. As this adds to the story of how the story makes the
audience feel towards this particular page. Following from the sky it comes down from
here goes to the mountains which makes it seems that more dramatic. By also having the
very far mountain being darker colours colours compared to the other mountains which
are much forward.
Throughout all my pages I like the way they have all got around the text I have put around
them is the leaf brushes going around each individual texts. This makes it that more
interesting to read around the text and highlights that that the text doesn’t fade back in
to the background. I have chosen to do this because I have seen this kind of style been
done in various before so I thought that this age group would like to see in my own story
based book. With the books which I have seen going around the texts like this.
However, I think that my over all look towards my final product is that I think that I have
done a good job for what the age reference is meant to be for ages of 3 to 6 year olds.
Also I think that every element of the scene comes together into one whole one.
Why did you include the content you used?
Images, fonts, effects, colours
I include the relevant content such as images, fonts, effects and colours into my book. For the following reason. Firstly, I
used the content for images is because of the age group for which I am setting it at. Is that they would want to see
intriguing pictures of images from the very beginning to the very end of the story. As this helps them to get a sense of
imagery of what is happening and which they can see from there point of view of what they are meant to be seeing. As the
images are a very important part of my book because it is quite a hard place to recognise of where it has been set in
Antarctica and also an igloo as well. This gives the young generation of what it is meant to look like when I give them
impression into their minds. For there age they wouldn’t have know what these places mean or anything so putting into
imagery makes it easier for children who are looking at the images. Also I included the relevant objects and things which
have been said so they know hat I am talking about. This is highly important throughout my story that it has this to the
viewer gets and understanding of what illustrating to them. As this goes on to the text. As the text which, has been said of
what is being said in the scene. As I have chosen this text called Peppa Pig. As I have chosen this type of text to tell my story
is because I thought that it would piece well will with my story and it’s for the type this audience it is clear and simple for
them to read. Of where I have placed it on to the pages. Also with the text that I have chosen I have also given spaces in
between the lines as this makes it more easier to read. As for this book it is important to include the text been added with
in the story is because they can’t just tell what’s going on in the images there has to be text to be added in to give effect and
also makes imaginable to see it. This font goes well with my genre which I have picked out for my story. For the text I have
only used black writing apart from one scene where I have used bright pink. The reason I have used the bright colour pink is
because as it wouldn’t be fade in to the background and also it doesn’t blend with in the background. As I want to make it
to look different. The other reason I did this because it would be that your eyes will capture it first than read then look at
the images below them. The only effects which I have used within my story is to do with my sky’s as I have used a kind of a
gradient over it. This makes a dramatic effect over the particular scene which I am using over this. This is the only effect
which I have used with two different colours but they are both blue colours, two different types of shades of blue.
Why did you include the content you used?
Images, fonts, effects, colours
The colours through out the igloo scene have kind of repeated the same kinds of colours over and over again. So that they
would seem to be flow from going throughout of the igloo scenes. However, also the same kind of thing has happened
when I have created the outdoor scenes as it has got the similar qualities of the dark colours been calibrated in these
scenes.
From the inside of the Igloo. From the first scene of when
Goldilocks goes into the Igloo from to very last scene in the
Igloo. As you can see they have kept there similar kind of
bright and vibrant colours that all compliment each other
off. From each scenes of the stories.
From the outside to Antarctica. From the very first scene of
the story to be shown outside and to the very end scene but
they types of scenes that are seen outside are more darker
compared to the inside the Igloo. These colours which are
reasonable darker which I have chosen here.
The colours of the character which I had made. Looking at my penguin characters they have all very different colour shadings on to their
bellies. From one penguin this will make it easier to make out which is the parents and which is the baby of the family of he different height.
From the parents I gave one a pink belly and then the other parent the dark blue colour belly. This will show which one is a female and a
male. However with the baby I just gave it the colour red. Apart from this they have plain a dark grey colour with a orange beak. All of these
colours which I have chosen go so well with each other. However with the main character Goldilocks and her dog. They have both got similar
colours through out them both. Both these two character link with each other by having the similar colours represented on to them but
projected in different shades of colour’s.
I included these types of colours with in my story is because they aren’t that harsh and they compliment each over off. By having this very
varied type of style of colours which I have chosen to these looks given off like this.
What signs, symbols or codes have your used in your work?
Choices of colour, style, locations, character design and tone all give additional meaning to
your work.
My story has got simple and clean look to it. Of how I have chosen the specific colours to follow of from the storyline from each images and also
shows that they have different symbols and codes and signs.
Signs, symbols or codes within my story of the image I have created the deeper meanings to them as here I will tell some of the these have done
into my images. Firstly, with my characters of the penguin family. I have made symbolism of them by just creating them one from the start I have
slightly changed three out. As by giving them different colour’s bellies. As this would suggest a bit more about them that one of them is the
mother, father and baby of the family. I have also done this by changing the heights of each one of the penguins and also as well made them a bit
wider as well. So firstly we represent the colour light pink towards a more of a girly colour than boys colour this would be shown as a female
representation. Secondly, the colour blue and red represent kind of colour’s that male a associate with. So you can see that larger penguin blue is
the dad of the family, the pink penguin of the family is the mother and the baby of family is the penguin in red. This is because of their heights
they have shown to be in.
As well with the characters of Goldilocks and her dog called Bell. Firstly, the way that Goldilocks have been dressed up in big puffy coats a kind of
look that what an Alaskan would wear to go outside into the freezing cold weather. Bella her dog, looks like a husky type of dogs that you would
get out here in the Antarctica to help you get around places. The way it symbolizes details of husky type features around it’s faces and the way
the darker colour of it’s coat of her fur and where the light fur goes as well. Going back to Goldilocks when she is sleeping you can see that I have
but ‘Z’ marks going away from her mouth. This suggests that she is a sleep instead of showing her eyes I have shown the eye mask instead. As
this makes it a clear way that she is sleeping with in different colour so it doesn’t fade back in to the bed as I have made it stand out of the scene.
Also the way she is quite laid down in the bed suggests that she is asleep in this position. The way I have represented this place of signs it most
be cold, mountains and in the winter season. The way it has been symbolismed to be cold of she shivers of how Goldilocks to try and get out of
this winter weather. Can tell that it is winter weather by looking trees that it is bare and which it doesn’t have any leaves on it. Also how the
weather is pouring down with snowflakes all over the sky. All of these types of features of her goldilocks and the location she has been set in to
feel cold. The opposite of being cold is being warm and this has been featured in the bowls of how hot each one is from the steam which is
coming from each one of them. As we associate this with being very hot of how much steam is coming from the one bowl compared the two
others. As one one hasn’t got any steam coming from it so this would represent that it is cold and then the other bowls which has a little bits of
steam that coming off. This symbols that the bowl is a bit warm but a bit cold at the same time.
