TEACHING AND LEARNING
Introduction
Let us first understand:
Teaching – is perceived as stimulating, directing,
guiding the learner and evaluating the learning
outcome of teaching.
Learning – changes in individual’s behavior caused
by experience or self activity.
Teaching-learning process- the heart of
education. It is the most powerful instrument of
education to bring the desires changes in the
students.

The learner as an embodied spirit
The learner is an embodied spirit. He is neither body
nor spirit alone. Body and Soul exists in mutual
dependence. (Kelly,1965)
The learner has the power to see, hear touch, smell,
and taste, perceived, imagine, retain, recall,
recognize past mental acts, conceive ideas, make
judgment , reason out, feel and choose.
A union of a
sentient body and
a rational soul
As Teachers
Let us care for the
embodied spirit-
learner.
Let us feed his/her
body as well as
BODY
The brain to be filled
with knowledge.
Physical needs such
as;
 Exercise or short
games before
starting the class
lessons
 Eat
 Snack time/ recess
time
 FEEDING
PROGRAMS
HEALTH MATTERS
checking the health
conditions of the
learners
Sensations
Feels
pleasure and
pain
SPRITUAL/SOUL
Matthew 4:4
“Man does

word that
comes from
the mouth of

sublime thoughts,

  • 3. Introduction Let us first understand: Teaching – is perceived as stimulating, directing, guiding the learner and evaluating the learning outcome of teaching. Learning – changes in individual’s behavior caused by experience or self activity. Teaching-learning process- the heart of education. It is the most powerful instrument of education to bring the desires changes in the students.

  • 7. The learner as an embodied spirit The learner is an embodied spirit. He is neither body nor spirit alone. Body and Soul exists in mutual dependence. (Kelly,1965) The learner has the power to see, hear touch, smell, and taste, perceived, imagine, retain, recall, recognize past mental acts, conceive ideas, make judgment , reason out, feel and choose.

  • 9. As Teachers Let us care for the embodied spirit- learner. Let us feed his/her body as well as
  • 10. BODY The brain to be filled with knowledge. Physical needs such as;  Exercise or short games before starting the class lessons  Eat  Snack time/ recess time  FEEDING PROGRAMS HEALTH MATTERS checking the health conditions of the learners Sensations Feels pleasure and pain
  • 11. SPRITUAL/SOUL Matthew 4:4 “Man does not live by bread alone but every word that comes from the mouth of God” Needs to be fed by sublime thoughts, Principle of spiritual acts Source of intellectual abstraction, self-reflection & free rational volition
