An extremely proactive, highly motivated, intelligent individual who works well both as a team

Having completed 20 years in the Royal Navy to date, as a Multi-Trade Aircraft Technician
prior to becoming a Trade Supervisor specialising in the Mechanical aspects of Aviation,
including, Airframe, Engines, Hydraulics and Air systems.

Four year indentured CITB apprenticeship, first three years of which were spent with Deva
Heating, the last year with Viv Davies Heating and Plumbing.
•The first two years were split between NEWI College learning plumbing and heating theory
and hand skills, which were then consolidated with the Heating firm on a roughly 6 weeks’
rotation, resulting in the City and Guilds qualification.
•To achieve the full indentured apprenticeship, the next 2 years were required to be
consolidation working as directed by the sponsoring firm, during which I negotiated attend
day release at the NEWI Collage gaining the Advanced City and Guilds qualification.
Self Employed Plumbing and Heating Engineer

Upon completion of apprenticeship I turned self-employed, mainly operating on a sub-
contracting basis rotating around a small nucleus of regular companies as the work dictated,
along with undertaking my own work.
• Specialised on large new build sites, and became the SME for all companies with regards
to all aspects of leadwork.
• Promoted to Company lead representative upon several sites, including operating some
sites as sole company representative, liaising with the site manager and company in varying
areas including forward planning, manpower and logistical requirements.
• Assisted several companies with the design and pricing aspects of preparing quotes for
both large and small sites.

Responsible for carrying out unsupervised flight servicing of aircraft when required to meet
the daily flying programme. Responsibilities also included component changes, carrying out
fault rectification among the trades of mechanical, electrical and radio.
Leading Air Engineering Technician (Mechanical)

Responsible for the rectification and fault diagnosis of mechanical faults to ensure aircraft
are provided to meet a constantly busy flying programme. Secondary to this was providing
continual subordinate development. Other duties include: -
•Carrying out regular component replacement, fault rectification and routine servicing tasks.
Ensuring that all engineers in the team are well briefed and that the job is carried out safely
and correctly using the correct hand tools, equipment and technical instructions.
•Contributing my knowledge and skills to ensure that any mechanical faults or work is carried
out efficiently when carrying out large work packages with a team of engineers.
•Acting as a mentor to junior engineers, passing on knowledge, experience and practical
skills. I also assisted them with completing their log books by regularly carrying out
competency checks ensuring that their knowledge of the aircraft, documentation and
procedures remain current
•Carrying out required modifications to suit the environment the aircraft will be employed in.
•Liaise with the supply department with regards to when materials and components will be
available for maintenance.
•Ensure correct procedures are employed throughout the maintenance lifecycle, this also
includes the use of correct tools for procedures and that policies and regulations are strictly
adhered to which surround certain maintenance requirements.
Petty Officer Air Engineering Technician (Mechanical)

Responsible for fault diagnosis and rectification, scheduled maintenance and depth
maintenance. Including all relevant paperwork and updating of the Engineering and Asset
Management system used within the Fleet Air Arm.
Regularly manage the Mechanical section of the watch, liaising with the Watch Controller
and senior management, providing Subject Matter Expertise while allocating personnel and
resources.
This role encompasses many things, including among others an appreciation of health and
safety, human factors, quality assurance and LEAN engineering models. This is tied in with a
requirement to be able to react to a constantly changing scenario with an ability to provide
clear leadership and support to subordinates while providing solutions and results to
management., I acted as Health and Usage Monitoring system administrator, providing
analytical data on flight, aircraft and engine performance. Undertook a role in the education
of trainee engineering personnel acting as a mentor for junior personnel, and providing first
line reporting on their performance and potential.
3. ●Providing technical assistance to all aviation sections within the Air Station on matters
relating to engineering.
●Managing the requirements of all aviation sections regarding Tool Control and carrying out
Aviation Audits covering every aspect of aviation engineering.
●Ratifying the holdings of tool outfits held within the Air Station and ensuring that correct
control measures were being enforced.
●Introducing a change in policy at Command level and across the different operating fleets
concerning the correct interpretation and implementation of PTT & PTP policy.
●Providing assurance to the Navy Command that the engineering of Naval Aviation Assets
is in compliance with all the relevant regulation and also in accordance with Military Aviation
Authority (MAA), which mirrors the Civilian Aviation Authority.
●Reporting Officer for engineers and ground crew, ensuring periodic appraisals are
managed.
●Most importantly, my role was to guarantee that all personnel working within the aviation
environment do so safely and are both qualified and authorised to carry out their given tasks.
●Operating aviation assets safely and effectively during two 4-month deployments to
Afghanistan under extreme environmental conditions.
●Playing a key role in the effective transportation of aircraft to and from areas of operations,
liaising with numerous international agencies to ensure safe and timely transfers.
●Continuous training and development of subordinates in order to achieve their full potential.
●Ensuring that continuous improvements are maintained by introducing and managing a
Quality Assurance Management System.
Having undertaken several roles within the Aviation environment, away from aircraft
maintenance which include:
AEO writer Assistant: The duties in this position were to assist in carrying out the duties of
the 848 Squadron Records and Planning Manager, directly managing two other personnel.
Ensuring that current regulations are strictly adhered to and the highest standards of practice
maintained at all times. My principle tasks in this position were: -
•Monitoring rotables and engine lifed components using the Computerised Maintenance
Management System (CMMS).
•Carry out weekly, monthly and annual CMMS data integrity checks.
•Using CMMS as the management tool, create a weekly maintenance forecast for use in
squadron maintenance planning, organize and arrange work packages and to also forecast
major lifed components.
•To manage and organize Heavy, Base and Line Maintenance teams within the Operational
Engineering Planning department.
•Custodian of all Technical Instructions and Air Publications on the squadron ensuring that
all are kept well maintained and up to the current amendment state.
•Liaise with external agencies to organize 3rd and 4th line maintenance to be carried out at
suitable opportunities.
•Carrying out technical auditing and verification of key airworthiness compliance tasks which
have been issued by external agencies.
•Create daily and weekly forecasts of maintenance required.
•Monitor and manage maintenance around external agency/3rd party planning.
•Represent the planning office at weekly meetings.
•Create tracking and audit data against schedule progress.
•Liaise with internal and external engineering and supply departments to ensure delivery of