From the location here it doesn’t like a location that everyone would know where there are mountains and that there is nothing around it. As
this location is placed in Antarctica by of how represents an Igloo and penguins and a husky dog. As well how the weather has changed to be like
snow. But firstly, the location it has been set with mountains from going to some outdoor scenes have these in. Of how they are imaged and
toned show that they are more dangerous and more mysterious. These types of mountains have a texture of that they would seem like they are
out from a ski slope mountains or just from the alps. As these types of mountains seem hilly and different compared to each other as they all
seem a different type of colour. Also you would say that this type of setting is in Antarctica because there is an Igloo which is normally seen in
this type of region and other features. The expressions on each of their faces of the penguins all have got similar looks on to them by the way
have got all there eyes and eyebrows all frowned. This will show an expression of anger and hatred on to Goldilocks of what she has done to
their house of she has just came into as she is the intruder that broke in. As we would see this as threat from the animal of the penguin of what
signs they are giving from their individual to the human of Goldilocks. As they all giving all the same kind of threat signals come from each one.
As this make you feel unwanted in the igloo of house she intruded also that they are are strangers that she doesn’t know as well. As this also
comes as more of a danger towards poor Goldilocks.
What representations can be found in your work?
How are men, women or children shown in your work? Does your work feature different ages, races, social groups or
religions? Does a lack of any variety of character types create its own representation?
The way I have represented the three penguins is by associate them the colours which they have got shown one their bellies. Firstly, by looking at
the red and blue colours I would suggest that both of these colours would relate to both boy colours. As they seem very masculine of a
representation to them. This is the way to make them out which is what kind of gender they both are, if they are female or male. Secondly, the
female penguin is the one which has been represented in the light pink belly. This makes a good representation for the different genders. Also
they are represented in different heights this also shows who represents who in the family. Like for instances who is the mother and father then
lastly child. For this type of characters which I have created here I have not represented and details like ages that could have easily identified or
even race or social groups and religions. They didn’t make this the number subject to projected on these types of characters this would make
these types of character over detailed if I did with in each one. This is why I have decided to not do, just make it nice and simple from the
characters to make them easily representable to recognise. As well with my other animal character which I have created is a dog. Is hard to
suggest if it is a female or a male of the way I have represented it. Also I think that all my animal characters have all made their own creations of
their own representation.
For my main character called Goldilocks. I have made seem like just a normal looking young girl which has been aged around
10 years old. This young girl has been shown to be in Alaskan clothing as she has got a big hoodie going around her head and
also the colours of this shown to be dark and cream colours. As this the natural look of how they should represented of what
they wear when they go out to these types of locations in Antarctica. Goldilocks has been shown to wear big boots this also
shows how cold it can be there and that you have to be always rapped up. For this type of character she doesn’t have any
religion or social groups. However, I have shown a race by the colour of her skin. The colour of her skin is white but little bit
of texture of darkness shadings into her skin. Her skin has be represented in various countries around the world which has
been shown. As she just seems like a normal girl but however changed that little bit to fit into the scenes which needs to be
in. To fit with in the genre of it all. She has been represented as young girl, of a child. This has been done by how tall she is to
be shown. As I have tried to make her to small to be represented like this, by this would make it seem clearer to the
audience that she is young girl instead of an adult. For Goldilocks, I have also made her seem to represent a kind a friendly
person. The reason for this is because of how her eyes have been represented, how big eyes are. This makes her eye
catching with big eyes like this. Another, reason for her being like this is because the way she is kind of smiling at us. The way
that she has represented of how her arms are and everything else doesn’t seem defensive at all more opening to people and
mysterious. She has been shown in various different scenes that have been made in different situations of bad ones and also
What style have you employed in your products?
Discuss influences/ existing products
What visual style does your work have and why did you choose it?
From my planning mood board I had made a page out of here for just inside pages of how they planned everything. How they laid out things like
text, imagery and spacing. From here this really helped to to get research on here for this part, as I didn’t know how I was going to plan
everything out. From going through the pages out of book that I have made. The way they have planned them all out influenced me how to get
how I was going to make mine like for my audience which they have interested in but not turned away. I got existing inside pages from online to
get the feeling of what the look I was trying to get to go for. As I were looking I saw that not most of them had the characters with in the pages
that had seen. So, this gave me good ideas for an example of this is were there is just the bowls, chairs and the table of the kitchen and just
simple black text. This gave me a straight outline of what was going in the story instead of putting any characters with in the frame. Also with this
I have chosen they have made the chairs more meaning full by adding the letters for the family, like for instances (Mama =M), (Papa= P) and
(Baby Bear = B). This makes this a clear a meaning of which bowl and chair belongs too. For the writing of what it says within the text. However,
this imagery here doesn’t have any kind of style towards it because it just in a clear black and white colour’s. But just simple style around it which
is clear and obvious. How that you can see in this image, you can tell that they have made the image out of drawings. To get this kind child like
style. As, this will get through to the children to what’s happening in this story scene which has been created.
For this image to the right hand side. They have made the style towards this type of book to use your eyes
more, this has been shown in three circles up close to the creator of it’s claws, jaws and it’s teeth. This has
made me influence my product by making that I can use circles use with in little scenes so it doesn’t use just
one page. As by using these little circles, it makes it more exciting for the child who is reading the book. Of
how they making out to be little glimpses of the monster of what he is meant to be looking like. I have
associated with this in my own work is by using the circles and putting with in these circles mini scenes of
how she gets to the igloo and fins it in the middle of nowhere. This type of style makes it seem more
interring for both the existing book and my own book style. As this both on the images of what I would
produce and on the existing product.
In this flat plan of an existing one which has been produced for ‘Goldilocks and
the three bears’ have been represented to be more kind of style of how I want
to get particular objects to look in a certain way to capture in that type of style.
They have made the visual imagery to be detailed and cartoon like. The way
they have imaged the stem coming from the pots of each porridges. However,
some of the imagery from here are from looking at Goldilocks or the three bears
perspective. This would be good idea to influence with in my project as this
would have it easy for me and audience to understand. Each scene is in your
face eye catching on her of this flat plan which has been shown to be thrilling to
look at. I got this type of flat plan from the internet of how they would sort of
visual imagery that convey across us.
In my own product I had my whole visual style out of Rotoscope and painting by using the brushes. The reason I had chosen this type of style for
my product is because as it looks good and when use this with in the characters of how you make them and also the backgrounds. I thought it
was the best way to project my work and that young children as 3 to 6 year olds would be interested into. With these two types of styles which I
have used I could do numerous of different things to make my backgrounds and characters more interesting. For the both of these types of styles
I could use different shadings and use multiple effects on the particular that which I was referring to. By using the paint brush tool as one of my
visual styles is that you could mix a number of colours to mix together as by which this comes out out of amazing mixing them both makes it
more interesting to look at it. However, with my Rotoscopping it was it can be easily be illustrated in various imagery which I have used it in my
own work.
What were the strengths and weaknesses of the pre-
production and planning
How did the planning and research help
How well did you manage your time
Reference specific examples
Firstly, with the planning and my research helped me to gather things together of what I wanted to make my final product
to look like in a particular way. So with in my planning firstly is that, planning from my initial ideas of a mind map of how
particular types of imagery, colours to generated through my storyline, character’s, audience, location and style. These are
specific important parts from the very start of when I was planning my book out to be. This was a good idea to use both text
and imagery, for one to be a mind map and images which you can see visually you can see of how it has been represented
with in the internet images. For instances of how I wanted to capture the main character to be like. Also the way I got the
main character in various different positions like running, walking, side angle and a back angle of her. This particular part of
the my main character was highly important as she is the main part of book and as it revolves around her of what happens.
