6. Sustainable Farming Techniques
Some basic farming techniques are going to be taught to the locals in an effort to
try and teach them how to farm sufficiently once our volunteers have left.
Basic tips to run a healthy garden:
â—Ź The seed needs to be properly buried in order to let the see grow properly.
● Don’t over the water the seed, give it enough to grow, to much will kill it.
â—Ź Organic pest control needs to be used.
â—Ź We need to protect the crops from erosion and other harsh forms of
weathering.
â—Ź Composting needs to be taught.
â—Ź An easy and effective way of irrigation needs to be established.

Bioversity International- This organization believes agrobiodiversity is able
to sustain the globe. They want to help low-income countries adapt to
climate change, apply sustainable farming practices, and improve nutrition.
4-H- This organization helps youth in agricultural projects, work ethic, and
leadership qualities.
One Acre Fund- Their focus is to supply land and good farming techniques
to African countries.
8. Organizations and Manufacturers
Heifer International- Their goal is to supply livestock to families, empower
women to become leaders, how to manage their natural resources, and
increasing family income.
National FFA Organization- This organization wants to prepare adolescents
for leadership opportunities, further their knowledge in agriculture, and
gives them tools and hands-on experiences to further their successes.
John Deere- Can apply for grant for small farming equipment.