Mechanical Instructor at the Initial Training Group (ITG) HMS Sultan: The role
requirements were to be the course instructor for a class of Initial trainees direct from HMS
Raleigh, guiding, instructing and mentoring the course for all subjects within the course
syllabus. The principle tasks for this role are: -
• Instruct the whole syllabus to allocated courses (with the exception of the Avionics aspects.
• Monitor their welfare, wellbeing, and progression throughout the time in attendance at ITG,
regularly conduct interviews and advise on areas for improvement, deal with various
personal issues, and undertake disciplinary actions as required.
• Regularly asses and review allocated subjects as part of Continuous Improvement.
• Conduct final assessments of Courses on a one to one basis.
Flight Deck Fuel and Motor Transport Leading Hand: Onboard HMS Illustrious operating
as a member of the Ships Company within the Air Engineering Department, whose role is to
support the oncoming squadrons, acting as a buffer and liaison with the rest of the ships
company. The responsibilities for this position included: -
• The operating and maintaining of the flight deck transport, from the tractors to the Coles
crane, and maintaining the Flight Deck Fuel hoses.
• As the Helicopter in Flight Refuelling (SME) undertook a complete rewrite of the procedure
which was then adopted throughout the fleet, as well as providing a brief for embarked
squadron personnel on the process.
• Additional role as Leading Hand of the Mess, taking responsibility of the accommodation
area for myself and 15 other personnel, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness,
functionality and compliance with all the relevant H&S regulations, as well as dealing with
the disciplinary issues arising from living in close proximity with one another.
• Undertake the whole ship responsibility for Petrol’s, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) for AED,
and Embarking squadrons, ensuring all required H&S and MOD policy for the storing of POL
were met, create and maintain a database of all holdings, liaise with Embarking squadrons in
a timely manner to ensure allocated space for storage of additional POL, liaise with ships
stores section advising on the aviation requirements for POL.
Flight Line Supervisor
Ensuring the aircraft nominated for the days flying were in the right place, at the right time
with the correct fuel state. This involved allocating the required manpower with the relevant
authorisations, to refuel and marshal the aircraft, ensure all personnel were aware of the
correct procedures and emergency procedures, overseeing the training of new personnel in
all aspects of operating within a busy, and oftentimes dangerous environment.
Flight Servicing Inspector
Responsible for overseeing the aircraft paperwork was compiled correctly both before and
after flight, conducting final checks of, and completing the electronic and paper recording for
all the tasks undertaken
Whole Station Tool Controller
• Liaising with the stores department, station workshops, individual flights and large
squadrons, interpreting and advising on policy, conducting quality audits (audit team
member and audit team leader qualified) with the station Quality Team. I acted as a liaison
5. with all the tooling Project Teams (PT), oversaw and advised PTs on the Navy’s acquisition
of the Mk 3 Merlin from the RAF from a tooling perspective, involved with the transition of 1
Regiment Army Air Core moving to RNAS Yeovilton. Lead advisor on Precision Termination
Process and Tooling (QAPTT).