To make her do different movements to illustrate of what's happening to the storyline of how I wanted to represent into
each story stages through my story. However, with everything else within in my planning of my mood board this helped me
by the location of how I was going to set the background. Particular things I add would with in my into my backgrounds for
instances mountains and trees. How I would get adjust the different backgrounds for the different scenes so it would seem
like as if the main character has moved from one storyline to another. This makes it ore interesting following through the
backgrounds. Multiple of options of how I would want to make it look like by having these multiple imagery and texts fonts
as well.
Secondly from using this type of planning was helpful and useful by using these ideas from my planning I would influence it into my pre-
production both of my flat plans, both drawing and digital ones as well. They gave me really good ideas of how I should set out specific work
out by using the space that was available on the page layout on photoshop for my Pre-production. Going back to my planning part of my work,
the other strength was looking at recent page layout inside a book of how they did. This gave me variation of ideas of how I can layout the inside
out to be like. As I was looking for a simple page layouts which wasn’t to over crowed and which were just straight forward the audience I am
giving it to. The ones I had looked up on which had put on to my mood board was quite few variation and also one was in colour so I could get a
feel of how the colour’s which they had picked were okay and what went with an already existing book which was already out there. An extra
thing with my planning ideas which I had chosen, for this my feedback of what the audience thought was good for my ideas of how I think the
story should go. They gave me some pointers of how I could make my ideas better in my proposal, idea generation and mood board. As this
came both down to a weakness but a strength at the same. The reason is for this is because it is both of these is by showing what I can do better
as I will improve in my actual final project but pulling me down what I haven’t done right. However, they do like what I have done already
though so that was a strength of what I could with in my own work to be in my final project. I an glad I did some research because at the very
start I didn’t know what to do with anything to my story and also how I was going to change either of how I was going to make my own. So I
thought make it more exciting by making my location different instead of the woods I made it in the Antarctica. Changing the three bears to a
three penguins. This seemed more thrilling story that no child had been to. Through out all of this planning and pre-production through out all
of planning I have made sure that the timing here was all in time as I had done with in all time which was needed. Through this I have made my
planning through out it detailed all intact for this type of storyline. However on another hand, I feel that my weaknesses of this planning and pre-
production was that I should got some more faces of what the girl that I wanted to make it seems that I could use more ideas. Also well of having
different faces, I should have various different face positions like for instance; right hand side, left hand side, straight forward. Should have more
research on my my main character of Goldilocks, of how she dressed and how she has been shown to the audience. Also I should have
represented the penguin characters, seem more representing more like a family, of a mother, a father and a child. How I should have made
outfits for them to make them more aware of what they they meant to be in the family genre.
Historical and cultural context
How does your work compare to what has come before? What other similar products have
existed in the past? What current products exist?
My own project of my creation of Goldilocks and the three penguins and version of the existing ones that have
been done before mine of Goldilocks and the three bears. This particular scene of how in the book called
Goldilocks and the three bears they have made them to create a layout of how one image represented at the
bottom of each picture by having the text to be represented at the top of each one. So then which you
understand of what each picture stands for. This has been shown in both mine and the three bears version. As
mine has been represented as small little scenes which have circle shapes around them but in the three bears
version the images have been represented as the three bear. Above each image they have got a short
sentence to go with it. As well with this text I have spaced out the text the varied the text to make it simple
more easy to read. As well with the text it has been made to look as if the text has been going down individual
steps. As with this it has a different meanings towards the image. In my kind of story which I have created I
have made everything the same apart from where they live, changed the three bears to penguins and which
the place of where you live within. The similar stuff is that it has still got it’s based back story to it but however
just changing the way that the chairs don’t break they stay put as she just goes up stairs to the bed.
The way the text has been formed into the tree of where the part of where the leaves were. They have placed
the text here over a solid colour. This is what I have done to mine as well but have a text box going around
them with a solid colour going around it. This make it from the existing product make it seem more obvious
and glimpsing to the eye. As this also makes it easy to read against the other colours which have been
conveyed into this type of scene which has been created in both the existing product and my own product.
Going back to the existing product they have made around the bush part of the tree a black outline. This
makes it more noticeable of having it been outlined in a black colour. However, with my own product I have
made the outlines of the box be a pattern which are leaves in a brush. With this pattern going around the edge
in a nice colour of two shades of going around it. This also with this it still makes it eye catching and helps you
to notice to read the the text within the box. As well with this it has got both clear text to read as they both
these similar features.
Through both stories I have seen that colour’s which I have chosen from mine and from the existing product.
Have both got balancing colour’s through out them both. Mixture of bright colour’s and also darker colour’s as
well. From one page to another they all collided into each other, as this is good because that there is such a
good mixture. So there isn’t a constant colour going through out the book as this make it sound boring by
using the colour’s over and over again. These both choose variation of colours.
Peer Feedback
• Summarise peer feedback and discuss
– Responses you agree with
– Responses you disagree with
Feedback 1
• What do you like about the graphics?
– I like the detail especially with the mountain, dog and the girl.
– I also really like the attention to detail with the three bowls of food and
the add of steam to make each on look different.
– The colour pallet works well together throughout both pages, and you
have also kept the consistency between the colours and the colours of the
penguin.
– It looks realistic more so with the detail with the trees.
• What would you do to develop the graphics?
• I would possibly change the girls facial expression so that she looks more
shocked, so that it links to the text.
• Maybe show that a little bit of the food has been eaten so that it also links in
with the text.
Feedback 2
• What do you like about the graphics?
Mountains in 1st image are very well made, inner/outer glow (whichever one
you used) works very well at reflecting light. Characters look good especially
the dog. The little flowers around the text work well in the top image. Inside
of the igloo is very good as it shows it curving into the shape of an igloo not
just going straight up.
• What would you do to develop the graphics?
Consider adding a stroke to the penguins as it is difficult to distinguish
between the smaller one and the other two. This would help separate them.
The little flowers around the text work less well in the second image as it is
less of contrast against the background than in the 1st image. 3rd bowl is
slightly off the table as well.
Feedback 3
• What do you like about the graphics?
– I like the detail in the mountains and the igloo. It shows you’ve put a lot of care into
making them. The designs of the dog and penguins look really good too. I also like how
the text boxes have different colours and how you added leaves on the corners.
• What would you do to develop the graphics?
– In the mountain range of the first image, you could consider making the mountains in
the back lighter and slightly blurred to create more of a sense of depth.
– In the second image, maybe you could consider making Goldilocks look like she’s running
and changing her facial expression so that she’s shocked/frightened.
– In the text it says the penguin’s food was eaten from, but the graphics don’t really show
this. Maybe you could consider adding bite marks in the fish tails or something.

Graphic Narrative Construction

  • 2. Does your final product reflect your original intentions? Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product Firstly, for looking at my drawing planning that I have done on paper. I would say that when I was drawing these out I haven’t used used two of them as I thought that would make it seem better to be fitted together into one instead on two separate pages. As this was for my drawing story boards. From this I have used only 11 pages from this story board. From this story board to my digital story board is that I have made them look the way I want them to look into the theme of Antarctica from the mountains on the outside and inside of an igloo. These flat plans gave me numerous space of how the text was going to be represented with a filled layer box behind it to make it to be stand out of the page overall. As this was the key pint of the story of my flat how I was going to base around the storyline. So around the text I had created the visual images to go with it. As this would make it seem more spaced out from one another. Make more clear and simple of how it has been done with al ready existing projects of story's that are out there already. But however with the drawing flat plans I could only use a pencil or pen to draw out of how each section is going turn out to be. However, the problem with this I cannot adjust the choice of colours as this is the main problem for this type of flat plan for drawing one for the story board. As you can see to the right hand side that my drawings are all in pen ink, this doesn’t help me chose the right colours of how I want to make it seem like. Where as, the other beneficial’s for this story board shows how I would reflect each section of furniture or the objects of how they should be laid out from one to the other. As these are chosen different varieties for each section of each object can be changed to fit the purpose of the sector for the relevant page. Some of these drawing helped me to set things out for all the individual pages of how everything should be spaced out from each other.
  • 3. Does your final product reflect your original intentions? Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product Secondly, using digital flat plans like a storyboard but it has been made on Photoshop. From these story boards is firstly with the benefits of using this on Photoshop is that you can pick out colours that you can see. By also using this in colours, I can also use this guide what type of colours fits that will mix with in everything which has represented onto the page. So from going to the objects that have represented in these individual pages I have recreated into my own way. For an example of this is when I had recreated the igloo. As you can see her from the igloo that has been represented in the digital flat plan has made me think to create own on the actual Photoshop. On my own creation of it. As this has shown that this has been in my plans so I added it in to be produced into my own final product. As this creation has been numerous sequences around my storyline. As most of the sequences of story happens within side the igloo itself. As I thought it would be a good Idea creating it but then just recreating it for numerous scenes. For my main character Goldilocks she was just going to be recreated in different positions of how you can see her here on the various positions on the digital flat plans. These have been shown the way I would have wanted to be shown in my finally product the way I have designed them to be shown. From the digital plan of my storyboard, can see from each stage of my story how everything was going to be planned out. For instance how I was going to set some specific objects around the place. But, however, from my digital plan to drawing plan they have been made to be seen as various ways but they don’t really look mostly like my final storyboard which I have created. As some of these picture I have created on the right hand side. I haven’t used as my final dissension. So for instant for my first page I have just made the two characters of Goldilocks and the dog called Bella. This is highly different compared towards my drawing flat plans that I did firstly. Which can see below. As you can see here that these two very different as you see from the drawing flat plan is that I have set the house, mountains and the people in all various different positions. So in my final product of what I have come to is that the setting of the house has positioned more forwards towards the audience and also the way it has been sized up to be shown up much bigger than the original idea. However for the mountains I have made seem to be far in to the distance but going behind the house instead of being higher than house. Lastly the people which I have created I have only made Goldilocks and her dog called Bella. Also how all the over positions where going to be around it.
  • 4. Does your final product reflect your original intentions? Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product From looking at my final product which I have created from looking from my original intentions. Is that from the look from all of my pages I have done. Do seem very similar pages that go back to my original ideas which I have made by my flat plans and story boards. As these particular pages look similar to the ones which I have made into my product. Comparing them to my storyboards and flat plans. Storyboard Digital flat plan Final product From this page that looked similar towards each other from going from storyboard, digital flat plan and my final product. Firstly I got this idea from the story called ‘The Gruffalo’, as I have seen this has been in most books for little children books. As I thought it was a good idea to put it in as it way to express these little adventure towards the igloo. This was better idea to keep going through this instead of having three different pages individually. As this would seem more boring to this type of audience. As this audience which I am targeting at is ages from 3 – 6 year groups. As they want an easy flow to the system to this kind of book with its visual imagery. As this has been shown in three stage to get to the igloo. Of first how she is with her dog and then secondly she loses it and then lastly she she finds the igloo which is puffing out smoke. Of the smells of the food been captured into the air of the cooking which they had made the penguins. But also with these three different two planning's I have the first, flat plan to look quite messy as the three individually circles have been spaced out randomly across the page. But however in my digital flat plan and my final product. Can see that these two circles of the way I have made them seem more closer together and also the way they have been spaced out evenly. This shows that the way the different levels have been shown out. So, then you know by this that you know what you should look at first and then second and then lastly. As the text has all been resented above them all to also in title you what is happening with in this picture on it is own. From this there are multiple similar pages that link with in my all my planning for instance like my storyboard, digital flat plan and eventually product.
  • 5. How well have you constructed your images? How well have you constructed your images? You could talk about the overall visual appearance and well as the use of texture and colour. From my final product picture I would say that my construction of these images which I have created. Considering, that I have tried my best to make it look like an original picture image. Is by firstly, talking about all my backgrounds is that I have done well on of how I have made them. As some of are highly different but then some of them are the same like the igloos. So, for looking at the backgrounds on the ones with a mountains behind them. I have done this well by adding into the mountains a drift of snow type of texture floating away from the mountains. As this makes the whole background seem mysterious and and dangerous place to be. Following this the drifting snow from the mountains and also the various dust from mountains. Also as well with the mountains I have made an texture detailed within the mountain by enhancing a darker colour that can be easily been shown as the darker shading on top of mountain. This makes the texture of the mountains to be seen as more appealing and works with in the whole of the inter scene which has been created all the around the scene. From this from mountains and everything else makes the various scenes and the background of igloo to be more constructed of how much colour alteration going to it with how objects have been viewed into each pages. For this page I have constructed very well. For considering, that the way I have set everything out to this room is all right. For instance the wardrobe as this projects to be a bedroom. As the colour and and the bed fit with each other with well. As link in to each as well. Of the way I have made seem that the way wardrobe set in to the far background of the bedroom. So, the wardrobe seen to be smaller than it actually is. As the first view would be the bed and then moving off it to around what’s happening through out the scene of page. The bed has been shown to be texture of a crimpled look within the quilts of where Goldilocks is underneath. This texture makes it seems more life like by having this makes the effect of the bed. I like the way I have made the construction of the way I have made the bed a bit 3D ish. By putting on to the side of the bed a kind of rectangle
  • 6. How well have you constructed your images? How well have you constructed your images? You could talk about the overall visual appearance and well as the use of texture and colour. The way I have constructed this image is well and simple. From the way I have created this image with the chairs having them all in an even line on a slight slant from one another. As each chair was curved differently to one another as they all spread out. So that this shows that the main view point to this story page is that it’s main focus is onto the chairs. As there nothing else to betray a divert over attention on other things like the characters. So this is why I have only used a chairs here instead of enhancing character on to this page. As this keeps the flow of the story to go through the story very nicely. As for the colours for each of the chairs are they are always the same types of colours. As one of the penguins belongs is always red or green or orange. Depending which penguin it is. As this fits well within the story of when Goldilocks goes inside she sees the three bowls. The same types of colours which have been represented on to here. The colours which I have chosen all complement each other. The texture of the igloo of each of the different tiles have been shown in different shapes. This shows that the texture of tiles and the different colour of them reflect on to them. But also with in the image itself I have added a picture to the side on the igloo wall. This gives the sense of imagery to make it feel more home based feature towards it. As this just makes it that more calm and not so over crowded. I think that my overall look on my story the images have all been constructed well and simple for the particular audience that I am targeting it at. But however there are some pages that seem a bit rushed and which I could do better on is pages 8 and 9. These two pages have both got the image of the just the girls face seems a bit scary without not having a body. As I should have created a body for character as well within the bed. But apart from this for the construction of the looks of the image of the pages. I think that everything else looks good and that it suits it’s background of were it has been placed. These two ages which have been represented above. Which has been shown.
  • 7. How well have you used text to anchor your images You should talk about the combination of words, images and text. Throughout my pages I would say that most of my images and text and word type of font which I have chosen does all match each other. But however there are a couple of pages which don’t correspond with the anchoring everything together for one full page. Most pages like these two on the right hand side fit the anchoring category of how it should look. So the first image to the right hand side. Has been anchored all together by firstly looking at the text and the background of which it is over. The background box colour matches everything with in this scene. As this colour that has been used is a pale cream colour, so that the text would be able to be seen easier and clearer. Also talking about this feature of this shape box is that it really pulls away from the scene so that the text can easily be noticed. Around this it has got leafs pattern which is going around the boxes in just two types of colours. This makes the contrast seem more depth towards the igloo. As one of these light blues which have been used which represents one of the colours from the igloo. The other colour is light colour that compliments the other colour internally which goes with the scene so nicely. From the text and the words goes off from this towards above it is the scene of what’s happening. As I have featured all the penguin family to be seen in this one scene in the their various colours which has been shown on their bellies. As you can see the look of their faces seem angry which gives us the sense that they aren’t happy that a person has come into there house and messed up there house. Also the reaction of Goldilocks face seems to tell how well it says within the text. Of how she is feeling shocked and scared of sights of penguins. However from this page there has been pages where the text doesn’t interlink with in the scene of the story. As this by means doesn’t fit with in the flow of the scene from going to one page to the other. So as you see hear the way I have chosen the colour to be a bright pink doesn’t balance with the page. As all the other colours are all much darker compared to others. So this makes the text seems to be out of place. As this doesn’t show a good anchor of this image to the text and the words. But apart from this everything else seems good with in the page of the image. As all colour’s are all well suited for each other, to get that dark blue, black, cream white colours which have been expressed here. Also the same thing with this page there has been kind of the same problem. But however, the main colour of the shape of the rectangle has to be shown to be a dull pink colour which is a huge difference compared everything else. As well everything is cream colour’s or dark colour’s. As, this shows that this doesn’t fit within this page either of the flow of pattern from going to other pages. From these two pages I should make them to a simple cream colour which will benefit the whole of the scene. As this wouldn’t make so side-distracting as it all ready is as I want to make less of this.
  • 8. Is your product suitable for your audience? Reference your proposal Give an audience profile and describe suitability in reference to content From this what I have said on my, ‘Audience and Target Market’ is that I have aimed it this specific age group from ages from 3 to 6 year olds. As for here I have said that other books which have this specific age group just have simple visual imagery and simple text which link with each other. As I have both intrigued both genders for the boys and the girls. Firstly, intrigue the boys to read this type of story is because of how rebellious she is towards her mother. You see her being ‘rebellious’ is by the beginning of the story as she doesn’t listen to her mother that she shouldn’t go out with out her there. As she tells Goldilocks it is highly dangerous to go outside on her own. From this she wants to have adventure from this, but out so badly of what she had planned in her head. Also the way that boys would also like this type of story is because of she intrudes into a house and eats the penguins food and sleeps in their beds. Lastly, for the boys they would find the angry and the aggressive part of how the penguins act towards Goldilocks as interesting and thrilling for them. However, the girls would be interested in the cuddly side to the penguin of how they have been made to seem of their visual image. Also the creation of the dog which has been represented in various different positions which has cute appeal towards it. Lastly, that girls that would be interested in this book is because the main character that’s following through this story is a girl. This is how they would interest both genders. Yes I would say that my final product are all suitable for my audience. As from page to page they are they easy to get what’s going on into my story. Also with the text it is easy to read for ages I am appealing to. As all the pages which I have created are all simple to understand and they have got the same style going through the book. As I would class it as middle class because of how most of this group is referred to this type of group. Of how it has been represented and that also that it would work best as middle class as it would open part to people to buy it.
  • 9. What do you like/dislike about the techniques you have used? Reference specific tools you used with images The specific techniques which I like about my work is by firstly looking at these three images. By looking at the first image on the left hand side. I like the way I have created the feature of a wooden which was brought through to the house. As this type of techniques to put the clipping mask on to the square to reveal the features within the wood and the textures. From the wood which I had picked out I had good definition lines going across with a dark colour. As this part of the house suits it so well and compliments the whole scene. As you can see in between the dark lines there are various sketches which have been shown in a lighter colour’s and variation of darker colour’s as well. Also I like look the way that the lines don’t look all look even they all look different. In various thickness. With this you can use the opacity to be shown how much of this kind of texture of can be shown through from the base colour of the shape which was original there. On this house of the texture of this would can see a good depth of contrast between the variation of colours which have been chosen. Here I used the clipping mask to clip this merge with the shape tool which I had which was a plan square.
  • 10. What do you like/dislike about the techniques you have used? Reference specific tools you used with images With in this image I like the way I have made the mountains have been made to look as if the wind blowing off them. As this creates an dramatic effect on to the landscape for the background. As I have made this by using the brush tool, for this I have used the soft brush tool to get this kind of effect of a kind of fading effect on to it. Made to be seen as the snow is floating away from the mountains. As this is going behind the mountains itself to be made to look like this. As well with the mountains I like the way I have made textures of the mountains are meant to be representing the mountain rocks and then the over halves are made to be the softer parts of the mountains. As for the softer parts of mountains and the rocks parts of mountains to be changed colour from the mountains at the front and then the mountains behind as well. I like the way I have made the individual circles on here for the mini stage of how she gets to the house of the igloo. This makes the actually stage of this interesting and to where she is going. I have made the individual circles out of the shape tool. With in the shapes I have made scene to be made from a paint brush to make the snow and and sky and also the igloo. For the sky part I have made two of the circle shapes to have snowflakes in three various types of them. For the background for this I have just used the technique of rotoscopping. I have used this with everything with in this scene on this page of what you can see here. For the igloo you can see that there various shades of colours that have been shown to make the effect that it is coming out of the wall a bit. Also the way I have designed the beds all differently so then you will know which bed she goes towards when following the story. For here as well I have made different colours for beds to go with theme from the bowls and so on.
  • 11. What I dislike with these two images is that the way I have put Goldilocks sleeping there in bed. Of the way I have just shown her face and that is it but I should have done the rest of body like for an example her arms to be represented out of the bed. As this wouldn’t as so odd as I have created to look like. On the first image from one of my pages, I didn’t know what to do with her eyes to show that she was asleep so just gave her eye mask as this seems quite rushed. Doesn’t really represent the element of what I was trying to go for. So maybe I should look something up to get a better idea of what to do for her eyes. Also the way I should represent the way she could have laid in bed in a different positions so it looks as if she is a sleep instead of looks like she is sitting up in the bed. So I would like to see her being laid down in the bed. For the second image from my story I should have made Goldilocks sit up more in bed as by looking more surprised of the fact that the penguins have come in and intruded on her while she was sleeping. So that her face is in the wrong position as this is very low to the duvet as this seems a bit weird of being like within the image. However the face expression on her face for this is really good to go with the narration of what has been said in the text. This gives the viewers of the book that she is shocked and worried of what is about to happen to her by the penguins. What do you like/dislike about how your final product looks?
  • 12. What do you like/dislike about how your final product looks? Through out each page of my story of my final product of all my images wanted to look like a nice, simple and vibrant colours to go through out the images through my story. By they all keep this simply effect with in this type of pattern genre. With in this type of genre I have got a wide range of colours these colours have been chosen from a range bright and some dark colours as well. However, all these range of colours go well with each other. The contrast of which I have chosen going from page to page. I like how I wanted each of my pages to seem a bit a different but having a link with in each page to continue from one to another. My ideas which I have used from planning have came into perspective to be shown in my final product of how it looks like now. The picture which has been shown on the right hand side. By looking at the the sky on here it looks like as if the main sky part of this is in a kind of gradient effect. By one half of the sky has been shown in a bright colour of blue and then suddenly it goes into pure darkness. As this effect has been shown to be effect for this type of scene and goes with everything else on this page. As this adds to the story of how the story makes the audience feel towards this particular page. Following from the sky it comes down from here goes to the mountains which makes it seems that more dramatic. By also having the very far mountain being darker colours colours compared to the other mountains which are much forward. Throughout all my pages I like the way they have all got around the text I have put around them is the leaf brushes going around each individual texts. This makes it that more interesting to read around the text and highlights that that the text doesn’t fade back in to the background. I have chosen to do this because I have seen this kind of style been done in various before so I thought that this age group would like to see in my own story based book. With the books which I have seen going around the texts like this. However, I think that my over all look towards my final product is that I think that I have done a good job for what the age reference is meant to be for ages of 3 to 6 year olds. Also I think that every element of the scene comes together into one whole one.
  • 13. Why did you include the content you used? Images, fonts, effects, colours I include the relevant content such as images, fonts, effects and colours into my book. For the following reason. Firstly, I used the content for images is because of the age group for which I am setting it at. Is that they would want to see intriguing pictures of images from the very beginning to the very end of the story. As this helps them to get a sense of imagery of what is happening and which they can see from there point of view of what they are meant to be seeing. As the images are a very important part of my book because it is quite a hard place to recognise of where it has been set in Antarctica and also an igloo as well. This gives the young generation of what it is meant to look like when I give them impression into their minds. For there age they wouldn’t have know what these places mean or anything so putting into imagery makes it easier for children who are looking at the images. Also I included the relevant objects and things which have been said so they know hat I am talking about. This is highly important throughout my story that it has this to the viewer gets and understanding of what illustrating to them. As this goes on to the text. As the text which, has been said of what is being said in the scene. As I have chosen this text called Peppa Pig. As I have chosen this type of text to tell my story is because I thought that it would piece well will with my story and it’s for the type this audience it is clear and simple for them to read. Of where I have placed it on to the pages. Also with the text that I have chosen I have also given spaces in between the lines as this makes it more easier to read. As for this book it is important to include the text been added with in the story is because they can’t just tell what’s going on in the images there has to be text to be added in to give effect and also makes imaginable to see it. This font goes well with my genre which I have picked out for my story. For the text I have only used black writing apart from one scene where I have used bright pink. The reason I have used the bright colour pink is because as it wouldn’t be fade in to the background and also it doesn’t blend with in the background. As I want to make it to look different. The other reason I did this because it would be that your eyes will capture it first than read then look at the images below them. The only effects which I have used within my story is to do with my sky’s as I have used a kind of a gradient over it. This makes a dramatic effect over the particular scene which I am using over this. This is the only effect which I have used with two different colours but they are both blue colours, two different types of shades of blue.
  • 14. Why did you include the content you used? Images, fonts, effects, colours The colours through out the igloo scene have kind of repeated the same kinds of colours over and over again. So that they would seem to be flow from going throughout of the igloo scenes. However, also the same kind of thing has happened when I have created the outdoor scenes as it has got the similar qualities of the dark colours been calibrated in these scenes. From the inside of the Igloo. From the first scene of when Goldilocks goes into the Igloo from to very last scene in the Igloo. As you can see they have kept there similar kind of bright and vibrant colours that all compliment each other off. From each scenes of the stories. From the outside to Antarctica. From the very first scene of the story to be shown outside and to the very end scene but they types of scenes that are seen outside are more darker compared to the inside the Igloo. These colours which are reasonable darker which I have chosen here. The colours of the character which I had made. Looking at my penguin characters they have all very different colour shadings on to their bellies. From one penguin this will make it easier to make out which is the parents and which is the baby of the family of he different height. From the parents I gave one a pink belly and then the other parent the dark blue colour belly. This will show which one is a female and a male. However with the baby I just gave it the colour red. Apart from this they have plain a dark grey colour with a orange beak. All of these colours which I have chosen go so well with each other. However with the main character Goldilocks and her dog. They have both got similar colours through out them both. Both these two character link with each other by having the similar colours represented on to them but projected in different shades of colour’s. I included these types of colours with in my story is because they aren’t that harsh and they compliment each over off. By having this very varied type of style of colours which I have chosen to these looks given off like this.
  • 15. What signs, symbols or codes have your used in your work? Choices of colour, style, locations, character design and tone all give additional meaning to your work. My story has got simple and clean look to it. Of how I have chosen the specific colours to follow of from the storyline from each images and also shows that they have different symbols and codes and signs. Signs, symbols or codes within my story of the image I have created the deeper meanings to them as here I will tell some of the these have done into my images. Firstly, with my characters of the penguin family. I have made symbolism of them by just creating them one from the start I have slightly changed three out. As by giving them different colour’s bellies. As this would suggest a bit more about them that one of them is the mother, father and baby of the family. I have also done this by changing the heights of each one of the penguins and also as well made them a bit wider as well. So firstly we represent the colour light pink towards a more of a girly colour than boys colour this would be shown as a female representation. Secondly, the colour blue and red represent kind of colour’s that male a associate with. So you can see that larger penguin blue is the dad of the family, the pink penguin of the family is the mother and the baby of family is the penguin in red. This is because of their heights they have shown to be in. As well with the characters of Goldilocks and her dog called Bell. Firstly, the way that Goldilocks have been dressed up in big puffy coats a kind of look that what an Alaskan would wear to go outside into the freezing cold weather. Bella her dog, looks like a husky type of dogs that you would get out here in the Antarctica to help you get around places. The way it symbolizes details of husky type features around it’s faces and the way the darker colour of it’s coat of her fur and where the light fur goes as well. Going back to Goldilocks when she is sleeping you can see that I have but ‘Z’ marks going away from her mouth. This suggests that she is a sleep instead of showing her eyes I have shown the eye mask instead. As this makes it a clear way that she is sleeping with in different colour so it doesn’t fade back in to the bed as I have made it stand out of the scene. Also the way she is quite laid down in the bed suggests that she is asleep in this position. The way I have represented this place of signs it most be cold, mountains and in the winter season. The way it has been symbolismed to be cold of she shivers of how Goldilocks to try and get out of this winter weather. Can tell that it is winter weather by looking trees that it is bare and which it doesn’t have any leaves on it. Also how the weather is pouring down with snowflakes all over the sky. All of these types of features of her goldilocks and the location she has been set in to feel cold. The opposite of being cold is being warm and this has been featured in the bowls of how hot each one is from the steam which is coming from each one of them. As we associate this with being very hot of how much steam is coming from the one bowl compared the two others. As one one hasn’t got any steam coming from it so this would represent that it is cold and then the other bowls which has a little bits of steam that coming off. This symbols that the bowl is a bit warm but a bit cold at the same time.
  • 16. From the location here it doesn’t like a location that everyone would know where there are mountains and that there is nothing around it. As this location is placed in Antarctica by of how represents an Igloo and penguins and a husky dog. As well how the weather has changed to be like snow. But firstly, the location it has been set with mountains from going to some outdoor scenes have these in. Of how they are imaged and toned show that they are more dangerous and more mysterious. These types of mountains have a texture of that they would seem like they are out from a ski slope mountains or just from the alps. As these types of mountains seem hilly and different compared to each other as they all seem a different type of colour. Also you would say that this type of setting is in Antarctica because there is an Igloo which is normally seen in this type of region and other features. The expressions on each of their faces of the penguins all have got similar looks on to them by the way have got all there eyes and eyebrows all frowned. This will show an expression of anger and hatred on to Goldilocks of what she has done to their house of she has just came into as she is the intruder that broke in. As we would see this as threat from the animal of the penguin of what signs they are giving from their individual to the human of Goldilocks. As they all giving all the same kind of threat signals come from each one. As this make you feel unwanted in the igloo of house she intruded also that they are are strangers that she doesn’t know as well. As this also comes as more of a danger towards poor Goldilocks.
  • 17. What representations can be found in your work? How are men, women or children shown in your work? Does your work feature different ages, races, social groups or religions? Does a lack of any variety of character types create its own representation? The way I have represented the three penguins is by associate them the colours which they have got shown one their bellies. Firstly, by looking at the red and blue colours I would suggest that both of these colours would relate to both boy colours. As they seem very masculine of a representation to them. This is the way to make them out which is what kind of gender they both are, if they are female or male. Secondly, the female penguin is the one which has been represented in the light pink belly. This makes a good representation for the different genders. Also they are represented in different heights this also shows who represents who in the family. Like for instances who is the mother and father then lastly child. For this type of characters which I have created here I have not represented and details like ages that could have easily identified or even race or social groups and religions. They didn’t make this the number subject to projected on these types of characters this would make these types of character over detailed if I did with in each one. This is why I have decided to not do, just make it nice and simple from the characters to make them easily representable to recognise. As well with my other animal character which I have created is a dog. Is hard to suggest if it is a female or a male of the way I have represented it. Also I think that all my animal characters have all made their own creations of their own representation. For my main character called Goldilocks. I have made seem like just a normal looking young girl which has been aged around 10 years old. This young girl has been shown to be in Alaskan clothing as she has got a big hoodie going around her head and also the colours of this shown to be dark and cream colours. As this the natural look of how they should represented of what they wear when they go out to these types of locations in Antarctica. Goldilocks has been shown to wear big boots this also shows how cold it can be there and that you have to be always rapped up. For this type of character she doesn’t have any religion or social groups. However, I have shown a race by the colour of her skin. The colour of her skin is white but little bit of texture of darkness shadings into her skin. Her skin has be represented in various countries around the world which has been shown. As she just seems like a normal girl but however changed that little bit to fit into the scenes which needs to be in. To fit with in the genre of it all. She has been represented as young girl, of a child. This has been done by how tall she is to be shown. As I have tried to make her to small to be represented like this, by this would make it seem clearer to the audience that she is young girl instead of an adult. For Goldilocks, I have also made her seem to represent a kind a friendly person. The reason for this is because of how her eyes have been represented, how big eyes are. This makes her eye catching with big eyes like this. Another, reason for her being like this is because the way she is kind of smiling at us. The way that she has represented of how her arms are and everything else doesn’t seem defensive at all more opening to people and mysterious. She has been shown in various different scenes that have been made in different situations of bad ones and also
  • 18. What style have you employed in your products? Discuss influences/ existing products What visual style does your work have and why did you choose it? From my planning mood board I had made a page out of here for just inside pages of how they planned everything. How they laid out things like text, imagery and spacing. From here this really helped to to get research on here for this part, as I didn’t know how I was going to plan everything out. From going through the pages out of book that I have made. The way they have planned them all out influenced me how to get how I was going to make mine like for my audience which they have interested in but not turned away. I got existing inside pages from online to get the feeling of what the look I was trying to get to go for. As I were looking I saw that not most of them had the characters with in the pages that had seen. So, this gave me good ideas for an example of this is were there is just the bowls, chairs and the table of the kitchen and just simple black text. This gave me a straight outline of what was going in the story instead of putting any characters with in the frame. Also with this I have chosen they have made the chairs more meaning full by adding the letters for the family, like for instances (Mama =M), (Papa= P) and (Baby Bear = B). This makes this a clear a meaning of which bowl and chair belongs too. For the writing of what it says within the text. However, this imagery here doesn’t have any kind of style towards it because it just in a clear black and white colour’s. But just simple style around it which is clear and obvious. How that you can see in this image, you can tell that they have made the image out of drawings. To get this kind child like style. As, this will get through to the children to what’s happening in this story scene which has been created. For this image to the right hand side. They have made the style towards this type of book to use your eyes more, this has been shown in three circles up close to the creator of it’s claws, jaws and it’s teeth. This has made me influence my product by making that I can use circles use with in little scenes so it doesn’t use just one page. As by using these little circles, it makes it more exciting for the child who is reading the book. Of how they making out to be little glimpses of the monster of what he is meant to be looking like. I have associated with this in my own work is by using the circles and putting with in these circles mini scenes of how she gets to the igloo and fins it in the middle of nowhere. This type of style makes it seem more interring for both the existing book and my own book style. As this both on the images of what I would produce and on the existing product.
  • 19. In this flat plan of an existing one which has been produced for ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ have been represented to be more kind of style of how I want to get particular objects to look in a certain way to capture in that type of style. They have made the visual imagery to be detailed and cartoon like. The way they have imaged the stem coming from the pots of each porridges. However, some of the imagery from here are from looking at Goldilocks or the three bears perspective. This would be good idea to influence with in my project as this would have it easy for me and audience to understand. Each scene is in your face eye catching on her of this flat plan which has been shown to be thrilling to look at. I got this type of flat plan from the internet of how they would sort of visual imagery that convey across us. In my own product I had my whole visual style out of Rotoscope and painting by using the brushes. The reason I had chosen this type of style for my product is because as it looks good and when use this with in the characters of how you make them and also the backgrounds. I thought it was the best way to project my work and that young children as 3 to 6 year olds would be interested into. With these two types of styles which I have used I could do numerous of different things to make my backgrounds and characters more interesting. For the both of these types of styles I could use different shadings and use multiple effects on the particular that which I was referring to. By using the paint brush tool as one of my visual styles is that you could mix a number of colours to mix together as by which this comes out out of amazing mixing them both makes it more interesting to look at it. However, with my Rotoscopping it was it can be easily be illustrated in various imagery which I have used it in my own work.
  • 20. What were the strengths and weaknesses of the pre- production and planning How did the planning and research help How well did you manage your time Reference specific examples Firstly, with the planning and my research helped me to gather things together of what I wanted to make my final product to look like in a particular way. So with in my planning firstly is that, planning from my initial ideas of a mind map of how particular types of imagery, colours to generated through my storyline, character’s, audience, location and style. These are specific important parts from the very start of when I was planning my book out to be. This was a good idea to use both text and imagery, for one to be a mind map and images which you can see visually you can see of how it has been represented with in the internet images. For instances of how I wanted to capture the main character to be like. Also the way I got the main character in various different positions like running, walking, side angle and a back angle of her. This particular part of the my main character was highly important as she is the main part of book and as it revolves around her of what happens. To make her do different movements to illustrate of what's happening to the storyline of how I wanted to represent into each story stages through my story. However, with everything else within in my planning of my mood board this helped me by the location of how I was going to set the background. Particular things I add would with in my into my backgrounds for instances mountains and trees. How I would get adjust the different backgrounds for the different scenes so it would seem like as if the main character has moved from one storyline to another. This makes it ore interesting following through the backgrounds. Multiple of options of how I would want to make it look like by having these multiple imagery and texts fonts as well.
  • 21. Secondly from using this type of planning was helpful and useful by using these ideas from my planning I would influence it into my pre- production both of my flat plans, both drawing and digital ones as well. They gave me really good ideas of how I should set out specific work out by using the space that was available on the page layout on photoshop for my Pre-production. Going back to my planning part of my work, the other strength was looking at recent page layout inside a book of how they did. This gave me variation of ideas of how I can layout the inside out to be like. As I was looking for a simple page layouts which wasn’t to over crowed and which were just straight forward the audience I am giving it to. The ones I had looked up on which had put on to my mood board was quite few variation and also one was in colour so I could get a feel of how the colour’s which they had picked were okay and what went with an already existing book which was already out there. An extra thing with my planning ideas which I had chosen, for this my feedback of what the audience thought was good for my ideas of how I think the story should go. They gave me some pointers of how I could make my ideas better in my proposal, idea generation and mood board. As this came both down to a weakness but a strength at the same. The reason is for this is because it is both of these is by showing what I can do better as I will improve in my actual final project but pulling me down what I haven’t done right. However, they do like what I have done already though so that was a strength of what I could with in my own work to be in my final project. I an glad I did some research because at the very start I didn’t know what to do with anything to my story and also how I was going to change either of how I was going to make my own. So I thought make it more exciting by making my location different instead of the woods I made it in the Antarctica. Changing the three bears to a three penguins. This seemed more thrilling story that no child had been to. Through out all of this planning and pre-production through out all of planning I have made sure that the timing here was all in time as I had done with in all time which was needed. Through this I have made my planning through out it detailed all intact for this type of storyline. However on another hand, I feel that my weaknesses of this planning and pre- production was that I should got some more faces of what the girl that I wanted to make it seems that I could use more ideas. Also well of having different faces, I should have various different face positions like for instance; right hand side, left hand side, straight forward. Should have more research on my my main character of Goldilocks, of how she dressed and how she has been shown to the audience. Also I should have represented the penguin characters, seem more representing more like a family, of a mother, a father and a child. How I should have made outfits for them to make them more aware of what they they meant to be in the family genre.
  • 22. Historical and cultural context How does your work compare to what has come before? What other similar products have existed in the past? What current products exist? My own project of my creation of Goldilocks and the three penguins and version of the existing ones that have been done before mine of Goldilocks and the three bears. This particular scene of how in the book called Goldilocks and the three bears they have made them to create a layout of how one image represented at the bottom of each picture by having the text to be represented at the top of each one. So then which you understand of what each picture stands for. This has been shown in both mine and the three bears version. As mine has been represented as small little scenes which have circle shapes around them but in the three bears version the images have been represented as the three bear. Above each image they have got a short sentence to go with it. As well with this text I have spaced out the text the varied the text to make it simple more easy to read. As well with the text it has been made to look as if the text has been going down individual steps. As with this it has a different meanings towards the image. In my kind of story which I have created I have made everything the same apart from where they live, changed the three bears to penguins and which the place of where you live within. The similar stuff is that it has still got it’s based back story to it but however just changing the way that the chairs don’t break they stay put as she just goes up stairs to the bed. The way the text has been formed into the tree of where the part of where the leaves were. They have placed the text here over a solid colour. This is what I have done to mine as well but have a text box going around them with a solid colour going around it. This make it from the existing product make it seem more obvious and glimpsing to the eye. As this also makes it easy to read against the other colours which have been conveyed into this type of scene which has been created in both the existing product and my own product. Going back to the existing product they have made around the bush part of the tree a black outline. This makes it more noticeable of having it been outlined in a black colour. However, with my own product I have made the outlines of the box be a pattern which are leaves in a brush. With this pattern going around the edge in a nice colour of two shades of going around it. This also with this it still makes it eye catching and helps you to notice to read the the text within the box. As well with this it has got both clear text to read as they both these similar features. Through both stories I have seen that colour’s which I have chosen from mine and from the existing product. Have both got balancing colour’s through out them both. Mixture of bright colour’s and also darker colour’s as well. From one page to another they all collided into each other, as this is good because that there is such a good mixture. So there isn’t a constant colour going through out the book as this make it sound boring by using the colour’s over and over again. These both choose variation of colours.

  • 24. Peer Feedback • Summarise peer feedback and discuss – Responses you agree with – Responses you disagree with
  • 25. Feedback 1 • What do you like about the graphics? – I like the detail especially with the mountain, dog and the girl. – I also really like the attention to detail with the three bowls of food and the add of steam to make each on look different. – The colour pallet works well together throughout both pages, and you have also kept the consistency between the colours and the colours of the penguin. – It looks realistic more so with the detail with the trees. • What would you do to develop the graphics? • I would possibly change the girls facial expression so that she looks more shocked, so that it links to the text. • Maybe show that a little bit of the food has been eaten so that it also links in with the text.
  • 26. Feedback 2 • What do you like about the graphics? Mountains in 1st image are very well made, inner/outer glow (whichever one you used) works very well at reflecting light. Characters look good especially the dog. The little flowers around the text work well in the top image. Inside of the igloo is very good as it shows it curving into the shape of an igloo not just going straight up. • What would you do to develop the graphics? Consider adding a stroke to the penguins as it is difficult to distinguish between the smaller one and the other two. This would help separate them. The little flowers around the text work less well in the second image as it is less of contrast against the background than in the 1st image. 3rd bowl is slightly off the table as well.
  • 27. Feedback 3 • What do you like about the graphics? – I like the detail in the mountains and the igloo. It shows you’ve put a lot of care into making them. The designs of the dog and penguins look really good too. I also like how the text boxes have different colours and how you added leaves on the corners. • What would you do to develop the graphics? – In the mountain range of the first image, you could consider making the mountains in the back lighter and slightly blurred to create more of a sense of depth. – In the second image, maybe you could consider making Goldilocks look like she’s running and changing her facial expression so that she’s shocked/frightened. – In the text it says the penguin’s food was eaten from, but the graphics don’t really show this. Maybe you could consider adding bite marks in the fish tails or something.
